A monthly maintenance fee of N100 was also proposed every month for anaira dominated debit card when used, and a N50 charge for other months when the card is used or not.
In its draft on the“guide to charges for banks and other financial institutions in Nigeria”, CBN has alsoproposed a N4,200-per-annum charge on foreign currency denominated cards as maintenance fee.

Buhari Has Destroyed Nigeria’s Economy – APGA

By     No comments:
Image result for Deputy National Secretary of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA

The Deputy National Secretary of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Comrade Jerry Obasi, on Tuesday pronounced Nigeria’s economy “clinically dead”, calling on President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration to urgently seek the help of economic surgeons.
Obasi, who was the APGA’s deputy governorship candidate in the last general election in Ebonyi State, accused the President of junketing around the world whereas his house was on fire.
Speaking in an interview with DAILY POST in Enugu, the APGA chieftain urged the government to convoke an economic summit in order to save the country from descending further into the abyss.
He spoke thus: “What is going on this country is quite unfortunate; I have been on the queue for two days to get fuel, in Nigeria, the fourth oil producing country in the entire world, whereas in non-oil producing countries, there are no queues.
“In fact, I supported Buhari in this election, I had to go against my family and party to support Buhari in that election, because of the state of affairs under Jonathan, considering the fact that Enugu-Onitsha Express Road was impassable for six years, and we had a President; also Enugu-Port Harcourt Road was not done, all the roads in the South-East and South-South were not done for the six years, I was using these small indices because Igbos are traders, so they need these roads; I got disappointed and I said I was not going to vote for Jonathan, he disappointed my people, six years would have been enough. To me it was crass failure, even when it is believed today by Nigerians both at home and in the Diaspora that Buhari has failed, his failure can’t make Jonathan to have succeeded.
“The truth remains that the economy is in a very bad shape, the economy has been battered, it has been given a technical knock-out, the type that Tyson used to give to his opponents in his time, the economy has gone extinct, and just like the statement made by Lai Mohammed that the economy has overtaken the government, though he has come back to retract that, but he has made a confessional statement, because tomorrow he will still tell Nigerians that he said it; the economy to me, has been destroyed, you cannot bring a clerk in a micro finance bank in the UK to come and superintend over Nigeria’s economy, it is not going to take us anywhere. Nigeria needs an economist in the mold of Okonjo Iweala, an economist in the stature of Oby Ezekwesili, in the stature of Soludo, in the stature of Kaku Idika Kaku. These appointments of Buhari that are more political and sentimentally minded will take us to the abyss. The government is already collapsing on him, and I will advise once again for him to convoke an economic summit, because Nigerian and her economy is in comatose, it is in an intensive care unit of economic hospital that also needs intensive care by economic surgeons, but if we go the way we are going, I see dark days ahead, I see terrible days ahead.
“Are we to talk about the N5,000 promise, we are not talking about the fuel they said will be sold an N40, even at 180, you cannot but fuel anywhere, if you go to Malawi, South-Africa, Ghana, you cannot see queue, so it is unfortunate, the president should wake up, he should reduce his level of travelling, you don’t visit economies that are stable whereas at home, the economy is dying on your lapse, let us come out of these sentiments, the APC should understand now that it is the ruling government, may be they forgot that they are ruling, still sounding like the opposition. Buhari’s appointments are summersault appointments; you see a professor working under a first degree holder, let us look inside, management of the country is different from a religious body, it is different from a tribal organization, it is different from the opposition mentality, it is so far so bad, all of us can see it, we can’t but food. The country has become too hot for all of us.”

Stop Hating On My Mum In Her Trying Time, Ibinabo Fiberesima’s Son Pleads With Nigerians

By     No comments:
ibi

If you haven’t heard already, veteran Nollywood actress, Ibinabo Fibereisma is currently going through a very hard time.

