Fulani Herdsmen Attacks Threatens Nigeris's Unity - Mimiko
Following Several violent attacks by Fulani herdsmen in Ondo State, Governor Olusegun Mimiko has raised the alarm that Nigeria may be heading for the rocks if the incessant killings are not stopped.
The governor said the issue of Fulani herdsmen rampage had become a budding monster that is threatening the security and unity of the country.
He spoke in Akure, the state capital on Monday during a peace meeting with members of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC).
The Ondo governor said the situation demands a national security emergency, and called on President Muhammadu Buhari and other leaders to put heads together to save the nation from imminent catastrophe and caos.
“There is no question about the fact that this is becoming a monster of sort. I have had cause to express my view on this on many occasion and I think we all ignore this menace as a nation”, he said.
“I can see us moving towards a precipice and we must do something about it as early as possible, it is getting dangerous, the audacity is very disturbing”.
Gov. Mimiko specifically condemned the recent attack on the farm of the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Chief Olu Falae, and the killing of one of the guards, Ayodele Ige, by suspected herdsmen.
He described the development as unfortunate and barbaric.
The governor appealed to the OPC members not to take laws into their hands over the killing of Ige, who was their member.
He also commended the all the security operatives in the state for rising to the occasion, adding that the police had been supportive, having successfully traced those behind the killing of the guard.
Mr. Mimiko further warned that if his advice was not heeded, it may reach a stage where people would resort to self-help.
“I say it again, we are moving towards the precipice and the earlier we pull back, and it requires all the stakeholders from the president and this is a bi-partisan issue, all major stakeholders must come together on how to resolve this issue”, he said.
“These herdsmen must be called to order, these wanton destructions, audacious incursions in other people’s territory cannot continue for too long”.
Mr. Mimiko noted that the activities of the Fulani herdsmen would not only pose a threat to national security but a great challenge to food security especially when people are calling for the diversification of the economy with agriculture as the main focus.
“It is very ironical, we have been talking about diversification and agriculture is the main focus but in this state there is hardly any medium scale or large scale farmers that has not had any encounter or the other with the herdsmen”, he said.
“They just go to the farm and devastate the farms, some of them have been turned to perpetual debtors because some of the input for the farms are from bank loans, the herdsmen will just get there and destroy these farmlands and we are talking of diversification.
“But I think if we don’t do anything about the activities of these herdsmen, I can see a threat to the security of this country so it is a major challenge and I think the President and all major stakeholders should take this as a very serious challenge”.
Mr. Mimiko also faulted the proposed Fulani grazing reserves bill by the National Assembly, saying if passed into law, it would further worsen the crisis between the land owners, farmers and the Fulani herdsmen.

2016 budget crisis confirms my claims that pres.Buhari is clueless, incompetent - Fayose
Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayo Fayose has described the raging controversies between the Presidency and the National Assembly over the 2016 Budget as a confirmation of his position that President Buhari was clueless and incompetent, saying; “Nigerians should expect more blunders like this until they send Buhari back to Daura in 2019.”The governor, who said it was now obvious that the President and his All Progressives Congress (APC) only wanted power desperately without the wherewithal to govern, added that; “I warned Nigerians of the consequences of electing an octogenarian as president and with the international embarrassment that this budget crisis has become, I have been vindicated.”
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by his Special Assistant on Pubic Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, the governor said; “It is obvious that there is total disconnection between the President and his cabinet members as many of the ministers don’t even have access to him probably because the President spend most of his time resting as a result of his old age.”
He said; “The reality is that the President is challenged by age, exposure and ability. He did not read the budget proposal that he presented to the National Assembly and this should be a lesson for those who clamoured for a Buhari’s presidency that no man can give what he does not have.
“The question is; can a minister present supplementary budget to the National Assembly and can the National Assembly act on budget proposal submitted by a minister? “It is shameful that after blaming former President Goodluck Jonathan and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for close to one year, the presidency is now blaming the National Assembly for its inability to prepare a common budget.”
The governor commended the National Assembly for exposing the lies and hypocrisy of the presidency, saying it was shameful that President Buhari and his men could blame the National Assembly for their incompetence.
He called on the National Assembly not to succumb to blackmail and intimidation from the Presidency, saying that the way and manner the Presidency was going about blackmailing and intimidating other arms of government, especially the judiciary should worry lovers of democracy and good governance in the country.
The governor, who declared that Nigeria will no longer be ruled by octogenarians, said; “Nigerians must have now come to terms that I warned them that Buhari is too old to govern a country like Nigeria.”

