Boko Haram Spends N2bn Yearly To Sponsor Attacks – UN

By     No comments:

The United Nations has reported that the Boko Haram sect spends as high as N2 billion to carry out terrorists attacks just as the Senegalese authorities have arrested two suspected Boko Haram female members with 500 million CFA (about N164 million) cash.

Deputy Director of Assessment and Technical Assistance for the UN Counter-terrorism Committee, Hassan Baage, told a gathering of West African Security experts in Dakar, Senegal, that the extremist sect’s annual budget was believed to be up to $10 million.

The Associated Press (AP) which covered the Dakar event quoted the UN official as calling for closer scrutiny of the financing of extremist groups, including Boko Haram.

“We must detect the flow of money that finances their activities and measures must be implemented to freeze the funds. According to reports that we’ve consulted, the budget of Boko Haram is around $10 million per year,” Baage said.

Soumeylou Boubeye Maiga, a special envoy for the African Union, said at the event that a stronger institution was needed to police and block the financing of extremism.

“The transfer of money through informal circles means huge amounts of money can circulate in these regions uncontrolled,” he said.

Boko Haram’s financing could come from crime cartels, false charity organisations and blackmail, said other experts at the forum on fighting extremism. Other analysts said the militants are known to have been paid millions for hostages, mainly French and Cameroonians taken in Cameroon, though Cameroon’s government denies paying ransoms.

Also, a number of suspects have been reportedly arrested in and around Dakar, the Senegalese capital, in the past two weeks with links to Boko Haram.

Two women, according to Premium Times, an online newspaper, were arrested in Guidiawaye, a suburb of Dakar, on suspicion of links to the group.

Officials say the women popped up on the radar of security agencies and were afterwards placed under surveillance after authorities intercepted their communication with a suspected Boko Haram fighter in Nigeria, who was confirmed to be the husband of one suspect and brother to the other.

Security forces also reported uncovering a consistent number of money transfers between the suspects and their alleged Boko Haram fighter-relative for months.

After their arrest, a search was conducted on their home and a cash of 500 million CFA Francs (about N164 million) was found in their possession, authorities claimed.

“The fact that such an amount was in their possession instead of being in the bank further goes to confirm ties with the alleged Boko Haram fighter,” a security source said.

Also this month, two Imams were arrested outside Dakar.

One of them was arrested in Ziguinchor, the regional headquarters of southern Senegal, an area known for its over 30 years of secessionist wars with the Senegalese government.

In Kaolack, another suburban city, hundreds of kilometres outside Dakar, an Imam was arrested.

The town is popular for being a base of the Tijanniya Brotherhood, and home of the renowned Islamic scholar, Sheik Ablaye Niass.

Authorities say the Imam, Alioune Ndao, had been under security radar for months as a result of his suspected links with Boko Haram.

“His sermons have been strangely inclined towards “instigating” his congregation towards Boko Haram ideologies,” the security source said.

Following his arrest, two satellite phones were found in his possession.

Security insiders said a scrutiny of the call histories of the phones showed consistent communications with suspected members of the Boko Haram sect.

In the capital city of Dakar itself, a young man was arrested for alleged links with the terrorist group.

Security operatives say their investigations revealed he was a next of kin to a confirmed Boko Haram fighter in Nigeria.

“He has also been receiving a lot of money transfers from Nigeria after the death of his brother who was fighting for the group,” one of the security sources said.

The Senegalese President, Macky Sall, told the security conference in Dakar that terrorists should not be allowed to “impose another form of religion” that does not “correspond to our traditions or our conceptions of Islam”.

Mr. Sall told the conference that brought together about 800 security officials and analysts from across the region to the Senegalese capital to develop a coordinated response to mounting jihadist threats facing the country.

He said Senegal must develop “a philosophical and theological discourse, training imams with a sense of a tolerant Islam”.

