Mavin Records artiste, Tiwa Savage, has
been quizzed by the police for allegedly humiliating a policeman who
apprehended her for violating some
provisions of the Lagos state traffic laws.
Savage often referred to as Mavin First
Lady, was said to have engaged a
policeman who flagged her down for
flouting traffic rules in front of Eko Hotels
and Suites Victoria Island, on Saturday.
Savage who was recently signed a brand
ambassador deal with Forte, allegedly
came down from the vehicle she was
riding in and confronted the policeman on
duty who arrested her.
During the ensuing argument with the
cop, Savage who was infuriated by the
development was said to have angrily
removed the cap of the policeman in a
bid to get back at him.
The first African female PEPSI
ambassador was reportedly whisked away
to the Victoria Island Police Division, for
daring to humiliate and assault the
policeman.
When contacted, Group publicist for
Mavin Records, Terfa Tilley-Gyado,
confirmed the incident to our
correspondent on the telephone.
He said the records label will be issuing a
comprehensive statement stating the
position of Tiwa Savage and the group on
Monday.
“What would you like to know? We are
planning to prepare an official statement;
definitely not at this time. The press
release will be out on Monday for your
Tuesday production.
“I don’t think it will be prudent to use the
story until you have the official statement.
That is just my own opinion. I think you
should wait until you get the official
statement,” he said.

Google.
1. Use of Quotation Marks and Key Phrases
When looking for something on Google,
envelope the key word with quotation marks to
instruct the search engine to bring all about
what you searching for. For example if you type
in"Reebok", search engine would bring all about
Reebok and nothing else.
2. Time Range Search
If you want to know about the NFL between
2011 to 2014 for example your search would
look like this NFL 2011...2014. This would
instruct the search engine to bring up all about
the NFL between 2011 and 2014.
3. Document Type Search
If you are looking for a particular file type say a
PDF file for example you can instruct Google to
look for PDF files on Technology by typing in
"Filetype: PDF Technology". For word file replace
PDF with docx, for PowerPoint files put in ppt,
for excel type in xls.
4. Inclusive Search
If you want search engine to bring up two terms
in the search, like Apple and Mac for example,
just type Apple OR Mac.
5. Searching for Word Definition
You don't need to type a word on Google and
start looking for dictionary definition on
dictionary sites. To get a definition on Google
just type "define: word" and the definition would
pop up on top page.

A church in the US state of Virginia has taken the bizarre decision to allow its congregation to attend services in the Unclad. Pastor Allen Parker, the leader of White Tail Chapel in the town of Southampton, said he came to the decision to allow Unclad worship after concluding the clothing requirements of other churches were overly ‘pretentious’, and decided his own flock should be free to forgo such materialism if they desire.

Residents of Aba have condemned Monday invasion of the police area command by soldiers lamenting that those who ought to unite and tackle the spate of kidnapping and other crimes in the state were involved in a show of shame.

Hell was let loose in Aba, Abia State when soldiers invaded the area command of the  police in a Gestapo style and wounded two police officers.

The rampaging soldiers said to be over 50, stormed the police command in an Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) and over five Hilux vans, and did not spear civilians within the neighbourhood of the area command headquarters. They were said to have cordoned off the area and forced businesses to close as people around scampered for safety.

In the ensuing fracas, the glass door of a patent medicine shop directly opposite the area command main entrance was shattered as soldiers allegedly stormed the shop to prevent one of the police officers wounded during the fracas from receiving first aid treatment.

Daily Sun gathered that trouble started at about 6.15pm on that day, when a police officer attached to the area command went to purchase some drugs with his pregnant wife, also a serving police officer and parked his car in front of the drugs store but a man who was later identified as an army captain ordered the police officer to remove his vehicle from where it was parked.

The cop was reported to have explained to the soldier that he was a police officer and that he would move as soon as he buys the drugs but the soldier refused and during an argument, the army captain allegedly slapped the policeman and he retaliated.

Other soldiers, who were inside the army van, came down with their guns and threatened to kill the policeman, but for the wife who insisted they should kill her first.

