Linda Ikeji Drags Wizkid To Police Commissioner

By     No comments:

The on-going war between Nigerian blogger, Linda Ikeji and pop star, Wizkid has taken a new turn.

For starters, Wizkid and Linda Ikeji aren’t best of friends.

WIZKID continues to express his disdain for the blogger and never fails to take shots at her at any opportunity.

Ikeji, who’s developed a thick skin, after years of multiple celeb spats, hasn’t let the singer’s attitude debar her from covering his misdemeanours.

She joined other blogs to report on his alleged second baby mama. But their beef got worse early April when Linda Ikeji’s blog alleged that Wizkid had been served a quit notice from his Lekki residence in Lagos.

Wizkid who was at Congo at the time took to social media to lash out at the blogger. He was uncouth in his rant, even threatening to arrange to have the blogger beaten.

‘If I ever see you, I’ll get my 16 year old cousin to beat the poo out of you’ he said.

Many pundits told THENETng at the time that there are legal implications should the blogger report to the police.

We can now confirm that Ikeji has reported the threat to the Lagos State commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni.

A source with details told Nigerian Entertainment Today a summon has been issued to Wizkid, with an invitation letter sent to the Surulere office of his manager, SundayAre.

‘He was instructed to show up today but he did not’, a source told us.

His manager, Sunday Are didn’t pick our calls or respond to our messages.

We also reached out to ASP Olorunfemi Shemof Lagos state police who promised to get back to us. He has not responded as at the time of publishing this report.

Linda Ikeji declined to comment.

According to a legal source, Section 323 of the criminal code states that ‘Any person who, knowing the contents thereof directly or indirectly causes any person to receive any writing threatening to kill any person is guilty of a felony, and is liable to imprisonment for 7 years’.

FG Approves Air Peace Now To Fly Directly To China

By     No comments:

The Nigerian government has granted an airliner, Air Peace, a license to operate international flights from southeast city of Enugu to China and other areas, an official said Thursday.

The recognition would open a new vista in the economy of the state, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the state governor during the closing ceremony of the First Enugu Investment Summit.

The governor said by approving the license of the airline, President Muhammadu Buhari had shown himself as having the interest of all sections of the country at heart.

Ugwuanyi said the state would never be the same again having had a successful summit that attracted investors across the world. "We have not only showcased the vast potentials in the state, but from reactions of participants, it does appear that we have been able to provoke an unprecedented interest from investors across the world," he added.

Earlier in his presentation, the Chairman of Air Peace Ltd, Allen Onyema, said the airline would soon commence flights from the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu to China.

The chairman said it was time for Nigeria to be a hub for West and Central African sub-regions.

"President Muhammadu Buhari in his magnanimity on March 31, 2016 approved for us the right to fly to five different countries and we decided now to make Enugu State the hub," he said. Onyema said Air Peace would fly to India, United Arab Emirates, South Africa, Atlanta in the U.S. and China, adding that the China flight would commence in a few months.

"There is no other airline in West and Central Africa that flies direct to China," he added.

"We will use our airline to bring passengers from countries in West and Central Africa to Enugu and move them to China," Onyema said.

"We are going to deploy a cargo plane that will do nonstop flights to Enugu," Onyema said

NNPC Deploys 200 Trucks As Port-Harcourt Refinery Hits 5million litres Daily Production

By     No comments:

Port Harcourt Refining Company, PHRC, Nigeria’s biggest refinery, has been re-streamed and now producing between three and five million litres daily, according to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC.
The re-streaming of the refinery, which had been down for months due to poor maintenance and shortage of crude feedstock, the management said, was aimed at optimising available capacity at the plant to alleviate the suffering of Nigerians in accessing petroleum products, particular premium motor spirit (petrol).
NNPC Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division, Mr. Garba Muhammad, who confirmed this in a telephone interview with Vanguard yesterday, also said Warri and Kaduna refineries were gearing up for production over the next couple of weeks as, according to him, “we have begun to supply crude to the refineries, but we are waiting to build up crude reserves before we fire them up in the next two weeks or so.”
Meanwhile, the Managing Director, PHRC, Dr Bafred Audu Enjugu, was quoted in a report as saying that the Fluid Catalytic Cracking Unit, FCCU, had been running, while some products from the primary processing units have been blended to generate significant volumes of PMS.
He said the premier refinery would sustain its production and contribute to the nation’s petroleum products pool, which he hopes will reduce the pressure on the nation’s foreign exchange.
In another development, NNPC has urged motorists to desist from panic buying of fuel, saying it had deployed over 200 truckloads of petrol to Abuja and its environs.
The NNPC in a statement by Muhammad, assured that the current petrol shortage would soon be over, noting that the problem had been largely resolved in Lagos, while the queues in Abuja were reducing by the day.
… seals filling stations
Also, the Department of Petroleum Resources, DPR, has vowed to clampdown on petrol stations found hoarding the product and engaging in other sharp practices.
Speaking during a tour of petrol stations in Abuja, DPR’s Director, Petroleum Resources, Mr. Mordecai Ladan, said DPR was stepping up its monitoring activities and would mete out severe sanctions to petrol stations found wanting.
He called on marketers to shun sharp practices and support the efforts of the Federal Government as well as other stakeholders in bringing an end to the fuel crisis.
During the tour, two filling stations were sealed, while the product of another filling station, an NNPC affiliate station, Tempo, was dispensed to motorists for free.
The two stations that were sealed are Zen-Hajad and Kubewas Oil Service, all in Gauraka, Kaduna Road.
Ladan said ZHL was sealed for hoarding and diversion, while Kubewas for abandoning their station on sighting the DPR monitoring team.

