Veteran American comedian, Bill Cosby has officially been taken into custody after being charged on December 30 with the s*xual assault of a former Temple University student, Andrea Constand in his private home in 2004.
According to reports a warrant was issued for his arrest on Wednesday, but the 78-year-old turned himself in for booking at 2:50om ET that same day.
Fox News reports that just moments after his arraignment, Bill Cosby arrived at the Cheltenham Township Police Department where he was booked — fingerprints and mugshot — as an inmate.
Cosby paid 10% of his $1 million bail in cash, which comes to $100,000; he was also forced to hand over his passport.
“Upon examination of all of the evidence, today we are able to seek justice on behalf of Mr. Cosby’s victim,” incoming District Attorney Kevin Steele said in a live press conference after the arraignment.
Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman is the one who formally charged Bill with not one, but three counts of aggravated indecent assault, reports NBC Philadelphia.
The felony charges include that Bill allegedly assaulted his victim while she was unconscious.
The report claims that during a deposition for the case, Bill confessed to fondling Andrea and taking her “silence” as a green light to continue.
