Checkout Locally Made Guns Recovered From Slain Armed Robbers

A Nigerian security operative identified as Usman Chindo has revealed the "specially-made" guns that were recovered from armed robbers killed along Kano - Zaria expressway. According to him, one of the guns - a revolver which is meant to carry 6-8 bullets (maximum) - was locally constructed to load 15 bullets which is quite alarming.

Read what he shared below;

I was at the State CID Kano today when officials of Federal SARS brought two corpse of armed robbers killed along Kano - Zaria expressway.

The Rifle by the left looks like a locally made AK-47, but these guys fabricated it to use 9mm instead of the conventional 7.62mm. The Revolver Pistol by the right is using 7.62mm instead of the conventional 9mm all revolvers are supposed to use, and one ingenuity about the fabricator of this weapon is that, the maximum a revolver can carry is 6-8 ammo. This locally fabricated Revolver is a 15 loader!!! Can you beat this 15 Loader!!!!!!

Imo State Gov. Okorocha Bans Igbo Traditional Leaders From Speaking English Language

Read below the press statement released by Sam Onwuemeodo, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Rochas Okorocha.

Governor Rochas Okorocha has banned traditional rulers in the State from speaking English at functions and in conducting affairs at their palaces and directed that they must talk in Igbo at functions and Conduct activities in their palaces in Igbo, adding that they Could employ the services of interpreters if the need arises.

Governor Okorocha gave the directive while handing over letters of recognition and staff of office to Nineteen (19) newly recognized traditional rulers in the State, adding that Igbo language must not be allowed to die as been predicted in some quarters.

The governor also told the traditional rulers in the State to be agents of peace, progress, and prosperity in their respective domain instead of being tools of disunity and destabilization, warning that any traditional ruler who could not show genuine leadership in his autonomous Community stands the risk of having his Certificate of Recognition and Staff of Office withdrawn.

His words “Today, history is made that light has come and darkness would not comprehend at all. The truth has surfaced and the right people have finally become the Custodian of the traditional right of their people. You are not permitted to speak English at functions. This will help keep our Culture and Igbo language alive”.

He continued “For many years now, most of you have been looking for a day like this. Some of you were victims of injustice and never believed that this could be possible and most of you have been waiting without knowing your fate. But today, it is a manifest of truth that your people have chosen you, and the government of Imo State has approved”.

He further stated “I took the bold step of reconciling people, took the step to ensure that truth came to be and voided the rancour that has existed in our various communities over ezeship title. This has equally affected the Community Government Council (CGC) negatively because every community requires an Eze to function effectively as the head of the Community Government Council. Today, that responsibility has fallen on you, I urge you not to fail as failure is not an option. I encourage you to help the government in developing the resources of our land as posterity will only remember you for your positive contributions in the development of your community and not in how much wealth you enmassed as an eze”.

He added “Remember that to whom much is given much is expected. This whole exercise you must understand is not an election or appointment to enable you distinguish between those who love you and those who hate you. Today, you are an Eze, and you must be the Eze for everyone both those against you and those who were for you. I advise you to take all of them along and embrace peace. Your first assignment should be to invite those who were against you to make peace in your land as no Eze can function effectively if there is no peace in your land”.

He continued “Today, you join several Ezes in the Communities of Imo State. You are now addressed as royal fathers and members of Imo State Traditional Council which its right is given to you until death, unless you act in such a manner that you are found wanting before the members of this society”.

He explained that “The essence of Ezeship is not in the title of being called HRM or HRH, it’s in what you have been able to do to change your society for good. You have to understand that you have enormous responsibilities, Ezeship is not an easy job, it attracts enmity and takes all your time”.

In his vote of thanks, Eze Lucky Ajoku of Ihiagwa Autonomous Community, described the governor as an apostle of good conscience and equity and promised that they will embrace peace and help the government attain the lofty ideals of the Community Government Councils in their various communities.

The Ezes given their Staff of Office and letters of recognition are:
HRH D.E.C Onyebuagu - (Ibiasuegbe Autonomous (Oru West), HRH Ifeanyi Kenneth Aguneto - (Umueze/Abaza Ogwa (Mbaitolu), HRH Charles Anyakudo - (Ekwe (Isu LGA), HRH Ugo Ndubueze Donatus - (Umunokwu, Okwuato Aboh Mbaise), HRH Athanasius Ezekwe - (Enyiogugu), HRH James Nnamdi - (Ngurunweke Aboh Mbaise), HRH Francis Anukwu - (Avuvu Ancient Kingdom, Ikeduru), HRH J.C. House Of Representatives Returns CRK in the Secondary School curriculum.

