Dangote Reacts To Quit Notice Issued To Igbos

The Chairman of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote has reacted to the quit notice issued to Igbos by a coalition of northern youths.

The Arewa groups had asked South-easterners living in the north to vacate before October 1.

Giving his position on the issue which has drawn condemnation from many groups and individuals, the billionaire said joblessness was the reason for the ultimatum.

Dangote said this when a team of business executives from Lagos Business School (LBS), visited his multi-billion dollars refinery and petrochemical projects in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos.

“Some guys who have no relevance and values came out to issue a warning that Igbo should leave the North.

‘I am surprised everybody started talking about this nonsense. Why are we talking about it?

“Obviously, in a place where there is a lot of joblessness, it is expected that this kind of jobless people would come out with all sorts of anger.

“We understand the reasons why they are angry, but they cannot justify their action when they have decided not to work.

“They only issue senseless warning to keep themselves relevant,” Nation quoted him.

Africa’s richest man assured that his refinery project, when completed, would create thousands of direct jobs for the youths and millions of indirect jobs in the value chain.

"We Won’t Allow Kanu, IPOB Create Another Problem For Future Nigerian"- Adeyanju

Former Director of New Media of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Convener, Concerned Nigerians, Prince Deji Adeyanju has taken a swipe at the Supreme Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu saying he does not have an iota of respect for the IPOB leader and that he would not allow Mr. Kanu to create another problems for the future Nigerian children just like former president, Olusegun Obasanjo, Ex-Head of state, General Yakubu Gowon and the Ex-late Biafran leader, Gen. Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu have done. In a series of tweets, Mr. Adeyanju also said that he won’t continue to watch Kanu and his Biafran supporters insult other tribes and their religion but will speak up to condemn any such insult even those targeted at the Igbos.

Prince Adeyanju said this while reacting to an alleged video showing the IPOB leader Mazi Kanu addressing a crowed of Biafrans in front of his father’s compound and saying, “Anyone against Biafra will not be alive.”

“We are starting with Anambra come November this year. There will be no governorship election in Anambra State. In 2019, the whole of Biafra land will not vote for any President. There will be no Senator, there will be no House of Reps, there will be no House of Assembly and there will be no councillorship elections in Biafra land if they (federal government) fail to call for a referendum,” Mazi Kanu was quoted saying.

But Mr. Adeyanju who took to the offensive at such comments also condemned the IPOB leader for asking Easterners to boycott the coming Governorship elections in Anambra state.

According to him, “Can you imagine this boy. Inasmuch as I am in support of self-actualization, I don’t have an iota respect for Nnamdi Kanu. The guy is just a whimp! I can’t continue to watch Kanu & his followers insult other people’s tribes & religion. If anyone insults the Igbos I will condemn him too.”

The generation of Obj, Gowon & Ojukwu created problems 4us. These are inherited problems. We won’t watch Nnamdi Kanu do same to our children

— Adeyanju Deji (@adeyanjudeji) 24 June 2017

“Those who divided Nigeria along ethnic lines in the past are wrong and they got us in this mess. Those who also do same today are wrong.”

However, the Ex-Director of new media for PDP said he supported the restructuring of Nigeria especially to give an Igbo man a chance to become president of Nigeria saying equity in Nigeria will only start when an Igbo man emerges president of the country.

“I have always supported Igbo Presidency & will always continue to. I can never understand a situation where the Igbo man can’t be president.

“Our generation must solve all the marginalization the Igbos have experienced in Nigeria after the Biafra war. I support Igbo Presidency”

“Equity starts from an Igbo man becoming president. Then the rest will follow. Then restructuring, etc.”

However, Mr. Adeyanju’s swipe at the IPOB leader drew some pro and con response from many Nigerians. While some supported his stand, others criticized him for attacking the freedom fighter.

A tweeter user, @busaur82 said, “Suddenly Adeyanju became #Biafra enemy..but he was #Biafrans luv when he spent time, money & energy to roll up the street of ABJ 4 kanu.”

Another, @Sir_CrossDeEmma, also asked, “Since when did kanu became your headache?”

But Adeyanju replied, “I have never supported #Biafra & will not support it. I only said it’s wrong 4 soldiers 2 kill those supporting it. I have being consistent in saying when citizens ask for referendum or self determination, nations don’t kill them. Nations engage them because it’s an intellectual debate. Also I opposed Secret Trial of Kanu because it’s injustice.”

