Saint Obi – “Why I Stopped Acting movies”

By     No comments:
saint

In a recent interview with Daily Sun, veteran Nollywood action star Saint Obi, opened up on why he stopped acting.
Saint Obi said: –
“As one grows older, you realize that you do not need to be in all the movies. If you have been following my career, as years went by, from doing 10 movies in a year, I reduced it to six. I later reduced to one per year, because I felt that it’s not how many times you appear in a movie but how well you act. People call me all the time to come and feature in their movies, but I always decline. My reasons are that, as you move around you have other aspirations and other opportunities appear. In Igbo parlance, you don’t watch a masquerade display in one spot; you have to move around to get the total view. Any smart person will take advantage of any opportunity that comes, there are a million and one businesses out there that align with what one’s profession. The Dangotes of this world do a million businesses; they don’t stick to one business and become who they are today. I didn’t stop acting because jobs stopped coming but because I needed to do other things. However, I am still involved in the industry even though it is mostly behind the camera”

Kachikwu Unseated As OPEC President After 2 Days

By     No comments:

The Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) has named Mohammed Al Sada to succeed Nigeria’s Ibe Kachikwu as the organisation’s conference president.

Kachikwu, minister of state for petroleum, became OPEC president only on Wednesday, replacing Diezani Alison-Madueke.

However, a fresh election was made on Friday at the 168th ordinary meeting of the organisation in Vienna, Austria, Kachikwu’s first meeting at the helm.

In a statement by the organisation, registering the resumption of Indonesian as an OPEC member, the oil cartel declared the new holders of other offices.

“In approving Indonesia’s resumption of its full membership in the organization, the conference extended a warm welcome to its delegation, headed by HE Sudirman Said, minister of energy and mineral resources of Indonesia,” OPEC secretariat revealed.

“The conference elected HE Dr Mohammed Bin Saleh Al Sada, minister of energy and industry of Qatar, as president of the conference for one year, with effect from 1st January 2016, and HE Ali I. Naimi, minister of petroleum and mineral resources of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as alternate president, for the same period.

The conference failed to curb oversupply, as it banked on non-OPEC supply to drop in 2016, when the market is expected to experience a surge in demand.

“The latest numbers see OECD and non-OECD inventories standing well above the five-year average. Having reviewed the oil market outlook for 2015, and the projections for 2016, the Conference observed that global economic growth is currently at 3.1% in 2015 and is forecast to expand by 3.4% next year.

“In terms of supply and demand, it was noted that non-OPEC supply is expected to contract in 2016, while global demand is anticipated to expand again by 1.3 mb/d.”

The Conference decided that its next ordinary meeting will convene on Thursday, June 2, 2016 in Vienna, Austria.

We Are Not Against Peaceful Pro-biafra Protests In Yoruba Land - OPC

By     No comments:
Image result for news

The Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) on Saturday said its attention has been drawn to news “circulating in the media, some with the picture of its National Coordinator, Otunba Gani Adams kicking against the plan of pro-Biafra group to stage their protest in Lagos.”

The group said that the reports were reckless and sensitive, noting that the statement cannot be traced to OPC as led by Adams.

OPC Director of media and publicity, Yinka Oguntimehin, said the group never issued any statement against any tribe or body over their right of association or protest as long as such a protest was peaceful and security of lives and property was assured and monitored by security agents.

“The Igbos have a population of over 35 million spread all over the world, some of them have stayed in Lagos and indeed the South West for over 40 years.

“It is not the purview of OPC to deny such people their right to determine their future and membership of the country as contained in the United Nations Self Determination charter of 14 December 1960.

“The United Nations General Assembly adopted General Assembly Resolution 1514 (XV) under titled Declaration on the Granting of Independence to Colonial Countries and Peoples provided for the granting of independence to colonial countries and peoples in providing an inevitable legal linkage between self-determination and its goal of decolonisation, and a postulated new international law-based right of freedom also in economic self-determination.

“Although the Igbos do not allow Yoruba such freedom in their region as they enjoy in South West, it is not a reason to go against their decision to self determination.

“However, if they step out of line allowed in the constitution, the Federal Government should do the needful by making use of the security agencies.