Sambo Dasuki Wins FG At ECOWAS Court

By     No comments:

former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, on Monday triumphed at the Economic Community for West African States (ECOWAS) court in the first leg of his court action challenging his alleged unlawful arrest and detention since December last year by the Nigerian government.

Against the objection of government, the court ruled in Abuja that it has jurisdiction to entertain the suit brought before it by Mr. Dasuki for the enforcement of his fundamental rights to liberty and to own property as enshrined in the Nigerian 1999 constitution and African Charter on fundamental rights of persons, news agency, PRNigeria, is reporting.

In the ruling delivered by Justice Friday Chijoke Nwoke, the ECOWAS court dismissed the objection of government against Mr. Dasuki’s suit on the ground that the objection was misconceived, frivolous and lacked merit.

Justice Nwoke who delivered the unanimous ruling by the three-member panel of the court, held that the claim of government that Mr. Dasuki’s case emanated from his trial on certain offences was inappropriate since the relieves sought by Mr. Dasuki had nothing to do with his ongoing trial at the domestic courts of Nigeria.

The justices held that the claim of government that Mr. Dasuki ought to have filed contempt charge against the Nigerian government for disobeying court orders cannot be sustained because the case of the applicant is not ambiguous, in that it has no root from any criminal trial in any court.

Justice Nwoke said at any rate, the claim by the Nigerian government could not stand in the face of the law because there was no evidence that Mr. Dasuki had filed similar matter in any international court.

The judge said even if he had similar matter in any Nigerian court (up to Supreme Court), such a domestic court would not be allowed the status of an international court as envisaged in the treaty in which Nigeria is signatory.

“In our opinion, what Dasuki brought before us as a case is an issue for the enforcement of his fundamental rights to liberty and own property and against unlawful arrest, unlawful detention and unlawful seizure of properties without any court order or warrant of arrest.

Foramfera
“From the totality of the issues brought before this court, it is clear and there is no ambiguity that the applicant is seeking enforcement of his right to freedom and not on the issue of his trial for any alleged offence before any Nigerian court”.
Justice Nwoke further said, “Therefore, the objection of the government and the request that the case of the applicant in this matter be struck out on the ground of emanating from any criminal matter has no basis, the claims and the request lack merit and hereby dismissed and we declare that the application of Dasuki is admissible to this court,” the court said.
The sub-regional court said it was not out to decide the issue of whether the applicant is guilty of the charges against him in the Nigerian courts or not but simply to ascertain whether his continued detention, having been granted bail in criminal matters and rearrested since last year and kept in an unknown place, constitute an abuse of his rights to freedom.
Mr. Dasuki, through his lawyer, Robert Emukpoeruo and Wale Balogun, had filed an action before the ECOWAS court to complain that Nigerian security agencies invaded his homes in Abuja, Kaduna and Sokoto without any court order or warrant of arrest and seized his properties, comprising vehicles, money and documents, an action he argued amounted to abuse of his rights to liberty as enshrined in section 36 and 34 of the 1999 constitution and other international laws to which Nigeria is signatory.
Besides, he complained that the invasion of his homes by operatives of government traumatised his 94-year old father who became traumatised and had, up till now, yet to recover from the sickness that followed.

Mr. Dasuki therefore asked the ECOWAS court to award N500million compensatory damages in his favour having been denied access to medical attention abroad as ordered by a Nigerian court since November last year.

The government, through its lawyer, Tijani Gazali, had objected to Mr. Dasuki’s case on the ground that the ECOWAS court had no jurisdiction to dabble into the trial of any Nigerian in a Nigerian court and asked the ECOWAS court to strike out the case, saying it constituted an abuse to the Nigerian courts.
After the court dismissed the objection of the Nigerian government, it fixed May 17 and 18, 2016 for hearing of the substantive matter._

‘national ID Card To Replace Voters Card In 2019 Election’.

