EFCC Does Not Contact The Presidency Before Doing Their Job – Lai Mohammed Counter PDP Allegation

By     No comments:
EFCC

The federal government has refuted claims by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that the arrest of its spokesman, Chief Olisa Metuh, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is an attempt to silence the opposition.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, disclosed this yesterday in Abuja at the end of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at which President Muhammadu Buhari presided.
While answering questions from journalists, Mohammed said the federal government does not dictate to the anti-corruption agencies how to do their work.
“I think the first point to make is that this government is not micromanaging any of the anti-graft agencies. I know for a fact that they don’t contact the president or anybody before they do their job,” Mohammed said.
“I think the media also have to do more than they are doing right now. They should investigate these allegations and also make their independent judgments about them.
“Honestly, if the EFCC or ICPC says that they are able to trace certain amounts of money to my account, I don’t want you to believe it, I want you to also ask for proof. Do your investigation.
“I can assure you that this government, no functionary in government micromanages or directs the EFCC or ICPC on who to arrest and who not to arrest.”

PDP Youths Tell Metuh To Resign, Begs Him To Save The Party From Further Embarrassment

By     No comments:
Olisa Metuh-EFCC

The PDP National Youth Frontier (PDPNYF) has called for the resignation of embattled national publicity secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olisa Metuh.
Mr. Metuh has been detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, since Tuesday over his alleged involvement in the $2.1 billion arms deal scandal rocking the Office of the former National Security Adviser, ONSA.
The PDP spokesman is alleged to have received questionable payments from the ex-NSA, Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd.) to the tune of N1.4 billion.
He, however, denies any wrongdoing, insisting that he carried out assignments for former President Goodluck Jonathan for which he was duly paid.
The PDPNYF, however, said it noted with great concern, the various allegations and charges against some PDP members that served in government, even as these allegations and charges are yet to be proven.
In a statement signed by its national coordinator, Usman Okai Austin, the body said “We are calling for the immediate resignation of Olisa Metuh from his position as National Publicity Secretary until ongoing corruption investigations by the EFCC are concluded. The PDP as the voice of Nigeria’s opposition must remain credible and untainted.
“We dissociate well-meaning and credible members of the PDP completely from any corrupt practices perpetuated by a minority while the party was in power. Not everybody in PDP is corrupt”.
“However, while we are aware that indeed an insignificant fraction of members of the PDP may have indulged in acts capable of tarnishing the integrity of our great party, we call on President Muhammadu Buhari to expand the scope of the war to include members of his own party indicted for acts of corruption. We are calling on the President to investigate some of his serving ministers and associates who have grievous allegations leveled against them”, the group said.
PDPNYF said it has resolved to ensure that any member of the PDP so convicted shall also face intra party disciplinary actions and severely sanctioned accordingly.
“As a prominent PDP youth group with a membership profile in excess of 300,000 across the zones of Nigeria, we find it difficult to understand the nature of transactions which caused there to be huge sums of cash deposits into the private bank accounts of a few party members who are not known to be government workers, contractors or administrators. Only anti-graft agencies and the courts can assist in resolving these mysteries and Nigerians are eagerly waiting.
“The PDP stands steadfastly by the ideals of the G-34 founding fathers of the party. The ‘Principle of the Rule of Law’, which was a cardinal, focus of founding fathers of the party remains sacrosanct and immutable.
“Let us however seize this opportunity to state that while the war against corruption is in the overall interest of Nigerians, it must not be used as a weapon to victimize and weaken the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP). Events of the past few weeks have shown that the fabric of democracy is threatened and the opposition is at risk of being beaten into a state of silence by a leading party that is notorious for its open contempt of our judiciary”.
.
The group said on behalf of the party, it regrets the conduct of prominent members the PDP, who have so far been implicated in acts ranging from corruption to outright theft.
“But we shall not preempt the courts by pronouncing them guilty. We strongly aver that it is only in the best interest of our great party that they step aside, handing over the reins of leadership to persons who command bigger measures of respect. Their continued stay in office shall continue to rob our great party of its integrity, honour and credibility on a daily basis. As it stands, Nigerians are watching and no serious Nigerian is currently taking our party seriously.
“Under the party’s current leadership, the party is now being represented at various levels, including the social media by some of the most funny, shady and incompetent characters. Who will take such a party seriously?
“Finally, we reiterate our commitment and loyalty to the ideals of the founding fathers of PDP and remain resolved to work for the success of the coming national convention which we are hopeful will throw up a new set of strong, vibrant, credible and selfless leaders”.