Also, @nzenwobi said, “Buhari spoke to Nigerians after close to 50 days in Hausa language yet Nnamdi Kalu is your problem.”

@dr_ezeh equally said, “Pls try and respect the pains of a nation. When Abiola was denied his mandate Yorubas throu NADECO & radio KUDIRAT talked a lot of rubbish. And nobody castigated their actions even as Yorubas then demanded a separation from Nig.Pls respect the pains of Igbos in Nigerian state now.”

But again, Adeyanju replied, “Many of you who support all the lawless talks of Nnamdi Kanu will come tomorrow to say you want to be leaders in this country. We wait 4u.”

And to a tweeter user who is pro-IPOB, Adeyanju said, “We are all to blame for remaining silent while Kanu was brainwashing you but no more.”

Yet, to another user @BiafrXit, who said, “@realFFK Then allow my god to ask/demand BiafrExit which process has been declared lawful by the court. He’s is my god OK,” Adeyanju replied, “Your God can continue agitating his #Biafra but he must do it within the ambit of the law. Simple as ABC.”

And so the debate continued.

Recall that the Justice Binta Nyako-led Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, had, on Tuesday, April 25, 2017, granted bail to Mazi Kanu on health grounds. Part of the bail conditions were that the IPOB leader would not grant press interviews and that he must avoid being seen in a crowd of more than 10 people. Kanu was thereafter freed after meeting the bail conditions given to him by Justice Binta Nyako.

Recall that Kanu had perfected the bail after the South East Senate caucus and former Deputy Governor of Abia State, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, a Jewish High Chief Priest, Immanuu-El Shalom and a Chartered Accountant residing in Abuja, Tochukwu Uchendu signed the bail bond.

Recall that Adeyanju was arrested by the Nigerian Police at the Unity Fountain in Abuja on April 21 over a planned peaceful protest against the secret trial of Nnamdi Kanu.

However, two months after the IPOB leader was freed, he has welcomed multitudes and granted press interviews, saying he is a prince in his community and being that his father is a king, it is a common occurrence that many people who are the king’s subjects would visit the home on different occasions

Rivers State Not Part Of Biafra - Gov. Wike Proclaims

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has stressed that Nigeria must remain an indivisible and united nation, saying the government and people of Rivers will not be part of the agitation to break up the country.

Speaking Tuesday at the Sultan's palace in Sokoto when he led a high-powered delegation of traditional rulers and leaders of thought from Rivers on a Sallah visit, Wike noted that every nation in the world has its peculiar challenges

The governor affirmed that the onus is on the leaders of Nigeria is to find lasting solutions to the various challenges confronting the nation, stressing that there are better ways to solve the agitations and problems facing Nigeria, rather than seeking a break-up.

"Rivers State and its people believe in the oneness and unity of Nigeria and that is our stand. In Sokoto, we have a father in the Sultan. In fact, he is a father to all Nigerians and he is a peace builder in this country and beyond.

"I have also been friends with the Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal , since before his emergence as a Speaker of the House of Representatives and this will be sustained despite the fact that we belong to different political parties," he added.

Tambuwal, who accompanied Wike upon the visit to the palace, had earlier said that the visit could not have come at a better time than now. He expressed the hope that his visit would help to strengthen the bond of unity between the two states.

In his remarks, Sultan Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar described the ongoing agitations in the country as symptoms of the rot in the Nigerian system, adding that although a lot of things have gone wrong in the past, hope is not lost.

"A lot of things were done in the past by some people with impunity and nothing was done. That is why you find a shortage of good governance now weighing us down in the country. However, as it is now, no matter how bad your hand is, you cannot cut it and throw away," he added.

The Sultan called for dialogue to resolve all the misunderstandings and problems in the country, saying that Nigerians should work together, retrace their steps and move forward.

In that regard, he appealed to Nigerian statesmen to wade into the matter. "We are not short of statesmen across Nigeria and they should help the country by championing the dialogue," he said.

Those in Wike's entourage include former Rivers Governor Celestine Omehia; former Acting National Chairman of PDP, Uche Secundus; former NBA President, OCJ Okocha; Chairman of Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers and Amanayabo of Opobo Kingdom, King Dandeson Douglas Jaja; Amanayabo of Abonnema, King Gbobo Bob-Manuel; and Oda of Abua, King Kelly Obunge.

