Nigeria Will Overcome Challenges – Mbaka
Rev. Father Ejike Mbaka of the Adoration Ministries based in Enugu on Friday declared that Nigeria will definitely succeed.
Speaking with State House correspondents after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, he assured that Nigeria will overcome the challenges presently facing it.
He said: “We have come to commit the nation into the hands of God and pray for peace and God should establish His blessings in our country.
“We wish to pray for the revamping of the economy. We are committing Aso Rock into the hands of God. We are also here to commit Nigeria to Jesus, that this 2015 Christmas, Nigerians will say God is great.
“Pray for blessing for our people, I want to assure Nigerians that in the midst of what is happening, we shall succeed, the time of promotion is coming,” he added.
On the agitation for Biafra, he said that he did not discuss it with the President, saying: “I am silent on everything about Biafra.”
On the claim that he is controversial, he said: “People can say what they want to say, I am a happy man.”
During the last administration, the clergy had predicted the exit of former President Goodluck Jonathan from power in the period leading to the March 2015 Presidential election.
True to his prediction, Jonathan lost the election to President Muhammadu Buhari.

FG issues security alert, says Boko Haram plans abduction for ransom
The Federal Government warned on Friday that Boko Haram terrorists, who have been beaten and put on the run by the military, are planning another sensational abduction of pupils/students or foreigners in a desperate effort to raise funds, through ransom, for food, medical and arms supply.In a statement issued in Abuja, the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said the planned abduction is in line with the terrorists' new modus operandi of focusing on soft targets, having being routed from their stronghold and their capacity to stage spectacular attacks substantially degraded.
He said while the largely defeated terrorists have now concentrated their attacks on soft targets, like motor parks, schools and entertainment centres, they have been decimated to a level that they are now incapable of staging spectacular attacks like they used to do.
''The kidnap of the Chibok girls in 2014, which attracted global attention to the terrorist group, is what it is now trying to repeat, hoping it can find vulnerable targets, especially schools, or a group of foreigners outside the frontline states.
''The plan by Boko Haram is also part of an overall strategy by the terrorists to seek to negatively impact on the psyche of the gallant troops who have routed them (terrorists) from their stronghold and also give the impression that they have not been largely defeated by the December 2015 deadline given by this Administration to effectively degrade the insurgency in the North-east.
''This is why we have decided to issue this alert to enable the authorities of both public primary and secondary schools in remote locations, particular in the Northern states, to upgrade security arrangements.
''It is also aimed at alerting the general public, operators of hotels and entertainment centres, motor parks and similar facilities to also upgrade their security arrangements for the holidays,'' the Minister said.
He assured that the Federal Government will build on the successes recorded by the military, which has largely met the deadline to degrade the capability of Boko Haram.
''Smoked out of their hideouts and badly bruised by our gallant military, the Boko Haram terrorists are desperate, especially in the face of the depletion of their food supplies. In their desperation, they will not hesitate to embark on actions they feel can still make them relevant or enhance their survival. But the military is ready and able to prevent that,'' the Minister said.

3 'Konga' online retail outlet staff Arrested over phone theft worth N9.6m
The men; Ibrahim Maradesa, Oluwatoyin Salau and Jerry Idenudia are standing trial on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
The Prosecutor, Inspector Roman Unuigbe, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Nov. 4, at about 6:00p.m. They allegedly stole 500 units of Infinix Hot2 16 GB12 valued at N9.6 million, which happens to be the property of Konga online retailer.
According to him, the accused, who are drivers with the company, diverted a truck loaded with the items to an undisclosed destination. The accused men pleaded not guilty to the charge. The Magistrate, Mr P.A. Ojo, then admitted them to bail of N500, 000 each, with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case till Feb. 17, 2016 for substantive trial.

IG Sacks 50 Police Officers Over Corruption
In his bid to trash out corruption from the force, the Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase said under his leadership Nigeria Police has fought corruption to the barest minimum, and in the process about 50 police officers caught in corrupt practices and misconduct have been dismissed.
Speaking at the end of year IG Conference, Arase said, “Between May and November, 2015, the anti-corruption enforcement architecture emplaced by the Force leadership has led to the dismissal of a total of 50 personnel for proven corrupt practices while another 56 have been awarded various punishments.
“The IGP Monitoring Unit, X-Squad and the Provost Marshal have been charged to sustain the enforcement drive in the upcoming year while the policy of holding Commissioners of Police, Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers, vicariously liable for such distasteful professional misconduct will also be reinforced.”