Why the choice of the environment you use in your comedy skits unlike in Lagos where they go to wealthy areas to shoot their comedy skits?
The thing is; comedy is comedy, as long as you can relate with it and it makes you laugh, it is comedy. In our case, we come from a low live area and we relate very well with the things that happen there that’s why we create our comedies around those areas. It’s our environment.

There is no such thing as taking the shine. Our aim is to put her out there, help gain audience in the world mainstream comedy and that’s what we are doing. That’s what we will do for all our comedians by God’s grace.

ECOWAS Court Set To Hear Dasuki’s Case Despite Objections By FG
The court ruled on Monday that it will hear the case, saying the matter dealt with “fundamental” human rights issues.
Dasuki is on trial for fraud in connection with the alleged looting of millions of dollars from arms contracts. He has been detained since December despite being granted bail by the court.
“From the totality of the issues brought before this court, it is clear and there is no ambiguity that the applicant is seeking enforcement of his right to freedom,” said Judge Friday Chijoke Nwoke.
“In our opinion, what Dasuki brought before us as a case is an issue for the enforcement of his fundamental rights to liberty,” Nwoke said.
Former Abia Governor Kalu, Others To Appear In Court May 16 - EFCC
Justice Anwuri Chikere of the Federal High Court, Abuja has fixed May 16 for arraignment of former Abia State governor, Orji Uzoh Kalu, ex-Director of Finance in the State House, Udeh Jones Udeogu, and Kalu’s company, Slok Nigeria Limited on a 112 amended charge brought against them by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The defendants are accused of diverting the Abia State’s funds estimated at about N5.6billion while Kalu and Udeogu were in office between 1999 and 2007. They had earlier been arraigned on a similar charge before Justice Adamu Bello (now retired from the Federal High Court’s bench), seven years ago.
Kalu, Slok and Udeogu were first arraigned on July 27, 2007 on a 96-count charge. The EFCC, on February 11, 2008 amended the charge, raising it to 112 counts. The defendants challenged the competence of the charge up to the Supreme, losing in every court. They also lost at the Supreme Court which, in a judgment on March 18 this year, dismissed their appeal and ordered them to submit themselves for trial.
“This matter was slated for mention today. On March 18, 2016, the Supreme Court dismissed the appeals by the defendants,” Prosecution lawyer, Oluwaleke Atolagbe said, handing a copy of the Supreme Court judgment to Justice Chikere.
“I will urge my lord to adjourn the case to afford the prosecution some time to take some steps. We will need about two weeks. We seek an adjournment for the defendants to take their plea,” he said.
Khloe Kardashain And Lamar Seperating ?
In one of her emotional outburst online over the weekend, Khloe Kardashian wrote:
”It doesn’t matter how loyal you are to someone. You can’t change someone’s heart and bad habits unless they want to themselves… Don’t lose yourself by trying to fix what’s meant to stay broken.”
Soon after, stories started flying that she’s talking about her man Lamar Odom. But hours later, she came back online to deny that she was referring to Lamar, even though the words she used were strong.