My Marriage With Tonto Dikeh Is Over" - Churchill

Last weekend, fresh reports surfaced online about the 7-month old crisis rocking Tonto Dikeh's relationship with her estranged hubby, Olakunle Churchill. A text message she sent to her mother-in-law was released online and Churchill's first wife also came into picture supporting Tonto Dikeh and threatening to expose Churchill.

LIB met Churchill at a conference where he spoke about unveiling a new Anti-Domestic Violence programme. Though reluctant at first, Churchill agreed to speak with us.

In this tell-all interview, Churchill calls out Azuka of Media Room Hub who he says refused to publish the evidence he gave to her because she has mutual friends with Tonto Dikeh. He also went to say he's done fighting to save the relationship.

Let's talk about your new domestic violence initiative?

The domestic violence campaign that we are embarking on with some partners from United Kingdom. We'll be setting up a domestic violence center where we'll have a call center to link up cases of emergencies with hospitals and police stations to give quick response and aids to victims of domestic violence. The issue of domestic violence cuts across men and women but most times the attention and focus is always on women, so this initiative seeks to investigate and examine all cases of domestic violence because we'll be working with the police and relevant authorities.

Your relationship with Tonto Dikeh has been marred with accusations of domestic violence, how do you intend to deal with that and your new campaign?
The truth is, what you read in the news is different from reality. My partner fights dirty and that's what she's put out there. Tonto will say anything to sound believable and gain public sympathy and that's what she puts out there. It's not real, I've never laid my hands on her ever. I'm not a violent person and I'm not temperamental, as a matter of fact I don;t take offence on anything at all, that's how God made me, people who are close to me knows this, when I'm upset about something I simply avoid the offender and come to terms with the fact that I don't need such vibes around me.

So how do you defend allegations that you beat her, made her lose a 4-month pregnancy and always cheat on her.

They are all fabricated, because my partner believes she's a celebrity and she can make people believe whatever she wants them to believe and using her celebrity status to manipulate people to believe what she wants and she's in the business of make-belief but I'm a businessman, a man of very few words too. I am a private person, but she prides herself on the fact that she has the platform and fan base to bring anyone down and she also feels by the time she deals with me, I'll come back begging.

I met Tonto like 6-months before she took in, so where did the initial 4 months pregnancy come from or did it come after she gave birth to my son?

Because she traveled during her pregnancy and came back when King was 4-month old and we had only stayed together for about 6-months after that before all the issues started, she was still breast feeding. And if indeed she had and lost a 4-month pregnancy, that will require for her to do an evacuation, which hospital did it for her and evidence does she have? It was all done to bring down my image and o destroy my reputation.

Have you actually attempted to beg and make peace?

Yes I have. The main thing that started this fight was between she and my mum and it was very dirty. I bought a house for my mum in Lekki and she came over from overseas so we can do a house warming party to launch it and just 24-hours before the house warming party, my partner got angry over a very flimsy issue and she just started breaking stuffs and scattering the house and in the process while my mum was trying to calm her down, she pushed my mum down as well. I had never seen that in my life, I had to prostrate for my mum to apologize and that was how the house warning party was cancelled because it was just 24-hours to the party and Tonto had destroyed the house, breaking and damaging things.

This happened on December 20th and the following day I packed a few of my things and traveled to Ghana. So I felt she was scared or confused on how to handle it, so she went online and started the stunts by removing Churchill from her name. And don't forget, I said this issue happened on December 20th, on the 22nd, she had one of her charity events where she kicked off a road construction work at The Karamajiji Colony Abuja of people living with disabilities on Friday, December 23, 2016 courtesy of the Big Church Foundation pledge at the walk for love event. She looked all good without any signs of beating or domestic violence which shows it was a false allegation that i laid my hands on her.

In fairness to her, while I was in Ghana, she sent a lot of text messages to apologize but I guess I took too long because I was away for over two weeks and then she just switched on me. Truth is I was actually In shock. She did that just one day to my mum's event, we had already called people, invited pastors to bless the house and all only to cancel it at the last minute because my partner destroyed the house.

