Dangote Listed Among World’s 50 Most Influential Persons
Africa's richest man, Aliko Dangote, has been named among the 50 most influential personalities in the world by Bloomberg, a business and financial news media in the US. The list consisted of CEOs, world leaders as well as religious leaders.
According to Bloomberg, those who made the list are businessmen & women who "build companies and assemble fortunes. They run banks, or hope to disrupt them. They shape economies and spread ideas. He’s feted like royalty. He has businesses ranging from cement to sugar to energy in a dozen sub-Saharan countries. He’s a fixture at elite gatherings such as the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. No African has ridden the continent’s halting march out of poverty toward potential prosperity as spectacularly as its richest person, the Nigerian industrialist Aliko Dangote.
Dangote’s clout extends beyond the boardroom and the high-flier dinner circuit. In March, as votes were tallied in Nigeria’s presidential election, Dangote, 58, served as an intermediary between the camps of the incumbent, Goodluck Jonathan, and his ultimately victorious rival, Muhammadu Buhari. “There’s no question that he is quite an exceptional person—not only in Africa but globally,” says Mark Mobius, chairman of the emerging-markets group at Franklin Templeton Investments.
Today, Dangote is seeking to export his business empire and his influence beyond his terror-racked and corruption-riddled home country. Nigeria is responsible for about 85 percent of his fortune, which stood at $13.9 billion as of Sept. 9, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. He’s planning new cement factories across Africa and as far afield as Nepal and Brazil.
He’s considering taking Dangote Cement public on the London Stock Exchange and has even floated the idea of buying his beloved Arsenal, a top-ranking soccer club in the English Premier League. “I’m surprised I’m getting even four hours of sleep a day,” Dangote says. “We’re going ahead full steam.” The wealth Dangote has amassed is particularly conspicuous in a country as poor as Nigeria, which the International Monetary Fund ranked 122nd in the world in gross domestic product per capita last year. “You really see the inequalities,” then-president Jonathan said in May last year at a World Economic Forum conclave in Abuja, the Nigerian capital. Citing Dangote by name, Jonathan said, “Income distribution is skewed toward a few people.”
Dangote says his critics are being churlish. “Instead of studying how Dangote succeeded, they’re busy complaining,” he says. When he says that, he’s speaking above the thrum of his private jet as it makes its way back home to Lagos from Addis Ababa after an hourlong meeting with Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn. But compared with the lifestyles of some tycoons, Dangote’s is understated. Divorced from his wife, the mother of his three adult daughters, he lives on Lagos’s Victoria Island. It’s one of Africa’s most expensive neighborhoods, but the home is far from lavish. Adjacent to a Mitsubishi dealership, the house is sparsely decorated, with a modest half-moon-shaped swimming pool set in a small garden.
Dangote grew up in the city of Kano on the edge of the Sahara, raised by his maternal grandfather, a wealthy rice and commodities trader. In his early 20s, he left for Lagos in search of fat profits buying and selling sugar, textiles, and cement in the fast-growing city. Soon, he was earning enough “to buy a Mercedes 200 every day,” he says. These days, he’s fallen on what are for him hard times. His net worth has tumbled by some $10 billion in the past two years because of the crash in the price of crude and unrest in Nigeria. Even so, he remains characteristically upbeat. Diezani Played God, Even Jonathan Could Not Tame Her – Agbaje
Lagos-based constitutional lawyer, Fred Agbaje has urged the incoming ministers to learn from the ongoing trial of former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke.
Diezani is being tried in the United Kingdom (UK) by Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA) for alleged bribery and corruption-related charges.
In an interview with Daily Independent, Agbaje said Diezani’s trial was a manifestation that the war against corruption spearheaded by President Muhammadu Buhari was gaining ground and that looters of the nation’s patrimony would not escape justice.
He lamented how Diezani behaved like “a thin god and was so powerful that even her boss, former President Goodluck Jonathan could not tame her.”
“It is not only a welcome development but also a manifestation that the war against corruption is being recognised both locally and internationally. It is a testimony to the fact that there is no hiding place for any criminal in Nigeria again”.
“The world has indeed become a global village. Anybody who commits a crime in Nigeria and takes to his or heels by seeking sanctuary abroad cannot escape justice. Anywhere you are in the world, you will be smoked out to come and face trial.
“The likes of Diezani, who became a thin god in Nigeria when she was in office should know that the end of culture of impunity has come with the war against corruption in Nigeria. They were the laws of the land during Jonathan’s regime.
“Jonathan became so helpless in taming the ministers he appointed. The ministers became so powerful beyond redemption.
“One is happy that one of them is being tried internationally now. It is a good show for the fight against corruption and will make the incoming ministers know that there is fire on the mountain. They themselves will have to run”, he said.

