Najatu Muhammad rejects Buhari’s appointment
Northern politician and activist, Najatu Muhammad, used the quarter page of Daily Trust newspaper publication today, to announce her rejection of an appointment by President Buhari. Buhari had over the weekend ordered the sack of 13 Vice Chancellors of 13 Federal Universities and announced their replacements. Najatu was one of the replacements.
In her publication, Najatu said she was rejecting her appointment to serve as Chairperson of Federal University Dutse for personal reasons. She said she used the pages of a newspaper to reject the appointment because that was how she got to know of her appointment. She said she was not consulted by anybody before being appointed. Lassa Fever:- 1 Dead, Pregnant Woman Contracts Disease In Ogun State
The primary contacts of the victim, numbering up to 121, are being closely monitored, adding that none of them have shown any sign or symptom of Lassa Fever.
The Ogun state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Babatunde Ipayehas confirmed that one victim has died of Lassa Fever in the state.
Ipaye also told newsmen that pregnant woman has also contracted the disease, adding that she has been moved to the isolation centre at the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu.
The commissioner said “The deceased was responding positively to treatment before she started developing complications on Saturday.
“The state government was planning to celebrate the success of her case while the family was planning a thanksgiving Service before her death.”

Ipaye also told newsmen that the family of the dead victim has been instructed to bury him, in line with the World Health Organisation and National Protocol on management of Lassa fever.
Police Storms Bayelsa Creeks In Search Of Tompolo
The police have deployed policemen in the creeks of Bayelsa State on orders of the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, to arrest a former Niger Delta militant leader, Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo in compliance with the order of a Federal High Court.
The Force Public Relations Officer, Bisi Kolawole, who confirmed the search said the IG had directed his officers to apprehend Tompolo, who has also been declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
She also noted that the Police won’t need the help of the military to track and arrest Tompolo because they are up to the task.
Obafemi Martins Joins Chinese Club, Shangai Shenhua In A Multi-million Dollar Deal
Nigeria striker Obafemi Martins has joined Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua in a multi-million dollar deal.

Wrestle Legends, Hulk Hogan & Undertaker To Visit Lagos – As Gov. Ambode Marks One Year In Office
According to reports, the Nigerian Wrestling Federation have concluded plans to fly in the wrestling legend and his colleague, Undertaker, for the A+A Intercontinental Wrestle Force – which is one of the activities lined up to mark the governor’s one year in office.
Put together by the Nigerian Wrestling Federation (NWF) in alliance with the Current World Wrestling Federation, wrestlers from different parts of the world would be in Lagos to participate in the event that will hold in 14 centres in the three senatorial districts of Lagos.
In the words of the NWF’s president, Prince Olarenwaju Mohammed, the federation is glad to invite the wrestling legend, who also said he’s willing to visit Lagos.
“We have invited renowned wrestling champion, Hulk Hogan and Undertaker to be part of the show. Hogan specifically told us that he would like to come to Lagos once in his lifetime to see how the city looks like,” he said.
Continuing, he said, ‘The reason we are having the championship in multiple centres is to bring wrestling closer to the people at the grassroots. We want our people to see those wrestling stars who they normally watch on television live at their domain.
‘These centres include Epe, Alimosho, Badagry, Ojo, Ikorodu, Ikeja, Ifako Ijaiye, Agboyi Ketu, Eti Osa, Oshodi Isolo, Yaba-Mainland, Lagos Island, Surulere, while the grand finale will hold in Agege,” he said.

