I Have Not And Will Never Forgive Ruggedman – 9ice Vows

By     No comments:
9ice

Gongo Aso crooner 9ice has now clearly stated it that he has not forgiven Ruggedman neither is he willing to forgive him.
The two former collaborators clashed in 2010 after 9ice recorded a song on his third album titled ‘Once Bitten’; the song was a story about how 9ice caught his lover having an affair.
Many people at that time thought the song was referring to his then wife Toni Payne and Ruggedman having an affair, both parties have denied this rumor several times in the past.
In a recent interview with ‘Entertainment Splash’ on TVC, 9ice said he is still not on good terms with Ruggedman, and that the rapper has not apologized.
9ice however stated that Ruggedman never slept with Toni Payne.
“Ruggedman did not sleep with Toni Payne, he dare not do that” he said, and added “Iyawo ole ni won ma ngba” which means “it is only a lazy man’s wife that can be taken away.”
9ice said he hasn’t forgiven Ruggedman for interfering in another man’s matter.

Mrs Buhari appeals to Borno, Adamawa, Yobe governors to assist sick children in IDP camps

By     No comments:

The Wife of the President, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, has appealed to the Governors of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe States, to urgently do something about the nutritional status of babies and children in the IDP camps in their various states. She is grieved as a mother that children could be going through such appalling conditions in her country.

Mrs Buhari realizes that malnutrition rates for children are at a serious level in these camps, where large number of people displaced by the Boko Haram insurgency are gathered. It is important to note that even under normal circumstances children have specialized nutritional needs. This in effect underscores the importance of highly specialized nutritional support for this category of children.

Mrs Buhari further commended Akinwunmi Ambode, Governor of Lagos State for donating N150 million to the Governments of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe to assist them in the rehabilitation of internally displaced persons (IDPs)

IPOB petitions Amnesty Int’l over Radio Biafra director’s arrest, detention

By     No comments:

The Indigenous People of Biafra has dispatched petition to Amnesty International over the arrest and detention of Radio Biafra director, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
This is coming at a time when Imo State Governor and Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) Governors’ Forum, Rochas Okorocha said Nigeria’s unity is not negotiable.
It was gathered that IPOB submitted the petition at the India office of Amnesty International.
Meanwhile, Okorocha, while condemning protest over Kanu’s arrest maintained that the unity of the Nigeria is not negotiable, stressed that the agitation for Biafra was diversionary.
Okorocha said the protests were highly regrettable “especially when it was clear that such violent protests in the name of Biafra would not add any value to the development of the South-East and the progress of the people of the area.
“Governors and leaders of the South-East condemn the protests, especially when they were carried out in the name of Biafra. If a section of the people in the South-East or even the whole people in the geo-political zone protest over the bad shape of federal roads or protest over total negligence of the geo-political zone, every governor and leader in the area would support that but not to protest over an issue that is neither here nor there.
“The South-East is an integral part of Nigeria and the governors and leaders from the area so much believe in the unity of the country and would always work towards sustaining that unity. As far as the governors and leaders of the South-East are concerned, those behind the campaign for Biafra have their ulterior motive, which has nothing to do with corporate interest of Ndi-Igbo in Nigeria of our collective dream,” Okorocha said.
Okorocha, called on those behind the protests on the basis of Biafra to give peace a chance.

AIT denies report of maltreating the presidency during the campaign period

By     No comments:

DAAR communication, owners of African Independent Televison AIT have denied claims by presidential spokesperson, Shehu Garba, that they denied President Buhari and the APC access to use their media platform during the campaign periods. Garba at a media summit in Lagos last week, alleged that media stations, AIT and NTA, maltreated the President Buhari and the APC during the campaign periods(read here).
In a statement released yesterday October 21st, the TV station said as a responsible media organization, it made its media platform open for all political actors irrespective of their political parties. The statement asked the presidential spokesperson to name AIT staffs that refused them to pay for their political ad campaigns. The statement in part reads
On the allegation of maltreatment through the rejection and denial of political campaign space on our station, we wish to state categorically and emphatically that at no time did we reject or deny the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) broadcast space on our station –AIT,’’ the management of Daar Communications said in a statement in Abuja.
We subscribe to the laws of the land as enshrined in the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended, and other Acts of the National Assembly.
We are guided by the tenets of media practice which are professionalism, fairness, objectivity and balance irrespective of political affiliation.
At the beginning of the electioneering process meant to herald the 2015 elections and as has been our practice since 1999 we opened our stations to all the contesting political parties and their respective candidates on all our broadcast platforms; RayPower FM, Faaji FM and AIT.
“In accordance with the ethics of our business; media bookings, the terms of the contract, the discount offered amongst others are usually contractual obligations which are sacrosanct and exclusive only to the parties involved but if and when the need arises, we are willing and ready to tender all the contract documents to the public for their information and knowledge.
We feel pained, disappointed and betrayed by the allegation of maltreatment of the APC’s Presidential Campaigns by Mallam Garba Shehu, who at various times requested for unusual discounts and concessions, at short notices, which we often obliged in our spirited efforts of ensuring that we engaged all political parties, most especially the APC in our broadcasts so that we would be fair to all parties.
We have extended our patriotic hands of fellowship to all the political actors and indeed everyone to pull together for the sake of our dearly beloved nation - Nigeria. This, is the global best practice, after elections and the attendant politics, national interest takes the centre-stage" the statement read.

18 as Minimum Age for Marriage is Not the Answer – Emir of Kano Sanusi

By     No comments:
Muhammadu-Sanusi-II
Having weathered the storm over his controversial marriage to an 18 year old princess, Emir of Kano – Muhammadu Sanusi II was a headline speaker at a “Strategies to Improve the Protection of Girl Child in Nigeria” conference in Abuja this week. The key areas the conference focused on included early marriage, violence against girls and kidnapping.During his speech, Sanusi suggested that the answers to the issues such as early marriage may not be as easy as simply setting 18 as the minimum age for marriage.

According to Channels TV,

The monarch, who was also against setting 18 years as minimum age for marriage, said the first step to addressing the issue was to address the root causes of poverty in the communities.

“If you tell a man in the village, ‘don’t marry your child off till the age of 18’, what does she do between the age of 11 and 18?

18 Year Old HRH Emirette of Kano Sa'adatu Barkindo Sanusi

Instead he criticised the current Federal Government’s Revenue Sharing Formula

“We need to understand that the problem begins from the economy and from the management of the resources of the country. He condemned a system where the states get the residual of the nation’s revenue after the Federal Government had taken a large portion of it.

“These are the states that are supposed to provide education and healthcare to hundreds of millions of people. The states are staved of funds,” the Emir said.

The Nigerian Constitution does not establish a minimum age of marriage. The Child Rights Act, which was passed in 2003, sets the age of marriage at 18 years-old. According to the Child Not Bride organization, only 23 of Nigeria’s 36 states have adopted this act. As a result, in some areas of the country the minimum age of marriage can be as low as 12 years-old.