So she played a fast one when I saw the story on Stella's blog with the 'rumors had it stunt' in January this year which began this whole process. Truth is, I only traveled to Ghana for a charity event with my staffs from the Abuja office just before my birthday,

What do you think is making her this bitter to fight you this much despite the love that once existed between you two?
Some people simply don't like to loose a battle and because she's a celebrity, what happened was too heavy for her to bear. She felt if the news got out, it'll be bad for her so she switched it and once she started to play the victim card, she had to continue it but it got to a point when she left my house with my son and nanny before I came back to Nigeria and she went on to grant an interview where she accused me of domestic violence and it's all lies, there's nothing like a four month pregnancy or any of the other lies. I was not even in the country when she claimed she ran away from the house because of domestic violence. So it was all planned and she took her time to pack everything because the estate still has the CCTV footage of her moving out with a Sienna and a truck.

From that interview with Azuka, she showed images of an alleged domestic violence, but she also put on a pendant (with the diamond crown customized with my son's name which I handed over to her on December 1, 2016. And in the same picture, she alleged loosing 4-months pregnancy wearing the same cloth and the same pendant. It just doesn't make sense bearing in mind that the fracas happened at my mum's home on December 20th so the timelines just don't match. she keeps complicating herself. Even the pictire she showed during the interview was shown from her phone, it wasn't clear.

Then you also granted your own interview as well?

Yea, I wouldn't have granted that interview, but the allegations were too much and because of my brand. She called me a murderer, wife beater, claimed I gave her STDs and even said my foundation is a scam and everyone knows we don;t collect money from any one for the foundation, we only use the 10% profit from Big Church Group to run it, just like paying tithe.

So I had to grant the interview when the Azuka lady from MediaRooom Hub came to me to debunk those allegations but unfortunately all the evidences I gave to Azuka was never used. I heard Azuka also went to Ghana to make findings from the embassy and police but she refused to publish all the truth she found out because she has mutual friends with Tonto Dikeh. God knows I wouldn't have granted her the interview, but they were the ones who interviewed my partner so I felt it was right I also speak through the same medium with facts.

Do you think there's still room to make it work out between you guys?

Oh, I've tried, but it's just like seeing danger and you going for it. I tried to get the relationship back so I could help her condition and because of my kid but she doesn't want peace.

While you guys were together, you produced a movie 'Kada River', why didn't she act in it?
For me, my work life is different from my family life, I try to separate it. When we started work on the movie, we weren't really in god terms even though I told her about the project. The truth is, instead of her wasting this much energy in trying to bring her husband down, I think she can put that energy to good use by going back to work and be productive. If you don't want the marriage again, you don't need to be dramatic about it by telling the world because they really don't care about you. I think she should go back to movies, reconcile with people she's offended in the industry and be humble.

What's the relationship with your son and your reaction to the fact that she dressed as you to attend his father's day event in school?

That's the main reason why I was trying to make it work, because she does somethings that are not normal at all. And only someone close to her can save her because she needs help. It's been 7-months now and all she's been doing is to give me a bad name.

She makes it look like I don't care about my son. I help other kids, so why will i ignore my son. Since my son got back to country when he was 4-months, I opened a Zenith bank account for him and his mum is he sole signatory to that account. I put money in that account regularly. I send money to her own account as well and she won't even acknowledge the money when she gets it but she goes on saying I don't take care of my son.

I've invited her family over to try and make peace but she's been deceiving everyone and goes back online to pull her stunts and the truth is King's passport has been with me since he got back from the states.

She recently said she's taken King to alot of countries in the last one year?

King has never stepped out of Africa since he got back at 4-month old. I have been with his international passport, the only place he could have gone is Ghana with hos Ecowas passport in her possession.

A few days back, your first wife also came online to speak against your mum?

The true story about that is this My first wife and marriage was a mistake, I was rushed into it. We had only dated for 6-weeks before we did something in her church. there was no registry, court. We didn't even go through the normal process of counselling and all that, like I said we had only dated for 6-weeks. I only got to know later that the church thing we did was fast tracked. We had separated for 2-years and 7-months before I met Tonto. The priest form the church said the marriage was wrong and should be annulled but she insisted on getting paper works when Tonto started with her Mr X saga. and I don't like wasting my life or my time so I had to move on because she told me she has moved on too and we didn't have any child together. So in all honesty, we had gone our separate ways before Tonto Dikeh came into the picture and Tonto knew about it all and the process of getting the paperwork sorted from my first marriage since she insisted and that is why I and Tonto didn't didn't do any official yet till we got it sorted out.

So we only went to meet the chiefs in Tonto's place because she was pregnant. We've not even done the proper traditional marriage. So I kind of find the connection between my first wife and Tonto Dikeh very strange because the last I know, they weren't on talking terms and they never met but then I also know Tonto can do anything to bring me down even as the father of her child.

