See Reactions Of Americans to the rainbow White House makeover after gay marriage ruling

The White captioned it: America should be very proud. #LoveWins. In honor of the U.S. Supreme Court’s landmark decision on Friday, the White House showed off its gay pride as night fell on the nation’s capitol.

The building, well known for its white stucco exterior, was lit up to match the colors of the rainbow flag symbolizing the movement.

In a statement, the White House said:

“Tonight, the White House was lit to demonstrate our unwavering commitment to progress and equality, here in America and around the world. The pride colors reflect the diversity of the LGBT community, and tonight, these colors celebrate a new chapter in the history of American civil rights.”
