Sacked Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) Directors Recalled By FG

FG recalls sacked NCAA directors

The Federal Government has recalled two out of the nine directors who were sacked from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) on Friday.

The duo are Alhaji Adamu Abdullahi,Director of Consumer Protection, and Capt. Ayodele Sasegbon, Director of General Aviation.

Mr Sam Adurogboye, General Manager, Public Relations, NCAA, confirmed the development to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in Lagos.

“I can confirm that two of the directors, Abdullahi and Sasegbon have been recalled and their sack rescinded, ” he said.

NAN reports that the government, through the Ministry of Transportation, had on Friday sacked the duo and other directors in the aviation regulatory agency with immediate effect.

The directors affected by the purge were Alhaji Salawu Ozigi (Director of Finance and Accounts), Dr Joyce Nkemakolam (Director of Aerodrome and Airspace Standards) and Mr Aba Ejembi (Director of Administration).

Others are Mr Emmanuel Ogunbami (Director of Licensing), Mr Benedict Adeyileka (Director of Airworthiness), Mr Justus Wariya (Director of Air Transport Regulation) and Mr Austin-Amadi Ifeanyi (Director of Human Resources).

The affected directors were immediately ordered to handover to their next subordinate who will in the interim take charge of the activities in their directorates.

It will be recalled that the government had on Oct. 12,2016 sacked or demoted 22 directors and general managers of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).

The restructuring was based on the recommendations of the Presidential Committee chaired by the Head of Service of the Federation, Mrs Winifred Oyo-Ita.

The Minister of State for Aviation, Sen. Hadi Sirika, had said the restructuring would be extended to the NCAA and the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency which were also currently overbloated. (NAN)

AGC CRISIS : Paul Emeka Loses At Supreme Court

The leadership crisis rocking the Assemblies of God Church came to an end on Friday. This is as the Supreme Court in a unanimous judgement by four Justices, resolved all the issues in favour of the General Council of the Church.

‎With this judgement, Rev. Dr. Chidi Okoroafor has now been confirmed as the authentic General Superintendent of the Church.

DAILY POST has it that the Church had for some years now been enmeshed in a serious leadership crisis, which culminated into dividing the Church into two groups.

‎Following the suspension of Rev. Paul Emeka by the General Council, he had approached an Enugu State High Court where he got a favourable judgement.
The General Council proceeded to the Appeal Court where the judgement of the lower court was upturned.

Emeka later headed to the Supreme Court insisting that his fundamental rights were trampled upon.

But in a judgement by Justice Paul Adamu Galinje, Justice Ejembi Eko, Justice Kudirat Motonmori Olatokunbo Kekere Ekun, and Justice Clara Ogunbiyi, they held that the issue of fundamental human rights as raised by Emeka does not hold waters in the case.

Court ruled that fundamental right enforcement could not fly over the Assemblies of God leadership.

UniIlorin Lecturer Suspended For Whistle Blowing

Affected lecturers on their part alleged that they are being victimized for exposing corruption in the institution.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abdulganiyu Ambali while noting that the suspension was necessary distanced his office from the action.

One of the affected lecturer, Afolayan noted that though the reason for their suspension was not known but believed it has to do with their blowing of whistle of alleged impunity and corruption in the institution.

However, the Factional Vice Chairman of ASUU, Dr Bode Olumorin has called on the federal government to come to their aid, adding that since the government advised people to point out corrupt practices, they should not be abandoned.

The period for the suspension was not mentioned in the letter and the suspended lecturers had petitioned their national body for redress.

With both parties sticking to their positions, interest groups in the university are looking forward to a compromise.

As Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari was beginning his latest visit to London more than a month ago, a new series of Big Brother Nigeria was getting under way.

A former military ruler known for his no-nonsense style would appear to have little in common with a reality TV show where contestants engage in attention-seeking behaviour.

But both subjects were soon generating headlines for the same reason - neither of them were in Nigeria.
It turned out that Big Brother was actually being filmed in South Africa - a decision that led Nigeria's information minister to launch an investigation.
While the howls of protests from outraged Big Brother fans soon died down, the clamour over Nigeria's leader's extended medical stay in London is not going away.

President Buhari's absence comes as Africa's most populous nation is gripped by its worst economic crisis in decades, and faces the threat of famine in north-east Nigeria, which has been devastated by the Boko Haram insurgency.

And unlike Big Brother, there are no constant updates - in fact, President Buhari, 74, has not given a single interview since arriving in the UK.
Instead, the Nigerian public is relying on pictures - posted on Twitter - of their leader meeting senior UK officials as proof that he still is alive.

The latest statement issued by the government said there was "no cause for worry" about the president's health but his medical leave was being extended.
Nigerians have now heard their leader's voice for the first time since he left for the UK after a telephone conversation with the governor of the northern state of Kano was played out loud at a prayer meeting.
His month-long stay so far has angered some Nigerians after he promised to crack down on "medical tourism" by officials.