“The position of OPC on self determination is clear as we are in support of true Federalism and Statism, but we are not in anyway against the choice of Ibos to self determination.”

The statement pointed out that one Shina Akinpelu issued the anti-Biafra protest, advising media houses to shun further releases from the name.

“Akinpelu is a dismissed member of the Congress and he has no mandate of the congress to issue any statement,” it concluded.

Etcetera Blast Singer Asa & Korede Bello – ‘Your Collabos Are Getting Dumber By The Day”

By     No comments:

Y’all will be screaming out loud after reading this latest article by Etcetera. Dude is crazy blunt and he really came for Asa and Naeto C over their latest song ‘Share my blessing’ in it.
According to Etcetera, the first line of the song almost pulled off his knee cap, left him almost dead and is the most fatal accident he has ever had till date. Please read and let’s know if you agree with his message that Asa’s collabos are getting dumber by the day.
I walked into the music preview room at the radio station and I saw one of our sound engineers previewing Naeto C’s songs before uploading it into the station’s new digital library for airplay.
I immediately walked out of the room because I wasn’t ready to activate my anger mode by putting myself through another experience of listening to another Nigerian rap song with shallow and crappy lines of which Naeto C is the culprit-in-chief, only to walk into the transmitting room and heard the presenter on duty introducing ‘Share my Blessing’ by Naeto C and Asa, as the next song on the play list.
I have to admit that this time around, I wasn’t too eager to make a dash for the door. Maybe because I heard Asa was on the song and thought that it would have at least inspired Naeto C to use better and more inspiring rhymes. Hope is a very dangerous
thing. It turned out that I hoped for too much.
The first line of the song almost pulled off my knee cap. It is the most fatal accident I have had till date. I almost died when I heard “what a conundrum” within the first few lines. What Conundrum? Like seriously? Bros Naeto, the only thing close to a conundrum in the whole song was how you convinced Asa to feature in the song.
That song has some of the dumbest lines ever used in the history of rap music worldwide. As I sat there gasping for air, I tried consoling myself that every artist is allowed one mistake in a career lifespan and ‘Share my Blessing’ is a mistake that won’t happen again.
But on a second thought, I asked myself, didn’t Asa or her manager Janet, hear Naeto C’s lines before accepting to feature on the song? I would have Usain-Bolted out of that studio, screaming ‘tufiakwa gi’ and snapping my fingers as I rid myself of all the phloem in my system.
Asa apparently hasn’t learnt her lessons. Her latest collabo with Korede Bello is another career mistake that shouldn’t have happened. The lightening has struck twice. Korede Bello and Asa have succeeded where others have failed. Koredo Bello and Asa have succeeded in taking every crappy song from the past decade in Nigeria and mashed them into a musical abomination; add that to the level of auto-tune on Korede’s voice; which sounds like T-Pain after he’s slammed his testicles in a car door. Ironically, slamming my own testicles in a car door is something I would rather do than listen to this song again.
Sadly, the fiasco with Naeto C now looks like a piece of art compared to this song with Korede Bello. This is a whole new grade of crime against music. Asa, how do you explain this to your fans? I have searched for justification even from a musician’s perspective and found none. The whole song comes out childish and guess Korede knows it too, which explains why he had to sing it to us as the first line that he is no longer a child. Korede has proved conclusively with this song that there are two things a Nigerian youth can’t do: play music and feign humility. Titling your song, “Somebody Great”, and blabbing all through the song about “Somebody wey dey spray millions and somebody wey go save billions” is that what defines greatness? Spraying of millions? What are you doing to yourself Asa? How did you get yourself involved in this song? Why did you do this to your fans?
I won’t be surprised to hear that the sound engineer that mixed this song is deaf. That you couldn’t hear that the whole song is drenched in reverb is unbelievable. For God’s sake, the presence in the song is very disturbing to the ears. And what is that thing that sounds like someone striking a pot cover with “ewedu” broom? Please don’t tell me that it is the crash or the hi-hats. Please sir, can you take back your mix and reduce the shakers. Damn it, take back your mix and keep it to yourself.
Asa, I swear you no try at all.
The only excuse that would probably make some sense to me now is if I am told that you guys were just trying to create something for the current generation but instead of a smooth-rocking guitar classic, you have instead created this audible shit. Yes, this song is literally shit that you can hear. It is the worst song from Asa that I have had the displeasure of listening.
Unfortunately though, for some inexplicable reason, some people are actually going to play it and like it and start insulting Etcetera like he is the reason the song is rubbish.
Please, the excuse that Asa was not involved in this collaboration with Korede Bello; that Don Jazzy recorded her freestyle and used on the song, is not going to hold any water here. Nobody does that in this age and time knowing the ramification. And until Don Jazzy is called out by Asa’s management, I will assume the freestyle story is just another industry lie and that “Somebody Great” is a well thought out and planned collaboration between Asa and Korede Bello. Until then, trying to water down Asa’s involvement in this song will be a blatant in-your-face insult to her fans as much as tweaking the synthesizer at the beginning of the song to give it a rock guitar feel is a blatant in-your-face insulting to all guitarists out there.

