Earlier on today, I told you all about Abubakar Shekau, Boko Haram's leader, declaring an Islamic caliphate in Gwoza town, a town seized by the extremist militants earlier this month. Abubakar had released a video today, obtained by AFP, in which he made the declaration. Turns out that Abubakar made the declaration alongside a footage of prisoners being shot while on the floor. The prisoners were told to lie in a ditch before assault rifles were aimed at their heads.
Abubakar had declared that Gwoza, in Borno State, now has 'nothing to do with Nigeria' and said 'by the grace of Allah' they will not be leaving the town. A claim DHQ has dismissed as empty. See photos from the video after the cut
During the 52-minute video, the camera pans to a heavy duty machine gun installed on the back of a truck |
A rebel is also shown riding around on the back of the vehicle as it travels through fields outside Gwoza - a month after it was captured by members of Boko Haram |