Last June, President Buhari spent nearly two weeks in London receiving treatment for an ear infection.
But the bigger issue this time is that officials have repeatedly refused to disclose his illness and are not saying when he will return to Nigeria.
'Urgent decisions'
In a country where rumours are rife, the presidential statements have done little to dampen the speculation about the leader's health.

Nigerians are acutely sensitive to leaders travelling abroad for medical reasons after President Umaru Yar'Adua died while in office in 2010.

For months, the public was kept in the dark while he received treatment in Saudi Arabia.
The period of uncertainty created deep political instability in the country.

The current president's supporters say that is emphatically not the case this time.
They point to the fact that President Buhari constitutionally handed over power to his vice-president, Yemi Osinbajo, as he has done on previous trips, rather than governing from afar.

He did take one phone call while in London, however, from the US President Donald Trump - the first between the two leaders.

"There is no vacuum at the top," says political analyst Jibrin Ibrahim.

"President Buhari takes his constitutional role seriously, and has not personalised power, unlike other African leaders.

Lack of authority?

"My chief criticism is that his government has been acting like it has all the time in the world, when in fact urgent decisions needed to be made in regard to the economy."

But, perhaps, one of the most striking things about President Buhari's absence has been the go-getting style of the acting leader.

Yemi Osinbajo is preparing to launch an economic recovery plan.

He also led a high-profile delegation to the Niger Delta to voice support for a government agreement with local militants groups that have seriously disrupted the region's oil production.

But critics say that despite all his activity, the vice-president has no real authority.

"He cannot perform because ministers and other political appointments are not obliged to be loyal to him as he didn't appoint them," said Isuwa Dogo, a political analyst, and a member of the opposition party.
"President Buhari is a public figure and there is no need for him to hide behind his health issues.

"I want him to be back in the county. If there are successes, he will get the credit. If there are failures, he will get the blame."

So, while Big Brother fans will know in April who has been crowned the series winner, for now, no-one seems to know when Nigeria's president will come back home.

Xenophobia : FG Warns S-africa Of Dire Consequences Of Attacks On Nigerian

In a statement issued in Abuja, Dabiri-Erewa described the
attacks as an unnecessary setback. Urging restraint on the
part of Nigerians, she warned that further attacks without
any reprimand may incur dire consequences.
She spoke as the Senate, yesterday, called for harder
stance against South Africa on the issue, just as the
Chairman, House Committee on Diaspora Matters, Rita Orji,
condemned alleged lackadaisical attitude of the Federal
Government towards the protection of Nigerians outside
the country, saying the government was more interested in
remittances than the welfare of citizens abroad.
Anyene said the union had reported the incident to the
Nigeria mission and South African police.
“As we speak, five buildings with Nigerian businesses,
including a church, have been looted and burned by South
Africans.
‘’One of the buildings is a mechanic workshop with 28 cars
under repairs, with other vital documents burnt during the
attack. Also, the pastor of the church was wounded and is
in the hospital receiving treatment,” Anyene said.
Disturbed by the renewed attacks, Dabiri-Erewa advised
Nigerians to be extra cautious because it looked like South
African government seemed to have no control over the
attacks.
The SSA, however, urged restraint on the part of Nigerians
and warned that further attacks without any reprimand may
have dire consequences.
Dabiri-Erewa said the AU was being called to intervene
because information had it that there will be more
xenophobic attacks against foreigners on February 22 and
23.
Since 1994, South Africa has been a cesspool of sporadic
xenophobic attacks against foreigners with Zimbabweans,
Somalis, Mozambicans, Ethiopians, Kenyans, Angolans and
Nigerians among others, being the victims.
In the case of Nigerians, the matter has been worsened by
recurring police brutality and extra-judicial killings, which in
2014 led Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs to describe the
South African police brutality on a Nigerian, which was
caught on camera as “horror and particularly disturbing.”
Tochukwu Nnadi, a 34-year-old Nigerian businessman, was
killed by South African police on December 29, 2016.
How it began
In December 1994 and January 1995, armed youth gangs in
Alexandra Township outside of Johannesburg, Gauteng
Province, destroyed the homes and property of migrants
and marched the individuals down to the local police
station where they demanded that the foreigners be forcibly
and immediately removed.
This was to be followed by a series of more violent attacks
across the country in 1998, 2000, 2008, 2009, 2013, 2015
and 2016.
In August 2000, seven xenophobic killings were reported in
the Cape Flats district of Cape Town. Seven foreigners from
different African countries were killed on the Cape Flats.
Among those attacked were two Nigerians, one Kenyan
and two Angolans.
On May 11, 2008, an outburst of xenophobic violence in the
Johannesburg township of Alexandra triggered more
xenophobic violence in other townships. First, it only spread
in the Gauteng Province. After two weeks, the violence
jumped to other urban areas across the country, mainly
Durban, Cape Town and Limpopo Province.
In January 2015, Somali shop owner shot and killed a 14-
year-old boy, Siphiwe Mahori, during an alleged robbery in
Soweto Township. The boy was shot in the neck and died
within 15 minutes. Lebogang Ncamla, 23, was another
victim when he was shot three times in the arm. The
incident triggered waves of attacks and looting of foreign-
owned shops.
On March 5, 2015, xenophobic attacks occurred in Limpopo
Province. Foreigners on the outskirts of Polokwane left their
shops after protesting villagers threatened to burn them
alive and then looted shops. Violence erupted in the Ga-
Sekgopo area after a foreign shop owner was found in
possession of a mobile phone belonging to a local man who
was killed.
On April 8, 2015, a spate of xenophobic violence occurred
after Zulu King, Goodwill Zwelithini made comments that
foreigners should go back to their home countries because
they were changing the nature of the South African society
with their goods and enjoying wealth that should have been
for local people.
Senate Committee Chairman on
Diaspora, Senator Rose Oko, who expressed dissatisfaction
over continuous killings of Nigerians in South Africa, said
she has written a letter to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to
furnish the committee with what really transpired.
“We have written to Ministry of foreign Affairs to avail us
with what happened in South Africa between the Police and
the man. We condemned, in very strong terms, these
attacks on Nigerians in South Africa.
“You are aware that in 2016 alone, about 20 Nigerians were
killed in extra-judicial manner. Before this time, several had
been killed in like manner. There are several incidences of
xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in South Africa. You are
also aware that Nigeria/ South Africa have excellent
diplomatic ties . In 2013, when there were xenophobic
attacks, former President Goodluck Jonathan signed
Memorandum of Understanding to re-enforce diplomatic
ties,” she said.

