Elders Reject Proposed Nuclear Power Plant In Akwa Ibom
STAKEHOLDERS in Akwa Ibom State have rejected the plan to site of a nuclear power plant in the state.
Instead, they called on the Federal Government to partner with the state at ensuring that, the independent power plant is put to maximum use for the benefit of all.
Speaking at a press conference in Uyo, the state capital, they wondered that, if the International Atomic Energy Agency [IAEA] had warned that, Nigeria was nor ripe to handle nuclear issues for now, the country would insist in venturing into it knowing the dangers associated with it.

Inspector General of Police, Mr. Solomon Arase,on Sunday summoned the
Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, over alleged forgery of the
Senate Rules on election of its principal officers,the Peoples
Democratic Party, PDP, said.

Vincent Enyeama, has played his last game for the
former African champions.
According to African Football, the Lille goalkeeper
may be stripped of his captaincy, following his
remarks about the security of Kaduna, before the
Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Chad.
“The federation is not happy with the Eagles
captain. And I am sorry to say if the leadership
decides to follow the recommendations of the
disciplinary committee to the letter, then maybe
Vincent Enyeama may have played his last game
for the Super Eagles,” said one official.
“Even if he is recalled to the national team, he may
no longer wear the captain’s armband, because the
NFF view his actions before and after the game
against Chad as bad example for other players, also
he didn’t show up for the disciplinary committee
hearing”.
The official added: “You see what has happened to
Keshi, it’s the disciplinary committee’s
recommendations; so, if Enyeama escaped their
recommendations, then it must be a divine
intervention.”
Enyeama made his debut in 2001 and he is now the
most capped Nigeria star with 101 appearances

NSC, NPA to negotiate tariffs at ports
The Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) on Friday called for negotiation with the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) to achieve a reduction of tariffs at ports.

A former Green Eagles winger, Adokiye Amiesimaka said on Sunday that he was not surprised at the removal of Coach Stephen Keshi because the current Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) board never believed in him.
Amiesimaka told NAN in Port Harcourt that the termination of Keshi’s two-year contract because he applied for the Ivorian job, would not come to many Nigerians as a surprise.