Photos: Two University undergraduates arrested in Enugu for killing a Nigerian woman the day she arrived from America
Two undergraduates of one of the South East state university have been arrested by Enugu State Police Command over the murder of a Nigerian woman based in the U.S.
According to the statement issued by the Command, the suspects identified as James Okoh and Victor Uchenna Okefie are both helping the operatives of the Anti Kidnap Unit of the Enugu state command of the Nigeria police Force in their investigations in relation to their role leading to the untimely death of a lady identified as Mrs stella Uhuo who was trapped in Enugu on the day of her arrival from United states of America where she had gone for vacation.
It was gathered that on that fateful day, 14th November, 2015, deceased person Stella Ohuo had allegedly contacted James Okoh, a final year sociology student of the said university and from Amata in Afikpo local Government Area of Ebonyi state whom she had known for long and usually assist the deceased in cab activities and other commercial errands, that she will be landing from the US trip to Enugu Airport on that fateful day. James was to convey her to Abakiliki and deliver some luggage given to her by some friends in United state of America.
On the said day, Okoh came to the Airport with his friend identified as Victor Uchenna Okefie in a Volvo car alongside some family members of the deceased who came to welcome her. On arrival at the Airport, personal luggage of the deceased was said to have been put in the car brought by the family while the ones to be taking to Abakiliki were loaded into the boot of the volvo car with registration number LAGOS EKY 855 CY. It was further gathered that the family members had allegedly left with the personal luggage of the deceased while Okoh, Okefie left with the deceased and some luggage to Abakiliki.
Along the way, okoh and okefie diverted the car off the busy Enugu Abakiliki Expressway to a road side off the expressway at about 10AM of that fateful day,a nd at that juncture it became obvious to the deceased that something is wrong. To Okoh and Okefie that was a ripe time for them to execute their illicit plan of dispossessing the deceased of all the luggage contained in the car but resistance was shown which saw the deceased being beaten while in the car by the two of men until the deceased gave up her ghost.
On noticing that the woman had given up her ghost, they quietly and smartly brought her to a dust bin located near Enugu/ Abakiliki Expressway and dumped her body there and left with the luggage and ransacked all the items contained therein including some dollars, male cloths and ipads amongst others and fled.
Suspects have been at large since the commission of the dastardly act until the operatives who had been on their trail recently nabbed Okoh on 29th january,2016 in his hostel at Ebonyi state while okefie was trailed to his parents house at Ajaokuta in Kogi state on January 31,2016 where he was nabbed.To suspects,they are regretting their illicit act pointing out that it was not their intention to kill the woman but to collect the luggage and escape but the resistance of the woman made them to try to beat her up so that it can be weak and that way paved way for their smooth operation but it is unfortunate that the woman died. Suspects however are begging for forgiveness.
Meanwhile,deceased is said to have been helping okoh one of the suspects for many years back before this incident and that was why she had the trust of calling him to convey her as usual to Abakiliki and Unknown to her that okoh and okefie had perfected arrangement to take her to the great beyond.
A full scale investigations have commenced into the alleged incident just as the deceased dead body has been in a nearby mortuary pending the conclusion of the investigations.

22 ATM Cards, Mobile Phones, And Bank Tellers Found With A “Mad Man” Arrested By RRS In Lagos
Men of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police Command on Wednesday, February 10, arrested Lanrewaju Jaiyeola who claimed to be mentally unstable. Items discovered with him includes 22 ATM credit cards, 2 mobile phones, bank tellers and power bank.
The 39-year-old man was nabbed by the operatives along Ozumba Nbadiwe Road, Victoria Island, Lagos, when he was seen carrying a backpack and behaving suspiciously.
“When we sighted him, he appeared like a mentally sick man but we invited him for interrogation, he answered and responded normal to all our enquiries” on e of the officers said”.
“Afterwards, he started straying from the normal course of our enquiries. This raised further curiosity and we decided to check out his backpack. What we found was startling; 22 assorted credit cards, 1 Nokia phone with flat battery, a blackberry, a power bank, several bank tellers of recent bank transactions, and lots of invoices amidst numerous pieces of papers.
“On further scrutiny, we discovered that eight of the credit cards were still valid. Out of these; three would expire in 2018, another three would expire in 2017 while two would expire in 2016. All the credit cards bore different names and banks.” he added.
During interrogation at the RRS Headquarters in Alausa, the suspect suddenly began to sound irrational and even threatened the investigative officer.
“Initially, we noticed that he was mentally balanced because he was answering the questions posted to him adequately. But all of a sudden, he started to sound incoherent and illogical again,”
“He said ‘I will make life unbearable for you if you don’t let me go’. It was at this point we realised that possibly he might be enjoying the patronage of some highly placed people whom we believe he might working for,”
The suspect has been transferred to Special Anti-Robbery Squad where he is expected to be subjected to further investigations and psychiatric examinations.

Yobe Now Free From Boko Haram – State Governor Reveals
The Yobe State Government has said there is no part of the state currently under the occupation of the Boko Haram insurgents.
Governor Ibrahim Gaidam stated this in Damaturu while receiving a delegation from Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA, who delivered relief materials to the state.
Mr. Gaidam, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Baba Malam-Wali, said the areas initially taken over by the insurgents had been liberated by the military.
“Presently, there is no part of the state that is under the control of insurgency. Plans are in the pipeline to relocate Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) back to their communities,” he said.
Daniel Craig quits as James Bond after signing up for new American TV series
Just before the movie Spectr was released last year Daniel had problems initially with the script. He was injured on the set and needed knee surgery. He had to do a lot of re-shoots. This affected Craig a lot as the movie shoot was a very difficult one.
Spectre bosses were unimpressed with Craig's attitude during the shoot last year and they constantly told him.
Grey's Anatomy actress Ellen Pompeo was also unimpressed with his attitude, She wrote on Twitter:
"This dude needs a reality check, after hearing about his remark. Craig is pretentious and thinks he's better than Bond, that it doesn't give him the creative range he needs, plus he hasn't had a big hit movie outside of the franchise, and he blames that on Bond".

