The primary contacts of the victim, numbering up to 121, are being closely monitored, adding that none of them have shown any sign or symptom of Lassa Fever.
The Ogun state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Babatunde Ipayehas confirmed that one victim has died of Lassa Fever in the state.
Ipaye also told newsmen that pregnant woman has also contracted the disease, adding that she has been moved to the isolation centre at the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu.
The commissioner said “The deceased was responding positively to treatment before she started developing complications on Saturday.
“The state government was planning to celebrate the success of her case while the family was planning a thanksgiving Service before her death.”
He also said the primary contacts of the victim, numbering up to 121, are being closely monitored, adding that none of them have shown any sign or symptom of Lassa Fever.
Ipaye also told newsmen that the family of the dead victim has been instructed to bury him, in line with the World Health Organisation and National Protocol on management of Lassa fever.