FG Imposing More Hardships On Nigeria With VAT Increment - Fayose
“Nigerians are suffering with the little that they have, federal government is planning to take back through VAT increment, this is wickedness! “Under three months, electricity tariff was increased despite epileptic power supply, N50 stamp duty was imposed on bank customers for money received into their accounts via electronic transfer, cash and cheques; petrol is being sold for as high as N400 per litre and now they are talking about increasing VAT to 10 per cent, this is the height of insensitivity to the plight of Nigerians,” he said.
Read the press statement below...
Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has said that the Federal Government was planning to impose more hardships on Nigerians by increasing Value Added Tax (VAT) from the current five per cent to 10 per cent, describing the move as insensitive to the plight of Nigerians who are suffering from the bad economic policies of the President Mohammadu Buhari led All Progressives Congress (APC) government.
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo had said on Thursday, in Lagos that the current five per cent VAT rate in the country was very low, and went on to add that the Federal Government would increase the taxpayer base this year. Reacting through his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Governor Fayose said any increment in VAT or any other tax being paid by Nigerians at this time will further make life unbearable for the people.
The governor, who lamented the increase in the cost of living of Nigerians, occasioned by the bad economic policies of the Federal Government, said “even recent figures from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) revealed that prices of food have hit a record high and inflation is worsening.
“How can government be considering 100 per cent increment in VAT when businesses are folding up, prices of essential commodities have skyrocketed, millions of Nigerians are losing their jobs and those who are still employed are no longer getting paid regularly? “For even contemplating the increment of VAT at this difficult time shows that the Buhari-led government does not care about the welfare of the citizens and only God will save the poor masses from the hands of this government.”
Governor Fayose said rather than imposing more hardships on Nigerians, President Buhari should seek help from experts on how best to revive the country’s economy, adding that; “As at today, the Buhari-led government is yet to show that it has any clue to the revival of the economy.”
Religious Bill By El-rufai In Kaduna State Is absolutely Wrong’ – Senator Shehu Sani
The Senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, on Sunday criticised the religious bill by the Kaduna State government, saying it was “absolutely wrong.”
The bill, according to the state governor, Nasir El-Rufai, is to regulate public preaching in the state and to ensure violent religious sects are not allowed to thrive.
Mr. Sani, who has been at loggerheads with the governor over other programmes, however, said the government had no right to regulate or issue licenses to religious preachers in the state.
The lawmaker spoke shortly after receiving an award of excellence by the youth wing of Ansarul-Deen Society of Nigeria during their 40 years anniversary and fundraising programme.
He said it was painful for him to receive a merit award from the group when majority of Nigerians were suffering.
“It’s painful to receive this merit award when majority of Nigerians are still expecting good governance. Nigerians are facing lots of challenges and we the elected leaders cannot continue to give them excuses.
“They did not elect us to lament, they didn’t elect us to give them excuses. We were elected to give them good governance. I’m not the kind of person that will see black and say it’s white. Whether we are in same party or not I will not see wrong and say it’s right.
“I did that during the military era and I will continue to tell the truth even now. Nigerians spent hours under sun to vote for us and so we must not fail them. We must do what the people want and not what we want as leaders because they voted for us.
“This is why we say the proposed religious bill in Kaduna State is absolutely wrong and we will not accept anybody to licence any preacher because people have the right to practice their religion as enshrined in the constitution.
Foramfera
“Nobody can violate the constitution because freedom of religion is enshrined in the constitution. We are also calling on the state governor not to over tax the people because they have suffered a lot under the 16 years of PDP,” he said.
The Senator also urged Nigerians to pray for President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration to succeed, saying the president has succeeded in tackling the insurgents in North East.
“President Muhammadu Buhari is really working for Nigeria and for the masses of this country. Therefore, we must continue to pray for him to succeed,” he said.
Mr. Sani later announced the donation of N2 million for the completion for the Ansarul-Deen Youth Centre.
Other people who received the merit award for their contributions to humanity include former Director General Media and Publicity to former Kaduna State Governor, Ahmed Maiyaki; Kaduna NASFAT branch Chairman, Abdulwaheed Adepoju; and NASFAT Kaduna Branch Chief Missionary Officer, Marooph Raji.