Both of them seem to have an attack against your mum in common as well?
What they are doing is planned. I see they've been liking each other's posts on Instagram and the way Tonto operates is this. If she wants to bring you down, she'll be friends with your enemy, she fights so hard.

But the truth is, they both had issues with my mum, and I don't understand why my wife will not respect my mum. I can't just get married to you in one year and you are insulting my mum and calling her names, pushing her down. They know I love my mum so much and will do anything for her. It's not like you are lacking or suffering as a wife but anytime I do something for my mum, it becomes a problem. I know what that woman has been through, she goes on many days dry fasting for my sake so you don't expect me to allow her to be disrespected.

In conclusion, what's the plan you have for your son?
For my son, I don't want him to grow up in that kind of environment and I also didn't want to do anything to hurt Tonto because she's the mother of my child. In real life, I'm easy going, I'm not a trouble maker but the way she paints me as a trouble maker, I should have gone to her house and forcefully take my son or take her to court and start dragging a case, but I've not done none of that, I'm letting her take her time because he's my son and no one can take that away.

Tonto is the kind of person that I can go to her house to see my son and just knocking at her door, she'll scream domestic violence again, she knows how to manipulate things, so you have to be very careful with that kind of person.

Reflecting over everything now, do you think you relationship with her was a mistake?

Yes it was and I knew it when I was going into it. I knew I was going into danger, but I was ready to go into it to save her, but right now I do not care anymore, I'm done, I can' deal with it anymore. I don't want the relationship anymore. She says I borrowed money from her and I'm like how? where is the evidence? At least I gave her 10 million naira last Christmas and I have proof of payment, so if she borrowed me money, she should prove it.

All these kind of negativity comes from someone who said she fasted 21 days before she met me, someone who said I brought her closer to God, so where is God in this situation and the way she wants my downfall?

Now that you are single again, would you consider going into any relationship again?
NO. I don't have any plans for that. Now it's just business because I'm still in shock.

FG To Finance 2017 Budget With 11% Of Recovered Looted Funds

The Federal Government said on Monday it would use a fraction of the looted funds recovered so far to finance part of the 2017 budget.

The Minister of Budget and National Planning, Sen. Udoma Udo Udoma, said this at the 2017 budget breakdown in Abuja.

He said the total revenue projected was N5.08tn, with 11 percent coming from the recoveries made.

“On recoveries, we are being extremely conservative; what is in the budget is what we know about already.

“So if more comes, we will use it.

“Know that recoveries of looted funds are not the most dependable way to finance the budget because of the legal processes that have to be concluded before it can be spent.

“So, the money quoted in the budget is the one we have already recovered and in our pocket to spend as we wish.’’

He said the total revenue projected exceeded the 2016 projection by 30.26 percent, adding that oil revenue projection was put at 41.7 percent compared to 19 percent in 2016.

Udoma added that the high revenue expectation from oil was driven by Joint Venture Calls (JVC) cost reduction, higher production and price, exchange rate as well as additional oil-related revenues.

According to him, Company Income Tax (CIT) will contribute 15.9 per cent, Value Added Tax (VAT) 4.8 per cent, Independent Revenue 15.9 per cent and others 5.2 per cent.

He also said the projected budget deficit which stood at N2.36tn remained relatively low at 2.18 percent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

“This is within the 3 percent threshold stipulated in the Fiscal Responsibility Act (FRA).

“The budget is to be financed mainly by borrowings which have been projected at N2.32tn.

“Of this amount, N1.07tn is intended to be sourced externally, while N1.25tn will be sourced domestically.”

Udoma stated that N35bn is expected as revenue from the outright sale of government property and privatisation of state-owned enterprises.

He said to generate the projected revenue, the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) and Customs had been challenged to improve their efficiency and broaden their reach to achieve the set targets in the 2017 budget.

He said the Federal Government would strive to maximise the revenues it could generate from the oil and gas sector because the foreign exchange generated from the sector was critical for plans to diversify to the non-oil sectors.

“It is important that we use what we have to get what we need and want and what we have is oil.

“It is important that we make sure there is peace in the Niger Delta so that we can achieve the maximum from that resource,” he said.

The N7.44tn budget was signed into law by the Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, on June 12, a month after it was passed by the National Assembly.

