Ebola: White House Asks For $58 Million To Fight Ebola Outbreak
The White House his asking for an additional $58
million to accelerate the development and production of
Ebola virus medicines and two possible Ebola vaccines,
according to documents the administration has
provided to Congress.
The money, requested as part of a group of
"anomalies" the Office of Management and Budget is
seeking from the current authorization and
appropriations process, reflects the administration's
ongoing effort to respond to the massive Ebola
outbreak in Africa. The funding would also cover
testing of these treatments in the United States and
Africa.
On Friday, the World Health Organization announced it
would speed the use of experimental treatments and
vaccines -- including the use of survivor’s blood -- to
contain the spread of the virus.