Paris Shooting: France Drops 20 Bombs On Islamic State Jihadi Training Camp

By     No comments:
RAF and French Air Force fast jets on exercise

Some 10 fighter jets pummeled the ISIS-held city of Raqqa in Syria with at least 20 bombs, according to the French defence ministry.

France retaliated to the Paris terror attack by launching deadly airstrikes on an Islamic State jihadi training camp in Syria tonight.

Yesterday president Francois Hollande vowed to crush the extremist group who massacred 129 people on Friday night.

Less than 24 hours later, some 10 fighter jets pummeled the ISIS-held city of Raqqa with at least 20 bombs, according to the French defence ministry.

The warplanes are seen launching from an airbase in the United Arab Emirates in the above video.

They struck an Islamic State command and control centre, a jihadi recruitment centre, a munitions depot and a training camp, France government sources claim.

The full statement read: "The raid... including 10 fighter jets, was launched simultaneously from the United Arab Emirates and Jordan. Twenty bombs were dropped."

Syrian activists today claimed a museum, a stadium and a medical centre were hit by air strikes.

They also said as of yet, there are no reports of any civilians being killed or injured.

President Hollande was told his country is under attack while watching France take on Germany in a friendly at the Stade de France.

His bodyguard is seen whispering into Francois Hollande's ear 15 minutes into watching France take on Germany.

Mr Hollande was immediately escorted upstairs to the stadium control room where he was briefed to the full extent of the situation before being scrambled away to a secure location.

Yesterday, he condemned the Paris attacks as a 'cowardly act of war carried out by ISIS barbarians'.

Addressing the nation just hours after 129 people were killed, he said they had been organised and planned from abroad.

Three days of national mourning will take place, President Hollande confirmed.

In a televised address to the nation, Mr Hollande said the attacks were "committed by a terrorist army, the Islamic State group, a jihadist army, against France, against the values that we defend everywhere in the world, against what we are: a free country that means something to the whole planet".

He added that France "will be merciless toward the barbarians of Islamic State group", and "will act by all means anywhere, inside or outside the country".

Mr Hollande said the French army and security forces were mobilised "at the highest possible level" and insisted France would "triumph over barbarity".

"What we are defending is our country, but more than that, it is our values," he said.

In a night of carnage in the French capital:

:: Police stormed the Bataclan concert hall where hostages were being held, but attackers wearing suicide belts blew themselves up, leaving 80 people feared dead. A witness said one of the gunmen shouted "Allahu Akbar" and said "This is for Syria" - a possible reference to France's participation in air strikes against Islamic State

:: Two suicide attacks and a bombing took place at the Stade de France stadium, where Mr Hollande was among thousands of football fans watching the national side play a friendly against Germany

:: Gunmen targeted bars and restaurants in the 10th and 11th arrondissements of central Paris

:: As many as 18 people died when the terrace of La Belle Equipe was sprayed with gunfire, while around 14 people were killed at Le Carillon bar-cafe. There were also shootings at the nearby Cambodian restaurant Le Petit Cambodge and the La Casa Nostra pizzeria

U-23 National Team Escapes Plane Crash In Accra

By     No comments:
Image result for u-23 team nigeria

The U-23 National Team delegation has arrived in The Gambia for a 10 –day training program ahead of the 2nd Africa U-23 Cup of Nations taking place in Senegal escaped plane crash in Accra.

It was  learnt that the ARIK Air aircraft conveying the team from Lagos lost a tyre on landing at the Kotoka International Airport, Accra.

The airplane that was on ground in Accra was then deployed for the purpose of flying the team to The Gambia, but that also lost an engine on take –off and the pilot had to make a quick return.

However, ARIK provided another aircraft that flew the delegation to The Gambia through Dakar.
Before departing the shores of the country on Sunday morning, NFF 2nd Vice President/LMC chairman, Shehu Dikko, charged the players and their officials to do the nationl proud at the Africa U-23 Cup of Nations, where Africa’s flagbearers to the men’s football tournament of next year’s Olympics will emerge.