Referred to as the ‘budget of recovery’, the budget was first presented on Dec. 14, 2016, to the two chambers of the National Assembly by President Muhammadu Buhari at an estimate of N7.30tn.

The lawmakers, however, increased it by N143bn.

Northern Youths Write Osinbajo, Beg Him To Allow Igbo Go With Biafra

The Coalition of Northern Youths have written a letter to the Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, begging him to allow Ndigbo to go and have their Biafra Republic.

In the letter signed by Ambassador Shettima Yerima, Joshua Viashman, Aminu Adam, Abdul-Azeez Suleiman and Nastura Ashir Sharif, the Northern group argued that the principle of self-determination has since world war II become a part of the United Nations Charter, which states in Article 1(2) that one of the purposes of the UN is “to develop friendly relations among nations based on respect for the principle of equal rights and self-determination of peoples”.

They said: “Though we do not doubt Your Excellency’s bona fide concerns for the peaceful resolution of the crises, we nevertheless have reservations as to the efficacy of this approach in ensuring lasting solutions.

“Our doubts are informed by the following historical antecedents that have characterized the behavior and conduct of the Igbo in Nigeria and previous efforts at containing them.

“The Igbo of Eastern Nigeria manifested their hatred for Nigeria’s unity barely five years after we gained our independence from the British when on January 15, 1966, their army officers carried out the first-ever mutiny that marked the beginning of a series of crisis which has profoundly altered the course of Nigeria’s history.

“By that ill motivated cowardly and deliberate action, the Igbo killed many northern officers from the rank of lieutenant colonel upwards and also decapitated the Prime Minister and the political leadership of the Northern and Western regions but left the zenith of Igbo leadership at the Federal level and the Eastern region intact. “In line with the Igbo plan, General Aguiyi-Ironsi took advantage of the vacuum and, instead of returning power to the remnants of the First Republic government, he appropriated the coup and attempted to consolidate it for his people.

“Army officers of the Northern Region were eventually compelled to execute a counter coup on July 29, 1966 following a coordinated series of brazen provocations from the Igbo who taunting northerners on northern streets by mocking the way leaders of the region were slain by the Igbo. This unfortunately resulted in mob action which resulted in the death of many Igbos.

“And when Lt. Col. Yakubu Gowon, from the North took over as Head of State following the counter coup, the Igbo through Lt. Col. Ojukwu, characteristically refused to recognize Gowon.

Ojukwu declared the secession of the Igbo people from Nigeria and the formation of the republic of Biafra on May 30, 1967 resulting in a civil war that led to the tragic deaths of more than 2 million Nigerians”.

“Concerned by the fact that the Biafrans have confessed to arming themselves for a violent breakup, we feel that it is risky for the rest of the country particularly the North to go on pretending that it is safe for us to co habitate with the Igbos given how deeply they are entrenched in our societies .

“And since evidently the Igbo have not been sufficiently humbled by their self imposed bloody civil violence of 1966, we are strongly concerned that nothing short of granting their Biafran dream will suffice. “And since the Igbo have virtually infiltrated every nook and cranny of Northern Nigeria where they have been received with open arms as fellow compatriots, we strongly believe that the region is no longer safe and secure in the light of the unfolding threats and the fact that for a long time, the Igbo have gone to extra ordinary lengths to ensure that in their domain in the South East, Northerners and Westerners are as much as possible disenfranchised from owning any businesses whereas in Kano alone, they own not less than 100, 000 shops across all the business districts.

“That since the younger generation of Nigerians makes up for more than 60 per cent of the nation’s population, it is our hope that they inherit this country in better shape so that they can build a much better future for themselves and their offsprings in an atmosphere that is devoid of anarchy, hate, suspicion and negativity that characterize the polarized, and clearly irreconcilable differences forced on us by the Biafran Igbos”.

“As the Igbo agitations persist and assume threatening dimensions, we submit that there is need to ensure that they are given the opportunity to exercise the right to self-determination as entrenched under the aforementioned international statutes to which Nigeria is a signatory. “Aware that the right of self-determination in international law is the legal right for a “people” that allows them to attain a certain degree of autonomy from a sovereign state through a legitimate political process, we strongly demand for a referendum to take place in a politically sane atmosphere where all parties will have a democratic voice over their future and the future of the nation.

“The Igbo from all over the country and in the Diaspora should be advised to converge in their region in the South-East for a plesbisite to be organized and conducted by the United Nations and other regional bodies for them to categorically to decide between remaining part of Nigeria or having their separate country. “That government should at the end of the plesbite implement whatever is agreed and resolved in order to finally put this matter to rest.

