Majek Fashek Breaks Silence on his Alleged Poverty Status

Nigerian reggae legend, Majekodunmi Fashakin aka Majek Fashek who has been in the media of recent for his poor health has replied to various allegations about him been broke. According to Majek, the press in Nigeria have been hounding him, and writing negative stories about him.

Speaking to Encomium Weekly, Fashek who has had a long battle with drugs said the press is blackmailing him, although he didn’t say why.

A federal court has ordered a former Jigawa State governor, Sule Lamido,and his two sons, Aminu and Mustapha, accused of fraud,remanded in prison custody in Kanotill September 28.

The former governor was arraigned on Thursday alongside his children for receiving N1.35 billion kickback from a government contractor.The money was allegedly paid into accounts controlled by the governorand his sons.

Nigeria's President Muhammadu Buhari has for the first time met those campaigning for the release of more than 200 girls abducted by Islamist Boko Haram militants last year. His predecessor, Goodluck Jonathan, declined to meet the Bring Back Our Girls activists.

Buhari promised them that troops for a regional force to fight the militants would be in place by the end of July. The kidnap of the girls from a school in Chibok sparked global outrage.

The Lagos State Election Petitions Tribunal has reaffirmed Governor Akinwunmi Ambode’s victory at the poll. Doesn’t this mean that the All Progressives Congress truly won the election?

We see the ruling of the tribunal as a miscarriage of justice. It is at variance with the law because even the prayers of the petitioner and the defendant were left out only for the panel to bring up an action saying that the PDP ought to have requested for a re-election which was not part of our prayers. Our prayer was that we should be declared the winner of the election because Ambode was not validly nominated by his party as the notice of the primary given to the Independent National Electoral Commission did not meet the deadline. So, it is our intention to challenge this at the Appeal Court and we are optimistic that the court will upturn the ruling and that is why we are telling the people of Lagos to be patient as their mandate will soon be returned to them.