By     No comments:

THE Delta State coordinator of the National Identity Management Commission, NIMC, Henrietta Okolo has said that if things go as planned, the NIMC identity card might be used in place of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, voter’s card in the 2019 general elections.
Giving the disclosure at the palace of the Orodje of Okpe during the visit to the monarch on Tuesday, the NIMC boss while harping on the efficacy of the card, also disclosed that the Federal Ministry of Agriculture has concluded plans to give loans and farming items to 300, 000 farmers in Delta State through its National Agricultural Payment Initiative, NAPI, in partnership with the commission.
According to her, though the federal government has not given nod for the use of the identity card for voting, the plan is to use the card which also serves as a Master Card, as the major means of identification for all Nigerians including for voting during elections.
“For the agricultural scheme, we are looking at enrolling 300, 000 farmers in Delta State to benefit from this scheme. Though we are in the early stage of the scheme, Delta State is among 15 states in the country selected for the programme,” she stated.
Earlier, the Orodje of Okpe, HRM Orhue 1, while applauding the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and NIMC for the support to farmers, promised to work with district heads in his kingdom to ensure that farmers register and benefit from the programme

Pipeline vandals will suffer same fate as Boko Haram - Buhari

By     No comments:

President Buhari Wednesday warned vandals and saboteurs blowing up oil and gas installations in Nigeria to desist immediately or face the same drastic action being taken against Boko Haram by the Armed Forces.
Speaking at a meeting with members of the Nigerian Community in Beijing, China, President Buhari also reaffirmed his total commitment to winning the war against corruption, saying that corruption was an arch-enemy of the nation which has destroyed the lives of many Nigerians.
"I ask for your support to make our vision of stamping out corruption a reality in the shortest possible time. Whoever is caught will not be spared. The government is still being dared, but those who are sensible should have learnt a lesson. Those who are mad, let them continue in their madness. I am aware that in the last two weeks, the national grid collapsed a number of times. I hope this message will reach the vandals and saboteurs who are blowing up pipelines and installations. We will deal with them the way we dealt with Boko Haram," the President declared.
President Buhari assured the Nigerian Community that the Federal Government was working very hard to overcome current national challenges and deliver on its promise of a better Nigeria.
"Clearly, our vision of a diversified and inclusive economy will not be achieved overnight. It will be a long, and in some cases, painful journey. I am very confident we will get there. But we must start that journey now. We hear proposals for short cuts or quick wins. However, all we need to do is look at our history to know that there are no quick wins or short cuts in fixing Nigeria. The many decades of damage and destruction cannot be repaired overnight. The reform program we are implementing is not because oil prices are below $45 per barrel today. It is because when oil prices were over $100 per barrel, majority of Nigerians were still suffering. They were simply forgotten and left behind. So, our reforms are to ensure that the majority of Nigerians are not left behind," the President told the gathering.
President Buhari also assured the Nigerian community that his administration was fulfilling its promise to improve security across the country.
"When we came into office in 2015, Boko Haram insurgents occupied 14 Local Government Areas. Today, I am pleased to say the insurgents have been routed out of these local governments and their capacity to fight as a force has been significantly degraded. We will continue working hard to ensure that the group is eliminated. This is achievable. And we will not settle for anything less," he said.

Chris Giwa vows to take over NFF secretariat from Amaju Pinnick ignores FIFA warning

By     No comments:

Chris Giwa has reiterated his desire to take over leadership of the Nigerian Football Federation from Amaju Pinnick despite FIFA's warning.
The World's football governing body, FIFA had through it's secretary general Markus Kattner warned the NFF to refuse any court order asking for the current president Amaju Pinnick to be replaced, saying Giwa had already taken the election case to the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) and lost.
But Chris Giwa says it his right to resume office and as long as Nigerian laws are concerned, they are the recognized elected body of the NFF.
“That is our secretariat and we will be there. I haven’t resumed there because I just came in to Abuja but we will be at the secretariat tomorrow (Wednesday),” he said to journalists.
“That is our secretariat and you (the media) already saw our board members there on Friday and they all waited for me yesterday.
“One of the reasons we weren’t there (Glass House) yesterday was because we wanted to get the court order signed so that all relevant authorities would be served and to the glory of God we have done that, so it is our right.
“I repeat it, it is our right and as long as Nigerian laws are concerned, we are the recognized elected body of the Nigeria Football Federation, so it is our right. We will be there by the grace of God,” Giwa emphatically declared.
The Giwa board also said all State FA board have been suspended as their elections conducted under the Amaju Pinnick board are illegal and unknown to law.
“Based on the Order of the Federal High Court Jos which nullified the Warri elections, that has guaranteed the fact that all actions undertaken by the Amaju Pinnick board are illegal and unknown to law.