“Lastly, we pray His Excellency to study the references forwarded with this letter dispassionately and decide who is more in the wrong between those who openly pledge allegiance to a country other than Nigeria backing it up with persistent threats of war and those of us whose allegiance remains with the Nigerian state but simply urge that the secessionists be allowed to actualize their dream peacefully throw universally entrenched democratic options”

Nigerian Hackers Steal $3billion Worldwide - FBI

Nigerian hackers and cyber criminals are being accused of masterminding a grand theft of information and money running into billions of dollars, worldwide. According to experts, the Nigerians are able to carry out the heist by sending phishing emails to commercial organizations and industrial enterprises, which they later steal dry.

The FBI estimates that these phishing attacks have cost companies over $3 billion. The number of affected companies exceeds 22,143. Kaspersky Labs, an internet security company said it has found over 500 companies that are under attack in at least 50 countries. Those under attack are mostly industrial enterprises and large transportation and logistics corporations, based in Germany, UAE, Russia and India.

In a blog post, Kaspersky said the cyber-criminals managed to steal technical drawings, floor plans and diagrams showing the structure of electrical and information networks. Researchers said that all indications are that these were business email compromise (BEC) attacks that have come to be associated with Nigerian cyber-criminals. Emails received by victims looked authentic enough to fool people.

Some had attachments with names such as “Energy & Industrial Solutions W.L.L_pdf”, “Woodeck Specifications best Prices Quote.uue” and “Saudi Aramco Quotation Request for October 2016”. These are well crafted emails that look legitimate and are crafted to make the victim open the malicious attachment. The emails ask the recipients to check information as soon as possible, clarify product pricing or receive goods specified in the delivery note attached. The malicious attachments contain RTF files with an exploit for the CVE-2015-1641 vulnerability. They may also contain archives of different formats containing malicious executable files or macros and OLE objects designed to download malicious executable files.

Kaspersky discovered that the malicious files are intended to steal confidential data and install stealthy remote administration tools on infected systems. Using Whois services, Kaspersky found that the domains used to host the malware were registered to residents of Nigeria. Once in, the hackers compromise a legitimate email and change the banking account details. The malware used in these attacks belonged to families that are popular among cyber-criminals, such as ZeuS, Pony/FareIT, LokiBot, Luminosity RAT, NetWire RAT, HawkEye, ISR Stealer and iSpy keylogger. ”The phishers selected a toolset that included the functionality they needed, choosing from malware available on cyber-criminal forums.

At the same time, the malware was packed using VB and .NET packers – a distinct feature of this campaign. To evade detection by security tools, the malicious files were regularly repacked using new modifications of the same packers,” said the researchers. At least eight different Trojan-Spy and Backdoor families were used in the attacks.

Further research found that the domain names of some of the malware command-and-control servers used by the attackers mimicked domain names used by industrial companies – “more proof that the attacks were primarily targeting industrial companies,” said researchers. They added that most domains used for malware C&C servers were registered to residents of Nigeria. Researchers warned that it would be very dangerous if, because of an infection, cyber-criminals were able to gain access to computers that are part of an industrial control system (ICS).

“In such cases, they can gain remote access to the ICS and unauthorised control over industrial processes,” said researchers. Owen Connolly, vice president services (EMEA) at IOActive, told SC Media UK that this attack is not actually targeting industrial control systems or operational technology. “It’s just targeting users that work for large companies. The fact that those companies may also have OT systems could just be coincidence, not correlation,” he said. Mark James, security specialist at ESET, told SC Media UK that scammers are opportunistic.

They understand they need to adapt and will change their tactics to get the best result. “With the 419 scams being so synonymous with the public, the scope for business users being victims is massive. We also need to consider the scope for larger, single successful attacks reaping the benefits much quicker than the smaller, and often much harder, sells through the public,” he said.

Javvad Malik, security advocate at AlienVault, told SC that organisations dealing with industrial control systems may not be as savvy to scams as financial services, so it could be that the success rate of targeted emails is higher. “Allowing criminals to make quick money. On the other hand, it could allow criminals to implant malware on industrial control systems, or at least on systems that support the ICS. This can then be allowed for further nefarious purposes such as deploying ransomware – or selling on the access to other criminals or ever nation states,” he said.