Comedian Seyi Law has blasted Portharcourt Based Pastor, Mike Winning for placing a curse on sponsors of Big Brother Naija.

Pastor Mike Winning on Monday, said through a Facebook post, 'I curse with anger anyone busy sponsoring big brother Nigeria, that if they attempt to sponsor it next year, their resources will dry up'

Seyi Law has reacted over the post through his Instagram page.

He wrote;

What a joke of a Pastor. Did Jesus lay curses on those who turned His Father's house to a market place of all sorts or He just rebuked them. Some of all these people who call themselves Pastors actually think they are God o. Oga Ade, go and have a rethink abeg and ask God for forgiveness. I am not in support of the immoral acts in Big Brother Naija, but as a Christian when the devil brings darkness, you shine your light. If you don't like what they protray, change your channel.

Pastor, please organise your own Big Christ House and give money that will change the followers of Christ's lives and see if men and your father in heaven won't praise you.

T.B Joshua Makes Revealing Prophecies on Buhari's Health

The general overseer of The Synagogue Church Of All Nations (SCOAN) Prophet T.B. Joshua in a new prophecies to his congregation called for prayer for President Muhammadu Buhari’s health.

Prophet Joshua on Sunday proclaimed : “I have some burning issues which I want to share with you,” Joshua began before breaking his silence on the tensions currently engulfing Nigeria in the wake of Buhari’s prolonged absence on medical leave in the United Kingdom.

“Your president has good intentions. Good intentions cannot be carried out alone without good followers”.
“The priority of every Nigerian citizen now is the good health of your President because it can be anyone’s turn tomorrow. What you wish for others, God makes happen to you.”

“More importantly, we also have to rise up and pray that the Lord should give us the grace to sustain democracy. Pray for an uninterrupted democracy,” he said, much to the surprise of the congregation.
Calling on congregants to rise up in prayer for President Muhammadu Buhari, he prayed specifically for “strength where there is weakness.”

On foreign exchange crisis, the Prophet said the Naira would reach a ratio of 650 to one US Dollar on the black market before it stabilises “if the system agrees with Divine will.”

Joshua said these issues would continue to plague the country till June 2017.

After my Post which was widely read and circulated about peace returning to Southern Kaduna since Osibanjo took over.
The Fulani supporters of APC in a strategy to divert attention to who are actually the sponsors stroke again last nite attacking Bakin Kogi and 2 other villages in Attakar Kaura LGA. Many lives are lost some people missing and properties destroyed. You can see some of the houses still on fire this morning.
What is the need for Soldiers in Southern Kaduna when under their nose attacks are going on. Are the soldiers brought to protect the Fulani murderers, i remember the COAS said the soldiers should Comb the bushes and retrieve arms from the Fulanis have they done that ? I just called the Military commander in Kafanchan to ask him this question, he is not picking my calls and he has not called back.
And to my people in Southern Kaduna is the call for self defence falling on deaf ears? It's very Obvious some Cocain high guys in authority can never protect you don't put your hope on them.
And Osibanjo you need to do the needful before they use southern Kaduna to rubbish your achievement so far'.