By a unanimous voice vote, members of the House of Representatives at plenary on Tuesday jettisoned the Buhari's government policy which subsumed Christian Religious Knowledge, CRK in Civic Education as a compulsory subject in the Secondary School curriculum.

This followed a motion titled “Call to make Civic Education an optional instead of a compulsory subject for Senior Certificate Examination”, filed by Hon. Beni Lar from Plateau State. The members after an exhaustive debate on the motion agreed that the policy was incongruent with the spirit and letters of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) on the provision of religious liberties.

The members agreed that students with the inputs of their parents at formative years should be taught the religious subjects of their choice in school. Essentially, the House while pointing out that the policy makers erred about the initial decision also agreed Islamic Studies and CRK should be taught independently and separately in the spirit of the constitution.

It will be recalled that the issue recently became a subject of controversy whereupon tempers flared.

Flooding: Lagos To Re-engineer Canals, Drainage Systems – Ambode

Lagos State Governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode on Monday said the flooding caused by torrential rainfalls in the state within the last few days will soon be a thing of the past.

Governor Ambode assured residents that the state government was working towards embarking on holistic solutions to address the situation once and for all.

He gave the assurance in Ikeja at a sensitisation workshop on water management and environmental control, a prelude to a Water Technology and Environmental Control (WATEC) exhibition expected to hold in Israel later in the year.

The governor said aside from the fact that the issue of flooding was a global phenomenon, urgent steps were being taken to tackle the challenge in a holistic manner and protect Lagos State from future re-occurrence.
He empathised with the flood victims and said that it was painful to see most prime estates flooded with water and roads taken over by floods while many homesteads literally became pools.

Ambode noted that major strategies would be implemented with a view to bequeathing the state with an enduring solution to water management and environmental control.

He said: “If we have learnt anything in the ongoing flooding of some parts of the state, it is that there is an immediate, even urgent need for us to embark upon a review and re-engineering of our canals and drainage systems. This must be pursued hand-in-hand with a clear and crystal re-envisioning of our water management system. So, in effect, what we should immediately pursue is a holistic solution to what is certain to be a recurring problem. It must be a sincere collaboration between government and the citizenry”.

The Governor added that several reforms were being implemented in line with the capacity of the state government to protect the shoreline and carry out de-flooding which he said were equally expensive to implement.

“The issue is when you are talking about reforms, it comes with pains but it is only the vision that drives it through and that is what we are doing,” he said.

This was disclosed at a press conference addressed by chieftains of the party in the state as contained in a statement read by Maitamaki Tom Maiyashi.

Others who were in attendance at the briefing include, Senator ShehuSani, Hon Isah Ashiru, Ambassador Sule Buba, AlhajiTijjani Ramalan, Alhaji Yaro Makama Rigachikwu, Admiral Ibrahim Iko among several other chieftains of the party in the state.

According to the APC chieftains who expressed displeasure with the activities of the governor in the statethe governor has embarked on the “destruction of community peace or mortgaging the future of our children whose state of education and development is hitting its worst level.”

The party chieftains said, “The current sorry state of affairs in the state is characterized by the near total absence of leadership of the party at all levels. The party has been deliberately weakened and virtually rendered ineffective.

“There is complete lack of consultation with critical stakeholders even on matters relating to party members or the community.

“Government’s intolerance of any opinion contrary to the mindset of the governor.

Mercenaries are hired to attack individuals and anybody who dares any opinion meant to add value to public policy.

“The only opinion or input respected is, those of hired consultants specifically recruited from outside the state who do not even understand our environment and lack the commitment to address our developmental priorities.

“These cronies and agents so recruited have virtually rendered the state civil service redundant and inactive. Morale in the civil service today is at its lowest ebb.

“Local government administration has been badly fractured, weakened and literary strangulated. Regrettably the state is walking into another circle of avoidable crises. This time around, it is the ‘attack’ on traditional and community institutions that have sustained our sense of community for ages from pre –colonial days”
