Boko Haram attacks a community near Chibok, 17 dead...(DETAILS)

By     No comments:

In a fresh attack, Islamist group Boko Haram have
been accused of killing 17 people in an attack on a
village in Borno State, North-East Nigeria, close to
where hundreds of schoolgirls were seized.
This comes a day after 118 people died in the Jos
twin bomb blasts.
In the latest attack, BBC reports that Boko Haram
fighters reportedly spent hours killing and looting in
the village of Alagarno. Alagarno is near Chibok,
from where the schoolgirls were abducted last
month. People in north-east Nigeria are extremely
vulnerable to attacks because many areas are no go
zones for the military and the insurgents operate
freely, the BBC's Will Ross reports from the country.
Witnesses in Alagarno said the suspected Boko
Haram fighters arrived close to midnight, and killed
and looted for hours before leaving in stolen
vehicles. One survivor told the BBC that every single
building in the village had been torched.

Graphic Photos from yesterday's Twin Bomb blast in Jos

By     No comments:

Contrary to earlier report, the bomb blast that hit
Jos, Plateau was a twin bomb that took off almost
the same time. The two separate bomb blasts were a
few meters and minutes apart and rocked the Jos
main town at Railway Terminal area and Terminus
Roundabout respectively.
Over 200 people, according to new updates, were
killed in the tragic Jos bomb blasts that occurred
today, up from the official 72 dead released earlier
by government sources.
The bomb blasts had occurred after two vans
exploded at the market. First vehicle to explode was
a Peugeot J5 van, with the registration number XG
148 BLD, then the second blast was carried out with
a Toyota van, with a Gombe state license plate
number. Eyewitnesses are saying the second car, a
Toyota Sienna van, had been abandoned since 6 AM
Tuesday morning. The car exploded after a beeping
sound was heard by curious local residents.
The second blast killed more people than the first
one as many residents and traders, who had fled the
scene over the first explosion, tried to join rescue
agencies to save the injured and retrieve the bodies
of the dead. Men of the fire service, who responded
to distress calls to fight the resultant inferno, were
said to have stayed far away from the market over
fears that more bombs could have been planted in
the market.

Also,
University of Jos twitter handle just announced that
they lost 15 students at yesterday's twin bomb blasts
that left over 200 people dead. 8 of those students
were final year med students. Too sad!

Chibok Abduction: Another escaped abducted girl narrates her ordeal...Read HERE

By     No comments:

Another escaped victim, identified as Godiya Simon,
who was among the over 234 school girls that were
abducted from Government Girls Secondary School,
Chibok, Borno State, by Boko Haram members on
April 14, yesterday narrated her ordeal in Sambisa
Forest.
Speaking to journalist in Maiduguri, on how she
escaped from the dreaded sambisa forest, she
explained that after their kidnapping, they were
made to walk through the forest where they were
later kept in an open place inside the forest.
"The place we were kept was not just right and I felt
that these people might kill us. We heard many bad
things about them. I then began to plan how to
escape. I told them that I wanted to urinate which
they said no to, but after I kept repeating it, they
allowed me to go along with three others. That was
the time we escaped from the camp" she said.
The escapee, who said she couldn't trace her way
back to the forest acknowledged that they were held
in the forest, as they could hear the sect members
talking.
"No, I do not think I will know, you know we
travelled at night. When we went to urinate, we
started running. We were too scared, we just kept
running, believing that with God on our side, we
would get help" she said.
Simon said after they had ran very far from the
forest, they fortunately came across a Fulani
herdsman, who helped them out of the bush to the
express-road where they boarded a vehicle back to
Chibok.
She disclosed that she was in Maiduguri because they
were asked to come and watch a video that was
recently released by the Boko Haram, leader
Abubakar Shakau, in order for them to ascertain if
the other girls who are still in captivity are all from
GGSS.
Simon, who confirmed that there were many of her
schoolmates in the video, added that she felt a little
bit relieved seeing that they are still alive, and
expressed optimism that they will come back like she
did.
The elated escapee asserted that she felt bad when
she saw some her schoolmates that are Christians
reciting the Holy Koran.
"It makes me feel sad knowing that they must have
been forced to recite the Koran. I know four of the
girls to be good Christians that will never accept to
change their faith. It is sad that they have been
forced to become Muslims" Simon said.
