The Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has refused to participate in the proposed meeting with South East governors and Ohaneze Ndigbo, over the continued detention of the director of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.
A faction of MASSOB insists that it will not attend the meeting scheduled to take place in Owerri, Imo State, until Kanu is released.
Director of information of the faction, Uchenna Madu, released a statement, conveying the group’s position.
The faction said the meeting would only succeed if all the other groups agitating for the actualization of Republic of Biafra, are invited to participate.
“We support the meeting of the South East governors and Ohaneze Ndigbo, with pro-Biafra groups to douse the tension, but we believe that such a meeting cannot take place while Nnamdi Kanu is still in detention.
“The continued detention of Kanu, non compliance with Biafra demands will continue to haunt, frustrate and diminish Nigeria’s image before the international community.”
