No Ebola outbreak in Nigeria - FG denies report

By     No comments:

The Federal Government has denied the outbreak of the Ebola Virus Disease in Calabar, Cross River State.

This came just as authorities of the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital on Friday dispelled the rumour of the existence of the deadly disease in the institution.

The development came just as the result of sample from the dead victim whose ailment was likened to that of the EVD was still being awaited.

Eyamba was a 200 level student of the Department of Political Science, University of Calabar, was identifyied as a victim of this disease.
The hospital authority had on Thursday said the deceased was suspected to have died of haemorrhagic fever and not EVD.

It was, however, learnt on Friday that Eyamba’s sister, whose name could not be ascertained, was also said to have contracted the same ailment and had since recuperated in their family’s residence in the Calabar-South area of the state capital.

Speaking during a sensitisation workshop for workers of UCTH and other health agencies in the state, the Chairman of Medical Advisory Committee of the institution, Dr. Queeneth Kalu, said the information on the EVD existence in the hospital was false.

She said, however, that a temporary out-patient accident and emergency ward had been opened in the community medicine unit of the hospital to cater for emergency cases.

Kalu said, “The wrong information had been in the air for the past few days and it is not good for us. We have had to organise this sensitisation workshop for an update and also to acknowledge all those who had taken positive steps to allay fears.

“As we speak, a temporary accident and emergency unit has been opened as a temporary measure to attend to out-patients. The information being peddled is false and it is spread by those who do not have any genuine information.”

But there was no explanation as to why the accident and emergency ward of the hospital was still locked. No reference was also made to the 15 health workers and patients that were quarantined on Tuesday.

However, a medical doctor, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed that the result of the sample taken from Eyamba was not out.

He also said the parents of the family of the deceased were worried about the way the death of their son had created panic.

The source said, “The parents of the deceased are worried that the sad news of their son’s death has created negative publicity for the hospital when his sister, who had the same symptom, had recovered in the house. The family is even begging the hospital authorities to release the body for burial.

“The truth is that the result has yet to be released and even if it is released, after the investigation in Nigeria, it will still be taken out of the country for further investigation. It is definitely haemorrhagic fever and not EVD as being peddled.”

Although tests conducted on the patient did not show positive signs of both Lasser Fever and Ebola, the Federal Government had decided to ascertain what could actually have been responsible for the death of the patient.

The Federal Government commended the field epidemiologists and port-health officials at UNICAL for their management of the situation.

The Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Health, Mr. Linus Awute, who made the clarification at a press briefing on Friday in Abuja, said the successful containment of EVD in Nigeria in October, 2014 had since then generated the optimism to build a more resilient health system.

Though he said there was no Ebola outbreak in the country, he added that the medical personnel who handled the patient “will still remain under observation and surveillance.”

He said, “Tests on the blood sample were run throughout the night and as of 8am (on Friday), results confirmed that the deceased tested negative for both the Ebola Virus and Lassa Fever Virus. Additional tests using next generation sequencing methods are currently being carried out at the Redeemers University African Centre of Excellence for Genomics of Infectious Diseases in Ede, Osun State, to confirm which virus must have caused the infection and death. The result of these tests is expected on Monday, October 12, 2015.

“The Federal Ministry of Health hereby confirms that there is no Ebola Virus Disease in Nigeria, and thus Nigeria remains Ebola-free.”

Awute, however, advised members of the public to continue to observe good hygienic behaviour that includes hand washing, hand sanitisation and general environmental cleanliness.

According to him, through such optimism from the containment of Ebola last year, aided by deep patriotic devotion, the government had prevented the recurrence of Ebola in the country.

He said, “We have followed the recent rumours of Ebola to find that it is the case of a 21 year-old-male student of UNICAL who was brought into the casualty ward of the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital by the mother and other family members on October 7, 2015, at about 1am has been investigated clinically and laboratory tests carried out.