Two days ago, a Lagos appeal court dismissed the appeal filed by the actress and upheld the High Court’s initial judgement which sentenced her to five years in prison for the death of Dr. Giwa Suraj.
The former AGN president was said to have broken down in tears as the judgement was read.
Today, Ibinabo’s first son Sean took to social media to plead with Nigerians to pray for his mother during this period.
He also begged those posting hateful comments online to refrain from doing so, stating that his mother is the most humble woman he knows.
Read him below:
People of Nigeria,
This is Sean, first and proud son of Ibinabo Fiberesima. I write on here today to plead with all Nigerians to pray for my mother. She is going through the toughest of times right now, and so are we, her family. I’ve been reading heartbreaking comments on her matter that ‘she thinks she’s above the law’, ‘she doesn’t feel sorry for the family of the deceased’, ‘she was drunk and deserves this punishment’, let me get a few things straight with you now.
My mother is the most humble woman I know, I was not aware she was a celebrity until I was about 14 and that’s only because my uncle told me, she does not see herself or act as if she is above any other person. She is a proud Nigerian who loves her country and its people.
Secondly, she has been carrying heartbreak around with her for the past 11 years after the accident. She understands the pain for the deceased family and is very hurt about what happened herself. She has tried her utter most to console with the family, so don’t ever think she does not care.
Thirdly she was not drunk, the charges are reckless and dangerous driving. First of all I refuse to believe my mother was driving recklessly or dangerous, as I’ve been in a car with her countless times and nothing has happened. On this occasion it was unfortunate, she was unlucky, her car flipped over which happens to a number of cars and another car smashed into her. She was in a comma for days, she could have easily lost her life, but thankfully, by Gods strength only she survived. She did not set out that day trying to kill someone or herself.
Right now my mother is broken, and needs the prayer and support of all Nigerians, so please put all your conspiracies about this matter aside, I know it’s between her and God now.
Join us, myself, Craig her son who is 14, Malcolm and Brian her other sons and her beautiful Daughter Zino who is just 8, and the rest of her family, to pray for my Mother. Let God decide what is just and what is not.
Whatever your religion, join us and Pray for my mother as well as the family of the deceased. We can all get through this but not without God.
Thank you for reading, may God bless you all.

Goodluck Jonathan Summons His Former Ministers In Crucial Meeting Over Arms Deal Scandal

By     No comments:

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has summoned his former aides and ex-ministers over the ongoing probe of the $2.1 billion arms deal purchase scam investigated by President Muhammadu Buhari.
According to an exclusive report on Punch, some former ministers and aides that served under ex-President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration, met the ex-president on Sunday over the ongoing probe of the $2.1 billion arms deal purchase scam which has involved those who served at the past administration.
It was gathered that many of the former ministers were not only disturbed, but also jittery by the concentration of President Muhammadu Buhari’s anti-graft war on those who served under Jonathan.
It can be recalled that Senator Ali Ndume, the Senate Leader, on Friday in a report, said President Buhari should authorise the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to probe and prosecute Jonathan.
Ndume had said:-
“Nobody is supposed to be above the law. If Jonathan is a culprit, he should face the law. If there is evidence that the former President should face the law, then, he should. After all, he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.”
It was also reported that the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, said Buhari did not sign any pact with Jonathan or any past President to exempt him (Jonathan) from probe, adding that Buhari, being an open person, would never go into a secret pact with anybody, especially on his administration’s ongoing anti-graft war.
A top member of the Peoples Democratic Party, who confided in Punch, said the pressure on Buhari to probe Jonathan will form part of the discussion when the ex-ministers meet the former President.
The PDP chieftain said, “Barring last minute changes, some former ministers would meet Jonathan tomorrow (Sunday) in Abuja. There is no way the issue of probes would not be discussed at such a meeting.”

Photos: How a young man was brutally beaten, killed and burnt to death over N10 Abuja

By     No comments:

A young man identified as Ikechukwu Anigbo was reportedly killed and burnt to death over the weekend around a relaxation centre in Apo Mechanic Village, Abuja.

According to reports, the 32-year-old barber from Aku, Enugu State took a bike and argument ensued between him and the motorcycyclist when he paid. The man insisted his money is N60 instead of N50. It was alleged that attracted his colleagues to the scene by shouting "thief". The mob gathered and started beating Ikechukwu after which they set him ablaze.

Confirming the tragic incident, Mr. Ezema Virginius Chukwudike, the taskforce chairman of Abuja Spares Dealers Association, Apo, said "The mob that gathered following the alarm collected tyres from a vulcanising workshop near the scene and set the deceased on fire"
The next day, angry Igbo men in Apo blocked the road and started attacking any vehicle or Keke Napep with Hausa person or people who look like Hausa. Fortunately, the police were able to stop the riot before it escalated.