Although passersby, who had gathered to watch the ugly episode, later made peace between the two men, soldiers, who were said to have been alerted by the captain, stormed the police area command.

The National President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Dr. Nasir Fagge has said, they are yet to receive allocations which were agreed upon last year by the union and the Federal Government. According to him, the Minister for Education, Nyesom Wike, was made the head of the implementation committee who is meant to meet with them regularly for discussions, but has never been available due to his busy schedules. We have also asked that another person who is less busy be made available to us, but the government is yet to do that, he said.

                                                                                                                                                               

 “The minister has been busy all this while and now he has travelled again. We had requested that someone who is less busy be given to us so that we can have regular meetings but it has not been the case. We hope that when the minister returns from his latest trip, our 2013 allocation out of the N200 billion for the revitalisation of our universities will be disbursed. Part of our agreement also was the fact that our annual allocation of N220 billion will be made available on a quarterly basis. So, we expect that part of the amount for the first quarter will be disbursed as well when we finally meet”, he said.

Smoking and enjoying good health don’t go together. But despite this fact, experts say the number of smokers has continued to swell, with young adolescents taking to the dangerous habit with gusto.

“They see it as a rite of passage; while many see it as a way to be ‘cool.’ Yet, cigarette use is anything but cool, what with the toll it takes on health, with different consequences among the sexes,” says General Practitioner, Dr. Friday Odiase.The girl and the stick

How does smoking affect the female body, you may ask? According to the online portal, girlshealth.gov, every part of a woman’s body pays the price for the unhealthy habit of smoking.

While smoking affects the health of any smoker, researchers warn that women stand greater risks in certain respects because of their biological make-up. The risks are numerous, experts say, and they include:

Stroke
A new research published in the American Heart Association journal, Stroke, reveals that women smokers may be at greater risk for a more deadly and uncommon type of stroke.

Researchers compared data from more than 80 international studies that were published between 1966 and 2013, and found that smoking is linked to more than a 50 per cent greater risk of ischemic stroke the most common stroke — one that’s caused by a blood clot — in both men and women. However, for the more deadly type of stroke — one that is caused by a brain bleed, known as a hemorrhagic stroke — smoking resulted in a 17 per cent greater risk in women than in men.

The authors, Drs. Sanne Peters and Mark Woodward, suggest that the greater risk for bleeding stroke among women might be due to hormones and how nicotine impacts blood fats. “It seems that fats, cholesterol and triglycerides increase to a greater extent in women who smoke, compared with men who smoke, increasing their risk for coronary heart disease to a greater extent than in male smokers,” they enthuse.


Brain
The brain of any animal is the seat of intelligence, and it is one organ of the body that determines whether or not you stay alive. For instance, once the doctor declares an individual as brain dead, keeping him on life support becomes meaningless and all medical support is withdrawn at that point. Physicians say when you smoke, you toy with your brain’s health. This is because nicotine goes to your brain very fast. Though nicotine makes the smoker feel good when she is smoking, it can also make her anxious, nervous, moody, and depressed afterwards.
The worst part is that these symptoms might be indicative of other underlying health conditions, which may be hidden because you are already engaged in unhealthy behaviour.


Mouth
The teeth are sometimes described as “pearly whites,” indicative of how a healthy set of teeth should look. But then, tobacco stains your teeth, giving them brownish colour that is definitely unattractive. To boot, it also gives you bad breath!
A health gum hovers between healthy pink and attractive red. However, smoking changes all that, besides causing bleeding gums and cancers of the mouth and throat, endocrinologists warn.


Heart
Cardiologists say a normal heart pumps approximately 4.7-5.7 litres of blood per minute throughout the blood vessels to various parts of the body by repeated, rhythmic contractions. Smoking impairs this function and rather increases your heart rate and blood pressure and causes heart disease and heart attacks. Worse still, if you try to do activities like exercise or play sports, your heart has to work harder to keep up. By the way, do you know of any athlete who is a smoker? Not any in the global arena where a perfectly healthy body is the least expected of any athlete!