The heads of the six information-related parastatals under the Ministry of Information and Culture have been disengaged by the Federal Government.
Segun Adeyemi, the Special Adviser to the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said the minister announced the disengagement on Monday, during a meeting he held with the chief executives of the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA), Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Voice of Nigeria (VON), News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (NBC) and the National Orientation Agency (NOA). Adeyemi said: “The minister directed the disengaged chief executives to hand over to the most senior officials in their various establishments.
“He thanked them for their service to the nation and wished them the best of luck in their future endeavours. “The affected chief executives are the director-generals of NTA, Mr. Sola Omole; FRCN, Mr. Ladan Salihu; VON, Mr Sam Worlu; NOA, Mr. Mike Omeri; NBC, Mr. Emeka Mba and the managing director of NAN, Mr. Ima Niboro).”

Men might now have to obtain written permission from wife before buying Viagra
A Kentucky lawmaker Rep. Mary Lou Marzian has proposed a bill requiring men who want Viagra, a drug used for erectile dysfunction, to get a signed note from their wives before their doctors can prescribe them the drug. The bill, sponsored by the Democrat, would also allow only married men to obtain such drugs.
In the proposed law, men will also visit a doctor or healthcare practitioner twice, on separate days, before obtaining Viagra or any other erectile dysfunction drug.
“I want to protect these men from themselves,” Marzian said, the Courier-Journal reported “This is about family values,” she added.The proposed law would also require “a man to make a sworn statement with his hand on a Bible that he will only use a prescription for a drug for erectile dysfunction when having sexual relations with his current spouse.”

Man United May Sack Van Gaal,To Appoint Jose Mourinho Before The End Of The Season
The Manchester United board are reportedly considering hiring Jose Mourinho by the end of this month in a desperate bid to salvage the club’s season. This decision was reportedly taken after Red Devils lost 2-1 to Sunderland on Saturday leaving them six points adrift of the top four.
The Sun reports that Chelsea former boss Mourinho may replace Van Gaal in time for United’s next league game at home to Arsenal on February 28, and though he’d prefer to take up the hotseat in the summer, United officials are considering bringing him in this month in a desperate bid to save the side’s faltering campaign.
They believe they will lose nothing by bringing in Mourinho before the end of the season and axing Van Gaal earlier than planned.

Pope John Paul II Had Intense Friendship With A Married Woman – BBC Reveals
Pope John Paul II had a close relationship with a married woman which lasted over 30 years, according to letters which feature in a documentary being shown by the BBC on Monday.
While the documentary does not claim he broke his vow of celibacy with Polish-born philosopher and writer Anna-Teresa Tymieniecka, the tone of some of his letters to her points to intense feelings between them, the broadcaster says.
The two spent camping and skiing holidays together and went on country walks. In one letter from September 1976, he calls her a “gift from God”. “My dear Teresa,” he writes. “You write about being torn apart, but I could find no answer to these words.”
Also in September 1976, he writes: “Already last year I was looking for an answer to these words, ‘I belong to you’, and finally, before leaving Poland, I found a way — a scapular.” A scapular is a piece of cloth worn as part of the habit of monastic orders and the then Cardinal Karol Wojtyla gave Tymieniecka his. “The dimension in which I accept and feel you everywhere in all kinds of situations, when you are close, and when you are far away,” he adds.
Edward Stourton, the senior BBC journalist who made the documentary, said more than 350 letters were found at the National Library of Poland, the first dated in 1973 and the last a few months before his death in 2005.
“I would say there were more than friends but less than lovers,” he said. “One of the fascinating stories that comes out of these letters is of a struggle to contain what was certainly a very intense relationship which mixed emotions and philosophical ideas in proper Christian boundaries.”
The BBC has only seen John Paul II’s letters, not Tymieniecka’s side of the correspondence. She died in 2014. John Paul II was pope from 1978 to 2005 and was made a saint by the Catholic Church after his death.
Biafra: We’ll Now Carry Arms In Self Defence – IPOB Members
Members of the pro-Biafra group, Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, have resolved to carry arms beginning from Wednesday February 17, 2016, ‘in self-defence’.
According to a statement by IPOB spokesperson, Emma Nmezu yesterday in Umuahia, Abia State, the group noted that failure to carry arms had exposed its members to attacks and killings by security agents.
“Now, we have come to the painful but irreversible conclusion and determination to take our fate and destiny in our own hands. Starting from Wednesday, February 17, 2016, “Biafrans” will now be in the mode of self defence as enshrined by the relevant acts and declarations of the United Nations.
“Let no country or world leader attempt to tag us as terrorists because we are not terrorists, rather we are fighting for our survival and from being exterminated from the surface of the earth,” the release said.
“We shall defend ourselves with everything and anything necessary to avoid the continual killing of our mothers, fathers, and children. This is the time for all Biafrans to rise and defend themselves. We cannot fold our arms and watch them kill us the second time after killing over two million of us in 1968”.
IPOB disclosed that in September last year, IPOB catalogued attacks on its members in a statement where it alerted the world on plans to provoke Biafrans into retaliation only for it to be tagged as a terrorist organization and Biafrans as terrorists.