are “afraid to give decisions to
Chelsea” in the wake of Saturday’s
home defeat by Southampton.
The Portuguese was infuriated that
Robert Madley did not award his side a
second-half penalty when Maarten
Stekelenburg darted off his line and
made contact with Radamel Falcao in
the box. The Colombian, who appeared
to have been falling when contact was
made, was booked for a dive.
Southampton had been denied two
spot-kicks earlier in the contest when
Virgil van Dijk was tugged down by
Branislav Ivanovic and Ramires
appeared to step on Sadio Mane’s foot.
Mourinho, whose team capitulated
immediately after the non-award of
the spot kick to Chelsea, appeared to
acknowledge he would be sanctioned
before launching into his criticism of
the officials in a seven-minute
monologue delivered to Sky
immediately after the game. “I think,
first of all, I want to say that because
we are in such a bad moment you
should not be afraid to be honest,” he
said. “When we are at the top there is
quite big pleasure in putting us down.
But when you are so down I think it is
time to be honest and say clearly that
referees are afraid to give decisions to
Chelsea.
“At 1-1 there is a huge penalty and,
once more, we do not get it. It was at a
crucial moment in the game. I repeat,
if the FA wants to punish me they can
punish me, it is not a problem. But I
want to repeat because my players
deserve it, Chelsea fans deserve it. I
am a Chelsea fan too. I want to say
again that referees are afraid to give
decisions to Chelsea. Why? Because
when they do give there is always a
question mark from you, there is
always a critic. So we are always
punished.
“We are [already] punished because
Diego Costa is suspended with images.
In other matches we see it doesn’t
happen. Clear penalties were not
given. Even in the Champions League
[at Porto] when we lost 2-1, a game
with not three officials but five, we are
not given a penalty in the last minute.
And this decision was crucial. Do you
know why? Because my team, in this
moment, collapse with the first
negative thing that happens. It was a
giant penalty that he was afraid to
give. Like everybody else is afraid to
give.”

The FA confirmed the charge in a
statement released on Monday
evening, alleging Mourinho’s remarks
“constitute improper conduct in that
they allege and/or imply bias on the
part of a match official or match
officials and/or bring the game into
disrepute.” The Chelsea manager has
until 6pm on Thursday to respond to
the charge.
Although there are no set punishments
for breaches of rules such as this while
conducting media duties, the manager
is likely to be fined if found guilty.
That would be his fourth such sanction
since returning to English football in
2013, following an altercation with
Chris Foy on the pitch at Aston Villa
and a sarcastic appraisal of Mike
Dean’s performance in a defeat by
Sunderland, both in his first season
back in the Premier League.
Those brought fines of £8,000 and
£10,000 respectively, with the
manager fined £25,000 in January
after claiming a “campaign” had been
mounted against Chelsea after a draw
against Southampton at the end of last
year. On that occasion Cesc FÃ bregas
had been booked for simulation by the
referee, Anthony Taylor, having been
fouled by Matt Targett.

It is reported that Dangote brought her up and trained her through University after Fatima Bello Dangote lost her father alongside Ibrahim Abacha in a plane crash in 1996. She lost her life in a private hospital in the United Kingdom on Friday after a 2-year battle with brain cancer.She was buried in London last week according to Islamic rites.

'I don't feel sexy, either, I feel insecure and most of the time I just feel gross,' Kim revealed of her state of mind during pregnancy.