“The patient was admitted with bleeding, diarrhoea, vomiting, skin rashes and mouth lesions. His temperature on admission was 37 degrees centigrade and his vital signs were stable. The parents said that the patient had never travelled outside Calabar. On the basis of the signs and symptoms, a tentative diagnosis of viral hemorrhagic fever, to rule out Lassa fever was made.

“Some of his family members, especially the brother and sister had a history of chicken pox in the last one week, prior to his falling ill. The patient was treated with antipyretics and antibiotics during the course of illness and received intravenous fluids. Sadly, at exactly 8:15am, seven hours post-admission, the patient passed on.

“The death created panic among the medical team that attended to him; 15 health workers and eight patients who had direct or indirect contact with the deceased were quarantined. Other hospital workers were provided with thermometers to monitor their temperature twice daily.”

The permanent secretary also said that the blood sample collected from the patient was taken to Irrua Lassa Fever Specialist Hospital Laboratory in Edo State for confirmation of haemorrhagic fever disease that included Ebola Virus, Lassa fever, Dengue Fever and other viruses.

President Obama gives Kanye West advise,Read Kanye West responds

By     No comments:

So we all heard about Kanye West's intention to run for President in 2020, well President Obama also heard about it. While speaking at a Democratic National Committee fundraiser in San Francisco, yesterday, Obama discussed Kanye's recently announced political ambitions by giving Peezy (The nickname he gave Kanye West) some solid advise.
He said:
"You may have heard about this, Kanye is thinking about running … for Speaker of the House.
"But in case Kanye is serious about this whole POTUS (President of the United States) thing, or as he calls it Peezy, I do have advice for him."
He said: "First of all, you've got to spend a lot of time dealing with some strange characters who behave like they're on a reality TV show. "So you've got to be cool with that."
Obama had clearly done his homework on Kanye as he referenced the rapper's fifth studio album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, for his next tip.
He added: "This is the second tip, saying that you have a beautiful, dark, twisted fantasy. That's what's known as 'off message' in politics, you can't something like that."
'And number three: do you really think that this country is gonna elect a black guy from the south side of Chicago with a funny name to be president of the United States? That is crazy. That's cray.'

Kanye West who was scheduled to meet the President the same day responded by gifting the President 2 pairs of Yeezy sneakers which Kim K shared on her IG page.

He signed it #44 and #46 2020 meaning "To the 44th president (Obama) from the 46th President (Kanye West). The man means business, lol.

By     No comments:
blac-chyna-future-dating

The pair were spotted getting cozy at his after-party in Washington DC earlier this month and eye witnesses claim it looks more than just a friendly hangout.
According to TMZ, both celebrities were practically inseparable the entire night at Future’s raucous after-party and reportedly stayed at the joint for an hour before leaving together at 4:00am.
This sighting comes just one day after Blac Chyna was seen on the set of Future’s new music video for ‘Stick Talk,’ reports AllHipHop.
Apparently, Blac and Future left the set of ‘Stick Talk’ together too.
This pairing could definitely be healthy for both Blac and Future, and a serious relief for their exes considering that Blac has waged a war against Tyga and his girlfriend Kylie Jenner, 18, ever since they got together. Future has also attacked his ex, Ciara and her boyfriend, Russell Wilson

Terry G – '' I’ll Become An Evangelist Soon,Am Doing Secular Music Temporarily''

By     No comments:

Terry G has reportedly stated that he has been prophesied that he will enter the full time ministry of evangelizing to people soon.
“By God’s grace; it has been prophesied that God is going to use me to prophesy to multitudes, and I think I’m already doing that in a way, but when God calls me at the right time, I will go for it fully” said Terry G who was a former chorister at the Redeemed Church of God.
He later explained why he is doing secular music despite being close to God. “Sometimes, you need to put yourself in people’s shoes. When a preacher is preaching to you, and you already know all what he is going to say, it might not sound interesting.
“I think God knows why He chose a path for everybody because if you look at it, everybody has done gospel music at some point; it worked for some people, and didn’t work for some. That is because we have different purposes in life. I’m only doing this (secular music) temporarily.”