Speaking to Daily Trust, a friend of the deceased, Chukwudi Orji said he learnt about Ikechuwu's death when he got home at about 11p.m.
"I saw the fire, but I did not know that someone was inside. There was smoke everywhere; there was no way you would have known that there was someone in the fire, except you were there or somebody told you about it," he said.
"If I had known about it on time, I would have tried to save him because he was innocent," he added.
Speaking further, Mr Chukwudike said, "When news of the incident spread, people became angry. They wondered why the motocyclists would burn an innocent man. Even the man who voluntered to carry the corpse after he had been killed, was chased away"
He said this is not the first time that motorcyclists are killing someone over a paltry sum of money.
"A similar thing happened in Kabusa, when a boy was stabbed because of change. Another man was killed on Wumba road. The same change issue led to the death of a man in Damagaza. In his case, after he was killed, they kept him near a river until the next day," he said.
Chukwudike said the last time such an incident occurred in the area, the traders protested and that it took the intervention of riot policemen to bring the situation under control.
"Because the motorcyclists knew what they did, they boycotted this route from Sunday evening until policemen were deployed to the area."
Azeez Akinola, Anigbo’s boss at the barbershop, corroborated Chukwudike story, saying the attitude of motorcyclists in the area is a cause for concern. Akinola who lives around the area where the late Anigbo lived, said he and two other people rushed out of their houses when they received news of the incident, but that the motorcyclists at Kabusa junction refused to take them to the scene.

Akinola who had worked with Anigbo for more than four years in a small barbershop at NEPA Junction, Apo, said it took them a longtime to find a motorcycle to convey them.

He said when they arrived the scene, they saw several people with sticks, but that they did not understand the magnitude of what had happened until someone pointed to the corpse of Anigbo in the fire.
"I could not believe it. There were heaps of iron treads from the burnt tyres on his body," Akinola said amidst tears.
"He was very gentle," Akinola continued." If small wound touch am, he go treat am for more than one week. I.K. can’t ride a bicycle, talk less of motorcycle.  Because of fear, he refused to learn driving despite the fact that they were many people around to teach him," he said.
He said the matter was reported at the Apo Police Station, where he wrote a statement before police officers took the corpse to a mortuary.

When contacted, the spokesperson of the FCT police command, ASP Anjuguri Manzah said, "there was an early morning disagreement between two opposing groups that could have resulted in a clash but it was averted by the timely intervention of anti-riot police personnel."

Manzah said the FCT Commissioner of Police, Wilson Inalegwu, warned people of the area to desist from violence at the wake of the disagreement and promptly deployed police officers to the scene. The commissioner assured residents of the area and other parts of FCT that adequate measures have been deployed to contain the situation, investigate and unravel the remote and underlying issues behind the upheaval.

He reiterated that any attempt to jeopardise the existing peaceful and serene atmosphere in the Federal Capital Territory will not be tolerated. Though normalcy has returned to the area, the relative peace enjoyed may not last for long if a lasting solution is not proffered. Chukwudike said government should stop motorcyclists from arming themselves with daggers.
"Why should government allow them to move around with daggers unchallenged?" he asked.
There are several versions of the incident, while some insist that the late Anigbo did not commit any crime, some alleged that he attempted to snatch the motorcycle he rode to the junction but was overpowered by the motorcyclists.  However, it is hoped that the police through their investigation will be able to give a clearer picture of what actually transpired.

Amber Rose doesn't get why she and Kim are being slut-shamed for owning their sexuality and Beyonce isn't

By     No comments:

In a new interview with the Daily Beast where she discusses her latest business ventures, slut-shaming, why she is supporting Hilary Clinton for President, Amber Rose shone a light on the double standard between how society views pop stars like Beyoncé, who are allowed to go onstage and own their sexuality without judgment & how it views women like herself and Kim Kardashian"
"It's bullshit, and this is the thing: They come at me and Kim so hard because I was a stripper and she had a sex tape ... We all love Beyoncé, but she's on stage half-naked and twerking all the time, yet people say, oh, she has talent so she's able to do that."

The socialite and entrepreneur who is in Austin, Texas to promote the new 3D characer, "MUVA," she created in conjuction with the app Zoobe, went on to point out that men like Channing Tatum, who has frequently publicly discussed his past as an exotic dancer, is not subject to nearly the same amount of slut-shaming as she is:
"No one gives a fuck that Channing Tatum was a stripper. He's an established actor who's at the Vanity Fair parties and the Oscars, but for me, no matter how far I go in my life, I see these stories that keep referring to me as a "former stripper." No one says "former stripper" about Channing Tatum, or "former McDonald's worker" about Brad Pitt. No one does that to men.
"We don't have the talent that Beyoncé has, so we get criticized as former sex workers, but at the end of the day we're just women — we're all women — and we should all embrace each other. No one is greater. We're all the same. So, to criticize us as incapable of being smart businesswomen because Kim has a reality show and I'm a socialite and we don't sing is stupid. We've both been in movies, and we take our acting, business ventures, and everything else very seriously."