Lungs
Anatomically, physicians say, the lungs are one of the hardest-working organs in the body. They expand and contract up to 20 times a minute to supply oxygen to be distributed to the tissues all over the body and expel carbon dioxide that has been created throughout the body. That is talking about the normal, healthy lungs, which a smoker definitely lacks.

Physicians warn that smokers have trouble breathing because smoking damages the lungs, causing more frequent and more serious attacks among the asthmatics; while it also causes a lot of coughing with mucus.

“The brown tar that tobacco leaves in the lungs can cause emphysema (lung disease) and lung cancer,” physicians warn.

Smoking and fertility
According to the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, cigarette smoking is harmful to a woman’s ovaries, and the degree of harm is dependent upon the amount and the period of time a woman smokes.

It says, “Smoking appears to accelerate the loss of eggs and reproductive function and may advance the time of menopause by several years. Components in cigarette smoke have been shown to interfere with the ability of cells in the ovary to make oestrogen and to cause a woman’s eggs to be more prone to genetic abnormalities.”

A Professor of Reproductive Endocrinology, Oladapo Ashiru, adds, “Smoking is strongly associated with an increased risk of spontaneous miscarriage and possibly ectopic pregnancy as well. Pregnant smokers are more likely to have low birth weight babies and premature birth. “The incidence of sudden infant death syndrome also increases in households where someone smokes.”

Okay, so I got this from a reader this morning, “ehen small aproko …Emmy, I saw pics of Mercy Johnson looking tacky on other blogs and they tagged her sexy. Mercy Johnson looks so cheap here that if cheap were to be animated today, it would most definitely not want to be associated with Mercy Jonnson. Yes, she seemed so hideously dressed in that hideous dress (haha, playing with words, na me biko). I don`t even know where to start or end, the N3k tejusho dress, akpola shoes, the “mgbekerish” pose, the walls behind her(background), foot mat, et al, yet some blogger deemed it appropriate to tag this picture right here “sexy”. Kai, sexy don suffer ni. Abasi mbo, Chineke no n’eluigwe, Oluwa! What did we do to deserve this? Okay, I know what we did. We became too hypocritical. I can imagine cheap (I mean animated version) blurting out words like – “abeg, abeg, I know say I cheap, but no be like that nah,kai! No put me near that cheap looking woman, biko” – when compared to Mercy Johnson in this ensembles of hers. On a very positive note, we should all be thankful to the almighty God/Allah that she didn`t venture putting on those sunnies in her hands, because if she did, kai, egbe for gas, lol.

More often than not, I wonder if these sort of classless half-baked celebrities that we are bedevilled with aren`t God`s idea of punishment for all the iniquities we commit against him daily. We have “afọ anu” celebrities that are ineffective in all spheres of life, be it politics, fashion, etc. Tell me a Naija celebrity that has influenced any fashion trend? Perhaps just about 2% of them have pet projects, except when they surround themselves with cameramen while visiting motherless babies homes. In another clime, these are supposedly the innovative bunch, but it’s sad that the last word a well meaning and well-informed individual would use to describe any Nigerian actress or actor today is “innovative”. How did we get here? It has become a nonsensical game of ‘please find out where Genevieve or Omotola has visited, me too I wan go there nah and make sure all the blogs will post the pictures’.”

LOL, this is one of the weirdest things I've heard in a long time. So hip hop artiste Dude Tetsola is denying being married weeks after it was reported that he married his longtime Dublin-based fiancee Stephanie Ogbeiwi. Their traditional wedding took place on November 9th in Benin while their court wedding took place at the Federal Marriage Registry, Ikoyi, Lagos on the 30th of November.

Two months later, Dude is denying being married. According to what he told Punch, the marriage was by proxy as he only represented his brother who couldn’t attend his wedding.

“I stood in for my elder brother. He couldn’t get his visa. They saw the pictures and people started saying I got married. Please, it is not me. I am not yet married. My girlfriend left me. She still doesn’t believe the story that I am not married even after my mother called her to explain to her. I have even talked to her elder brother who said I should let her be.
