Female Young Money/Cash Money rapper, Nicki Minaj has been advised by the Human Rights Foundation to cancel her scheduled appearance in Angola.
In a letter sent to Nicki Minaj by Thor Halvorssen, the head of the human rights organization, Nicki Minaj is told to not show up in Angola because of the country’s human rights violations history.
Angola has been ruled to by President Jose Eduardo dos Santos and has a long history of human rights violations of journalists and people deemed as the opposition.
In the letter sent to Nicki Minaj, it is mentioned that Angolan hip-hop artist Luaty Beirao was arrested in June.
“Ms. Minaj, you are well known for being involved with charities such as the Get Schooled Foundation, which helps motivate young people to graduate from high school and succeed in college,” Halvorssen writes in his letter. “If you move forward with this performance for the dictator and his family, you will be in league with the people stealing educational resources and opportunity from young Angolans” the letter further read.
Thor Halvorssen is known for dropping copies of the movie ‘The Interview‘ all over North Korea.