APC behind Alamieyiesagha's death, according to Izon Brotherhood

By     No comments:

A socio-cultural organisation, Izon Brotherhood in the Diaspora has accused the APC of being responsible for the death of first civilian governor of Bayelsa State, Chief Dieprieye Alamieyesiegha, who passed away in Port-Harcourt yesterday.

The Spokesman of the group, Arc. Pere Jones, in a statement sent to the media from Germany, said the recent extradition notice by the United Kingdom aggravated the health of the former governor and his subsequent death.

Alamieyesiegha's health was said to have deteriorated and rushed to a private hospital in Port-Harcourt where he slipped into comma as doctors were said to have battled to save his life until he passed on.

He berated the APC who he claimed was behind the recent extradition notice that must have aggravated the health of the former Ijaw leader who reportedly died of heart attack.

Jones condemned the alleged role of the APC  which reportedly influenced the inclusion of Alamieyesiegha's name among those wanted by the UK government even after going through the whole legal hurdles of prosecution, conviction and later pardoned.

Jones was particularly critical of the role allegedly played by some Ijaw sons whom he accused of working hand-in-hand with the APC to undermine the Ijaw nation.

He said, "Clearly, it's a shame to all our Ijaw brothers who are in league with the APC, witchhunting and working against their fellow Ijaw brothers ans sisters, being singled out for alleged corruption charges. They should be ashamed of themselves. Frankly no Ijaw man worth his salt should have anything to do with APC. With what they have done to our dear leader, Alamieyesiegha, no right thinking son or daughter of Ijaw extraction should be seen associating with the APC. His death is really unfortunate."

“Segun Arinze Should Be Thrown Into Jail” - Emeka Ike

By     No comments:
emekus

It’s been weeks now since Segun Arinze blasted Emeka Ike saying, “He should grow up. As far as I am concerned, Ibinabo Fiberesima is the bonafide president. Even in the recent judgement that came out recently telling us to return to the status quo, what does it mean? We were told to go back to the way we were. There was no time Emeka Ike was pronounced the president of AGN. Let him bring out the copy of the judgement and show us if he is man enough. He should wake up and stop embarrassing the guild.”

In a recent interview with Saturday Beats, Emeka Ike fired back, “I heard Segun Arinze was interviewed and he said so many things about me and nobody asked me for my own side. I don’t think it was a balanced report. Segun Arinze did not say anything meaningful, he was just cursing himself. That is not how to handle legal matters. In legal matters, we take things from the law’s point of view. Segun that is talking to the journalist is supposed to be behind bars because he committed a crime that should have sent him to jail. There was an order that he violated by bringing in Ibinabo as the president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria. I have been saying this since. That is why Ibinabo’s tenure was called ‘contentious.’”

“Why should we the educated people allow market people to talk? I am a very cerebral person and I don’t deal with men who cannot read and do not understand the legalities of the paper they have in their hand. I cannot be trading words with a common street boy because if you did not go to school, you cannot understand some legal issues. So, he cannot assess the judgement of the court of law.”