Liverpool sacks Rodgers after poor start
AFP – Liverpool sacked manager Brendan Rodgers on Sunday (Oct 4) following a year of disappointing results that culminated in a poor start to the current season.
The announcement came just hours after Liverpool had held Everton to a 1-1 draw in the Merseyside derby at Goodison Park with another unconvincing performance.
Rodgers, 42, took Liverpool to the brink of the Premier League title in 2014, but they finished sixth last season and are currently 10th in the table with 12 points from eight games.
“We would like to place on record our sincere thanks to Brendan Rodgers for the significant contribution he has made to the club and express our gratitude for his hard work and commitment,” said a joint-statement from principal owner John W Henry, chairman Tom Werner and president Mike Gordon.
“All of us have experienced some wonderful moments with Brendan as manager and we are confident he will enjoy a long career in the game.
“Although this has been a difficult decision, we believe it provides us with the best opportunity for success on the pitch. Ambition and winning are at the heart of what we want to bring to Liverpool and we believe this change gives us the best opportunity to deliver it.

An air hostess reportedly earned almost $1million in two years by having sex with aeroplane passengers in the toilet.
The woman's illicit activity went unnoticed until she was caught in a compromising position in the toilet and subsequently sacked.
This air hostess reportedly worked for an airline in the Middle East.
A source speaking to the Saudi Arabic language daily Sada said:
"She admitted that she had sex with many other passengers during flight and that she preferred long distance flights between the Gulf and the United States."Airline sources said the woman charged Dh7,400 (a little above $2000) for each mile high liaison, and always found someone willing to pay her that amount on every flight.
The airline has not been named specifically, but Sada has reported that the flight attendant was immediately sacked and then deported.
Buhari Must Be Screened If He'll Be The Petroleum Minister - Senators
STRONG indications have emerged that tomorrow’s plenary session, where the Senate would unveil the ministerial list sent by President Muhammadu Buhari, may be stormy as senators are saying the President must, in line with the constitution, submit himself before the Upper Chamber for screening if he appointed himself Minister of Petroleum.
They are also set to reject an incomplete list, saying the constitution provides for a nominee from each state of the federation and that any list that did not cover the 36 states would suffer serious opposition on the floor of the Senate.
The senators have also vowed that they would not be cowed by the trial of Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, at the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, just as they promised to adopt stringent measures in line with the provisions of the Constitution during the screening of ministerial nominees.
They added that the tradition of take-a-bow for senators coming for screening as ministers would be jettisoned, adding that they were prepared to send names of nominees to the sender of such a list.
Senate President, Dr. Saraki, is currently facing trial at CCT, following a 13-count charge levelled against him by the Code of Conduct Bureau, CCB, bordering on alleged corruption and false declaration of assets in 2003 and summoned him to appear before it, which he did.
Expect Bomb Blasts In 4 Different Parts Of Abuja - Abuja prophet warns
An Abuja-based cleric, Prophet Victor Ajibishe of Solid Mountain Prayer Ministry (SMPM), has predicted another terrifying bomb blast in Abuja, which he said God showed him in a revelation.
Speaking during yesterday’s church Sunday service, Prophet Ajibishe said the next blast would occur in the central areas of Abuja. “It might likely be more than two places in the central areas of the metropolis. It might extend to four places, and it is certain that it would occur,” he said.
He added that the people behind the blast want to make sure they attack to challenge the authority of some famous pastors who are speaking against their evil acts.
“The attack will affect the pastor’s church. They are big churches in Abuja, and the explosion would really make a lot of people cry because the loss would be much,” Ajibishe said.
He reminded the congregation that his prophecy had come to pass about another bomb blast in Nyanya, of which he recalled he told them about two months ago.
He said: “I told us there would be blast on the outskirt of Abuja very soon and it happened. So, anybody should not doubt this prophecy. It will happen. Anything God shows me, it comes to pass.”
The cleric, however, asked the congregants to pray to avert the death of their loved ones in the impending bomb blast attack prophesied to occur soon.
“That is the reason why we must pray. It will happen certainly, but you have to pray so that death will escape your family members and loved ones,” he said.