Pledging that the NFF would ensure a comfortable stay for the team in The Gambia and the championship in Senegal, Dikko charged the team to put Nigeria first and ensure qualification for the Olympics taking place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil ext year summer.

“Some of the challenges you guys are facing now is as a result of some changes in the financial regulations in the country, but in a little time, we will be able to resolve all that and your welfare and comfort will be priority.”

Although he regretted that many of the players from the NPFL would not be taking part in the last games of the season, Dikko urged them to consider it as part of the sacrifice they haves to make for the nation. “In times like this, all of us must make sacrifices, I know most of you here would love to play for your clubs, but the reality is that it will not be possible as this is national duty you guys are involved in and as such we must put the nation first.”

Responding, Coach Samson Siasia thanked the NFF for sending a top member of the executive to se‎e the team off, assuring that they would not be deterred by any difficulty they are going through right now, and that the team is poised to pick an Olympic ticket for the country.

Meanwhile, Coach Siasia has wielded th‎e big stick by dropping Kingsley Sokari, Nzube Anaezemba and Daniel Etor for what he termed indiscipline.
Siasia said the players were sent packing after they requested to leave the camp to go for their Club’s (Enyimba) last NPFL game of the season against Sunshine Stars in Lagos, even after he (Siasia) had told all the players they could not leave camp.
“I feel bad in taking this decision, but discipline must be maintained for us to achieve success in Senegal. All players in camp were told not to leave camp as the team would be traveling this weekend to The Gambia for pre –Championship training, only for these three players to come and ask to be allowed to go play for their club as they wanted to be part of the victory parade. I had no option but to allow them leave and also in the process, leave them out of the team.”

Siasia then wished them well in their pursuit of club glory, while urging them to wish the national team well.

FIFA U-17 World Cup record goalscorer, Victor Osihmen, who was invited alongside three of his victorious team -mates, joined up with the U-23 team to The Gambia.

Daniella Okeke Slam Nigerians Who Are Praying For Paris, Tells Them Not To Be Stupid

By     No comments:
ok

Read what she wrote on her Instagram page below: –
How many times have you offered prayers for Nigeria, shown support for the country in this trying times or changed your dp to the Green and white national colours to identify with your country on the Boko haram insurgency that has been on for over 5 years now?
In what way have you shown concern about the plight of people in the north east?
What about the missing ChibokGirls?
Why didn’t you pray for them? Instead ye all went saying #bringbackourgirls targeting #GEJ…
Did you see any individual, political party or a group in France calling a press conference to blame their President/Government for the tragedy? If it were to be here (God forbid bad thing) ye all should have been blaming #PMB and #PDP /#APC by now.
Now ask yourself……
How many times has Mark Zuckerberg’s facebook given you the opportunity to change your profile picture and show support for the boko haram victims in the manner they did for France today or are they less humans?
Ain’t saying you shouldn’t pray for Paris or show your support for them but just DON’T BE STUPID and try changing your dp to the Nigeria flag or pic mix your photo with the coat of arm as we ain’t gat an eiffel tower here, show support for the North Eastern people and remember to pray for them too.
#Pray4Nigeria
May the souls of the Bokoharam victims, ISIS victims and that of the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace.

Nigerian-pastor-TB-Joshua-

Controversial Nigerian pastor, TB Joshua, founder of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) claims to have foretold Friday’s disastrous terrorist attack on the French capital Paris, two years ago (in November 2013).
According to a message he posted on his Facebook page
On Sunday 19th January 2013, during a Sunday Live Service at The SCOAN, Prophet T.B. Joshua gave a word of prophecy concerning the nation, France. This is what he said,
“France as a nation, there is a strange thing they have to pray about which is in their country now. There are some strange people; they have strategic places in France. They should pray against suicide bombers or an attack of any kind that will affect many. Take care of your homeland security. This is France, this time.”
We pray for the families and loved ones of all those affected by this tragedy in the nation of France. May God strengthen them that their hearts may rise and seek the things above that they may be comforted under the present sorrow.