I Collected N100m From Anenih But I Didn’t Know It Was From Arms Fund – Falae

By     No comments:
Olu-Falae

As the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, continues to close in on those that directly or indirectly benefited from the $2.1 billion arms deal bazaar coordinated by the former National Security Adviser, NSA, Sambo Dasuki, a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Chief Olu Falae, has admitted receiving N100 million from Chief Tony Anenih.
Anenih was Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party’s Board of Trustees (BoT) and was fingered as one of several other chieftains of the former ruling party who received funds from the Office of the NSA to execute the 2015 general elections.
Falae, who is the National Chairman of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, claimed that the money paid by Anenih was in fulfilment of a partnership between his party and the PDP.
According to the former SGF, the payment was made to SDP to campaign for the PDP and then President Goodluck Jonathan in the 2015 presidential election.
“It is true that N100 million was given to my party to endorse and work for the Jonathan’s candidature in the 2015 election. We used the money for that purpose and we effectively campaigned for the PDP since we did not have presidential candidate in the election. The money was not for me.
“Thank God I’m a retired civil servant. I have all the documents to prove all that transpired between the two parties”.
The former presidential candidate in the 1999 presidential election, however, pointed out that there was no way he could know that the money was from the arms fund.
“With all the money PDP has and having spent 16 years in power, how would I know that the money was from the arms deal? No reference was made to the arms deal. So, they should not bring me into the arms issue. The relationship was purely interparty affairs”, Falae stated.

How To Score Very High In JAMB/UTME Exam

By     No comments:

Exams are extremely stressful events in everyone’s life, and the only way to deal with them satisfactorily is to be well-prepared, Motivation is an important factor that would help you to study well for your exams. This is not an art or a big technique. It is as simple as your need to feed yourselves everyday.
Scoring a high mark in the UTME exam is not as difficult as most students think it is , it all depends on you ability to prepare well and heed to simple instructions. This tips will guide you on how to prepare well and achieve success in your UTME exam.
=> Utilize the Early Morning Hours:
Lose an hour in the morning, and you will be all day hunting for it. ~Richard Whately
It has scientifically proven that our brains work at its best during the early morning hours. The freshness that you feel in the morning time, can be found nowhere in the rest of the day. During the morning, you can study some subject whichever you feel is complicated, because the grasping power of the brain will be more during this time. The point is, once you gain confidence in a difficult subject, you can easily go on with other subjects and excel without much effort.
NOTE:- Don’t try doing this, resting on your down comforter or trying to study beside someone who is having a good sleep in the early morning, because undesirable psychological effects can overtake you.
=> Avoid Exam Anxiety/Overcome Your Fear :
One of the main reasons why students fail their UTME exams is because of FEAR! They’re not really afraid of the exam itself, what they are actually afraid of is FAILURE!! They’re afraid of the consequences that awaits them if they fail they exam.
As a student , if you really want to pass the UTME exam , then you must overcome your fear!!. Look at the UTME exam as a roadblock between you and 10 million naira, remove that entity of fear in you and push that roadblock out of your way to glory!!
=> Study Regularly/Everyday :
Researches has shown that 60% of nigerian students don’t read , which has been one of the major reasons why the nigerian education sector has continued to dwindle.
The brain can give out information ONLY when you input data in it , so the more you read the more knowlege you get and that improves your chances of passing an exam. As a student , study hard and prepare well for your exam. Forget all the luxries and focus more on inputing data into your brain!. Spend at least 4 hours of your day reading , read according to JAMB’s syllabus and focus more on areas where questions are most likely to come from.
=> Associate Yourself with Good and Hardworking People:
It is true that friends play a significant role in shaping your career. When you associate yourself with bad and irresponsible people who care the least about their education, it is likely that they may rub off on you. The positive waves from good and hardworking friends, will motivate you to study well.
=> Answer Past Questions Regularly:
Its always good to know the area and mode at which questions are being set, Get past questions of the previous years and try to answer them. Get familiar with their question asking pattern. Every past question has a 3/5 chance of been repeated. Doing this will help you a lot.
=> Work More On Your Question Answering Speed :
You don’t have all day to answer a question!. Jamb gives you limited time to answer a question , therefore , it is essential for you to work on your question answering speed. On average you have about 60 seconds to spend on a question. Spending more than 60 seconds would slow you down and leave you lagging behind. Don’t delay yourself on a question , if you didn’t get the answer to a question , skip it and move on to the next question. You can always go back to the ones you didn’t do.
=> Choosing The Right Answer/Option In The Multiple Choice Question :
This is where students fall into jamb’s trap. The UTME exam is one of the most Tactical exams in nigeria. Its is very tactical but yet easy. The answers are somehow look a-likes. You have four options A B C D , and out of those 4 A And B looks Correct. The real answer is staring at you but you’re too blind to see it!. What do you do in this kind of situation?
If you’ve really prepared (read alot) then it becomes easy for you. In this kind of situation , the first thing to do is to eliminate!! Eliminate the incorrect answers and leave your self with the ones that are most likely to be correct. Afterthat , look carefully at the options once more and try to relate them to the question that was asked. You’ld definately find one that corresponds to your question , pick that one as your answer!!.
Don’t…
>> Procrastinate your course of study.
>> Keep your cell phones and other gadgets while you are studying. They consume all your time without your knowledge.
>> Get intimidated if your friends are running ahead of you.
>> Miss the lectures of good and efficient teachers.
>> Let anyone say that you cannot do it.
Thats all readers , hope you found this useful.