One of those publications that she felt didn’t do her justice was GQ. In October, they ran a profile of Rose, referring to her in the article’s teaser as "Kanye’s infamous ex," "Wiz Khalifa’s baby mama," and a "teen stripper turned megalomaniac muse." Naturally, Rose wasn’t having it, and put the magazine on blast for their sexist treatment of her. It’s taken quite some time, she says, for the media to cease defining her by the celebrity men she’s been with, and to treat her as the strong, outspoken woman she is. Firing back atGQ was just one step (of many) she’s taken in order to reclaim her narrative.

"I had to go in on GQ magazine and all these famous publications to be like, ‘You’re not gonna fuckin’ do this to me,’" she says. "I did a 12-hour interview and photo shoot with GQ, and that’s how you’re gonna label me? Fuck you. They labeled me as ‘Kanye West’s ex-girlfriend,’ ‘Wiz Khalifa’s baby mama,’ ‘former stripper,’ and it was just like, I work so hard every day as a businesswoman and mother and nobody ever mentions that. I was so pissed off and went after their necks because I don’t care if I’m ever in GQ again. Everybody had my back, and now people get it. They don’t label me like that anymore"

The How to Be a Bad Bitch author is also excited by the prospect of the first female president of the United States: Hillary Clinton.

"I can’t fuckin’ wait! I’m so excited," she exclaims. "I’m voting for Hillary, I don’t give a fuck. I love her, and always have. I feel like this is her time to just shit on everybody and be the powerful woman that she is."

"And I’m leaving the United States if Trump is elected," she adds, with a chuckle. "Fuck it! I’m moving to Canada. It’s over."

New Visa Rules To Study And Work In United States

By     No comments:

International students now have the opportunity to work for three years after completing their education in United States.
The United States federal government changed rules for non-immigrant student visas on Friday, saying that international students will now be eligible to stay for three years after finishing their degrees for training potentially leading to employment and later Green Card.
This makes United States one of the best countries to study abroad when compared to other countries, like United Kingdom, which does not offer employment opportunities to International Students after completing their degrees.
This opportunity will be available for students who will complete their degrees in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields.
The new rule is seven months longer than old 17 month rule and will come in to effect on May 10, 2016. Extended time period will provide a successful transition from being an International Student to be an full-time American worker.
International students will have opportunity to try different jobs and discover how industry professionals across different sectors launched their careers in United States.
Here are some important points:
Only students who earned a degree from a school accredited by a U.S. Department of Education-recognized accrediting agency and certified by SEVP may apply for a STEM OPT extension.
Participating students who receive an additional qualifying degree from an accredited college or university can apply for a second STEM OPT extension.
Participating students can use a previously-earned qualifying degree to apply for a STEM OPT extension. The prior degree must not have already formed the basis of a STEM OPT extension and must be from a school that is both accredited by a U.S. Department of Education-recognized accrediting agency and certified by SEVP at the time of the student’s STEM OPT application. The student’s most recent degree must also be from an accredited and SEVP-certified institution.

It’s Cheaper To Import Petrol Than Refine Locally — Kachikwu

By     No comments:

The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, has said that at the moment, importing Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, also known as petrol, is cheaper than producing the product in the country’s refineries.

Addressing newsmen in Abuja, Kachikwu disclosed that until the upgrade and total refurbishment of the refineries are concluded, as well as ensuring that the pipelines are fixed, it would be uneconomic and very expensive to refine PMS locally.

He maintained that local refining of PMS would make much more economic sense if all the refineries undergo full set of repairs and Turn-Around Maintenance, TAM, and when new refineries are set up in the country through co-locative initiative. He said: “Most modern refineries are configured in such a way that your stock of PMS outage is a lot higher, 70 to 80 per cent. So when we do import the product, we actually save money; we get it less expensive than when we do it here.

“But having said that, the reality is that until we have alternatives in terms of co-locative refineries which we are looking at; until we finish the total refurbishment to improve and upgrade the refineries, it does not make sense to use it with some of the deficiencies. “This is because distribution is key.

If you have product in Kaduna for example, pumping into the north becomes easy as opposed to moving, as we do whenever we have a crisis – trucks all the way from Lagos and Oghara, out to the north.” Kachikwu further noted that even if the current set of refineries were working on a 100 per cent basis, they would only be able to account for 20 million litres of PMS per day, about 50 per cent of the country’s total consumption.

This means that the country would still resort to importation to meet up with the shortfall. He said: “The way the refineries are configured right now, and until a full set of repairs and TAM are done, they are configured on the basis of 50 per cent of PMS and 50 per cent other products.

So even if they were producing on a 100 per cent basis, which they are nowhere near producing right now, PMS output would be less than 20 million litres. Our consumption is closer to 40 million. So we will still have, literarily, 50 per cent gap.”