To be continued next week.

Man City Coach, Pellegrini Speaks Out On Why Iheanacho Isn’t Playing Regularly

By     No comments:
JS63028982

Manchester City’s 19-year-old Nigerian forward, Kelechi Iheanacho looks set for a successful career, with Coach Manuel Pellegrini needs to offer him more chances to show what he can do.
City can look forward to a League Cup semi-final with Everton in the new year after their comprehensive win over Hull City.
Perhaps the only negative was the omission from the starting line-up of Iheanacho, City’s most promising young player and the star of their win over Crystal Palace in the previous round.
He came off the bench with 20 minutes remaining against Steve Bruce’s side and scored his third goal of the season, but given the quality of his fleeting performances throughout the season most people felt sure he would play the full 90 minutes. It begs the question: where are Iheanacho’s chances coming from if he can’t get a start in the League Cup?
“It’s very difficult with young players. It’s very important not to think because you arrive with the first team you are ready as a professional player. He [Iheanacho] is a player that must work a lot but I think he’s a player that has important options in the future.
Where he arrives will depend on how he takes his chances.” Caution with young players is perfectly understandable, particularly at City where the level required to make the transition from academy to first team is so high. However, Pellegrini is in danger of holding a player back who appears nailed on to become a first-team regular.

Secret drone films 'hooker having sex' with 75-year-old man in car

By     No comments:

A suspected prostitute and her alleged 75 year old pensioner client have been hit with criminal charges after being filmed by a drone. The flying camera was operated by a vigilante anti-prostitution activist who recorded Douglas Blansett, 75 and Amanda Zolicoffer, 27, getting it on in the front of his truck, police claim.

The pair are now facing public lewdness charges in connection with the incident earlier this year in Oklahoma City, US.

The drone is shown dropping to within a few feet of the vehicle so it is reflected in the windscreen.
It films Blansett astride Zolicoffer in the front seat of the white pickup truck.

The duo separated after Zolicoffer, who was identified by her tattoo saying "Baby Gangster", saw the drone hovering overhead.
The footage was filmed by Brian Bates, an Oklahoma “video vigilante” who makes it his business to name and shame prostitutes and their clients via his website.
Writing on his website, Bates said he had chosen the drone because his previous practise of "running up and opening car doors of people engaging in criminal acts" and then filming them was "pretty damn dangerous".
He said at least three people he has caught on camera were later convicted of committing murder and several of the women he had documented had themselves been murdered.
So instead of risking being hurt he decided "why not reduce the risk of personal injury and simply let a drone go in for the “You’re Busted Buddy” moment?".

In March, Bates followed Zolicoffer when she climbed into the truck of a suspected client and trailed it until it turned down a deserted road leading to a tire yard.

From an adjacent street, Bates then launched a drone and flew it above the parked Ford F-150. He then posted the footage on his YouTube page and showed it to police.
In probable cause affidavits , an Oklahoma City police officer reported receiving the drone video from Bates.

The cop confirmed Bates’s account that “Zolicoffer’s pants were off and the driver appeared to be having sexual intercourse with Zolicoffer.”

Sergeant Ben Lacaze added :
“Once Zolicoffer and the driver saw the drone, they immediately ceased their activity and left the area.”
Oklahoma City cops last month arrested Zolicoffer and Blansett for public lewdness and released them on bail.
Both have pleaded not guilty to the charge and are free on $500 bond.