Boko Haram And Jonathan: The Truth Unfolds

By     1 comment:
2743648_shekaudeathisacredittojonathanadministration

We are suddenly back to those dark days when Boko Haram terrorists strike with ease and attack military formations.
That was precisely what these blood-thirsty bastards did on Tuesday when they attempted to dislodge the 120 Task Force Battalion located in Goniri, Yobe State.
Our gallant soldiers repelled the attack, killing over 100 of these terrorists. On the same day, there were multiple bomb attacks in Damaturu and two mosques in Maiduguri; 38 innocent Nigerians were killed in these attacks.
Earlier on October 2, the terrorists attacked Abuja, leaving 20 people dead and scores injured. October is just 10 days old and 83 innocent lives have been lost to Boko Haram.
In summary, about 1300 Nigerians have been killed, precisely 133 days after Jonathan was kicked out of office. We have never had it so bad.
The story back then was that Jonathan’s ineptitude was responsible for frequent Boko Haram attacks.
Some said the North did not want Jonathan as president, and that was why Boko Haram’s atrocities persisted.
For this cruel school of thought, Jonathan was the problem and must be removed. At a point, some people even said it openly that Jonathan was the one funding Boko Haram to destabilse the North and prolong his tenure.
Haba, what would he have gained with the destabilisation of a part of the country of which he was president? Even when Jonathan tried to procure equipment for the military in South Africa and it went awry, opposition politicians celebrated this.
Some even said the equipment Jonathan went for was meant to arm Boko Haram. I never knew some people could be this wicked.
Way back, when terrorists attack our soldiers and seize territories, the then opposition politicians mocked our gallant soldiers and made a show of it.
Every Boko Haram attack was used by the opposition as an opportunity to mock Jonathan and cast aspersions on our gallant soldiers.
It was used to instigate the people against the Jonathan administration. Many believed them. Now, the truth unfolds.
The then opposition party refused to join the war against these terrorists. The APC never offered any positive advice. Even Muhammadu Buhari, then opposition presidential candidate, refused to attend Council of State meetings to offer advice on how to tackle the menace.
At a point, he was stoking the insurgency. He and the opposition party played politics with the Boko Haram crisis. They saw it as a unique selling point to compel Nigerians to vote for them. Buhari even promised Nigerians that Boko Haram would become history within two months of assuming office.
The blackmail worked. INEC subsequently told us that Nigerians had voted out Jonathan. Did a majority of Nigerians vote against Jonathan? That is a story for another day.
For now, the truth about the Boko Haram nuisance is unfolding.
The monster encouraged by Buhari and the then opposition APC has grown so big. The attacks have become ferocious. Recovered territories are being taken again by these bastards. Now, we all know that Boko Haram’s menace is not about Jonathan and ineptitude in handling the situation.
We all now know that Boko Haram persisted not because the North hates Jonathan as many wicked politicians made many to believe. We all now know that it was not a deliberate attempt by Jonathan to set back the North and prolong his tenure.
The Boko Haram menace is a national problem. I had said this times without number. Patriots must join hands with whoever is in government to tackle this menace; otherwise, it will consume all of us. I am repeating the same thing today.
Every Nigerian must work with this administration and the military to make Boko Haram history, regardless of the inglorious role played by Buhari and the APC in the growth of this monster called Boko Haram. God bless Nigeria as we tackle these terrorists.

I Have No security interest in Tinubu - Presidency

By     No comments:

The presidency has denied claims that the national leader of APC, Bola Tinubu has been placed on security watch following allegations that he is working against President Buhari. A statement released this evening by Senior Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to President Buhari, Garba Shehu, says that the claims are false and unfounded. The statement reads
The attention of the Presidency has been drawn to a false and sensational story by a leading newspaper to the effect that a pillar of the governing party, the Action Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is "under security watch over alleged plot against Buhari."
Nigerians are hereby advised to ignore this story because it is false and baseless. We wish to confirm without any equivocation that the Asiwaju is not of any particular interest to any arm of the security services. The relationship between him and the President can not be better than it is at the moment. According to the perverted logic of the newspaper, the respected leader of the APC is into a plot against the leader of the country. The presidency is unaware of any such plots against the President. I got on the phone a short while ago with General Babagana Munguno, (Rtd), the National Security Adviser and the Director General of the SSS, Lawal Daura who both dismissed the published reports as acts of pure mischief. They are not aware of the Asiwaju being on any kind of watch. It would appear that a competition is on between two or three newspaper establishments on how best to breach the excellent relationship between the pillars of our party and government. So far, they have not made a headway and there is no indication that they will succeed in the future. It suffices to say that such reports, written without fairness and balance can only take away from whatever is left of the credibility of these newspapers. The general public is hereby advised to ignore them on these reports."
SIGNED: Garba Shehu SSAP (Media and Publicity) State House, Abuja.
