Sen. Abdullahi Adamu, representing Nasarawa West, yesterday, declared that the federal government has all that it needs to contain the activities of Niger-Delta terrorists but has chosen the path of dialogue in the interest of innocent Nigerians.
Adamu stated this in Keffi while answering questions from newsmen at the opening of the 7th Ramadan Symposium organised by the Muslim community of the Nasarawa State University, Keffi.
He explained that the avengers are ignorant of the collective history of the Nigerian state, reminding them that the funds used for exploration of oil and gas before 1958 were realised from agriculture and solid minerals found in the North.
The senator who described attacks on oil facilities by Niger-Delta avengers as unfortunate act aimed at destabilising the economy of the country, urged them to have a rethink in the interest of peace and national development.
“Nigerian economy was not hinged on a mono-product revenue, oil, which only started in 1958. Was there no Nigeria before 1958? Were our people not feeding themselves before 1958 and what money did we use to start exploring oil in Nigeria?” he queried.
“The whole thing is hate mind fixation, the people who are doing this have said it before now that if Jonathan did not win election because he is their own, they will destabilise the government, they said it and it was published in papers and a lot of media carried it”.