Mexican drug lord El Chapo recaptured in Mexico

By     No comments:

Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman, one of the world's most sought-after drug lords, has been captured in his Sinaloa hometown.
Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto announced Friday.
"Mission accomplished!" the president said via his Twitter account.

He was captured again today at 4:30am in a firefight between his bodyguards and Mexican Marine special forces in the Sinaloa city of Los Mochis, on the Pacific coast and not far from his home, government officials said. Five of his associates were killed, six injured and several captured, the navy said. One marine was wounded.

The special forces were responding to a citizen’s tip regarding armed people in a home when they came under fire, the navy said.

Guzman -- a multi-billionaire thanks to his Sinaloa Cartel, which traffics in cocaine and marijuana -- escaped from jail in July for the second time, dramatically tunneling his way out of Mexico's top maximum-security prison.

Guzman’s escape last year was a major embarrassment for the Peña Nieto government, exposing deep levels of corruption and an inability to mete out justice.

The U.S. government lamented Mexico’s refusal to extradite Guzman to the U.S., where he has been indicted in California and elsewhere because of his cartel’s expanding operations. It is likely that Washington will now revive extradition requests.

Yaya Toure blasts CAF for not awarding him African Player of the Year award

By     No comments:

Ivory Coast and Man city midfielder Yaya Toure, has labelled the Confederation of African Football (CAF) as  'indecent' and ‘pathetic’ for not awarding him the African Player of the Year award.
Toure's complaints appeared to have come from a perceived lack of recognition of Ivory Coast winning the Africa Cup of Nations back in February.
The Manchester City midfielder was pipped to the gong by Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as he missed out on winning for the fifth season running.

Aubameyang, born in France to a Spanish mum but a Gabonese international, has already scored 24 goals in 23 games this campaign and collected the prestigious prize on Friday.
“I'm very, very disappointed. It's sad to see Africa react this way, that they don't think African achievements are important.
“I think this is what brings shame to Africa, because to act in that way is indecent. But what can we do about it? Us Africans, we don't show that Africa is important in our eyes. We favour more what's abroad than our own continent. That is pathetic,” he lamented.
Toure continued, claiming that even FIFA would not have come to the result.
“I'll give an example. Messi won all the trophies, but it's Cristiano Ronaldo who won the award [Ballon d'Or 2014]. What would you say? It's unfair.
“Even FIFA, with all its history of corruption, wouldn't do [what CAF judges did].
“Yaya will take care of Yaya and let Africa take care of itself. As I've been told many times, you can't take care of Africa too much because Africa will be the first to let you down.
“When I return to Europe, a lot of questions will be asked. I think I'm going to have to answer them. As I'm someone who's honest, I will always tell the truth,” he fumed.
