Return ‘Arabic Ajami’ To Naira Notes – Muslim Group(MURIC) Urges Buhari!

By     No comments:

As Nigeria celebrate her 55 Independence anniversary on Thursday, the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has urged the Federal Government to immediately return the Arabic Ajami script removed from the nation’s naira notes by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Director of MURIC Prof. Isiaq Akintola made the call on Wednesday in his independence anniversary message to felicitate with the government and Nigerians.

"We call for the reinstatement of the Arabic Anjami which was removed from the naira by the last administration of Dr. Goodluck Jonathan after subterranean pressure from some unpatriotic religious leaders. Nigerian Muslims regard the removal as an act of hostility taken to spite Muslims. We consider it as a step taken to satisfy a section of Christians who had been secretly agitating for the removal of Arabic graphics from some official emblems used in Nigeria.

“We see the removal of Arabic from the naira as absolutely unnecessary and an action taken by Jonathan to spite Nigerian Muslims. We hereby state without any fear of contradiction that the use of Arabic as part of the graphics on our emblems does not in any way portray the imposition of Islam or its landmarks on Nigerians. This is so because Arabic stands parri pasu with English graphics wherever the former is used. “English graphics represent Westo-Christian civilisation while Arabic graphics symbolise Islamic culture. Those who insist that Arabic must be removed from our emblems nurse an agenda of domination by elimination,” Akintola said.

He said that whoever insists on the removal of Arabic Anjami from the naira and from other emblems must accept the equal removal of English graphics from the same materials, adding that after all English is the language of the Bible as it is known in Nigeria and it is on the nation’s naira and all other emblems.

He added: “By the way, apart from massaging the ego of Goodluck Jonathan and satisfying the narrow interest of Muslim-haters, what has Nigeria gained from removing Arabic from the naira? We appeal to the Federal Government to redress this wrong.”

Director,

Allison Madueke Has Beenn Arrested In London

By     No comments:

The immediate past Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, was on Friday arrested in London, PREMIUM TIMES can exclusively and authoritatively report.

The former minister, who was one of the most powerful officials of the President Goodluck Jonathan administration, was arrested Friday morning alongside four other people by the British law enforcement agency.

The identities of the four other people arrested along with her could be immediately ascertained.
PREMIUM TIMES learnt she was arrested for offences related to bribery and corruption being investigated by the UK National Crime Agency.

Two top British officials in London have however confirmed the development to this newspaper. They requested not to be named because they have no permission to speak on the issue.

The British High Commission in Nigeria confirmed that some arrests were made Friday but declined to disclose the identities of those involved.

Joseph Abuku, Press and Public Affairs Officer, said, “This morning, five people between the ages of 21 and 60 were arrested on suspicion of bribery and corruption offences. The crimes are being investigated by the National Crime Agency.

“The National Crime Agency does not confirm identity at arrest nor provide information that could be used to corroborate the identity of an arrested individual.”

It is not clear whether the former minister was arrested based on request from the Nigerian government.
President Muhammadu Buhari had on September 27 hinted that those who misappropriated billions of naira belonging to Nigeria’s state oil company NNPC, would soon be prosecuted.

Mr. Buhari said at a meeting with President Xi Jinping of China in New York that his administration was determined to fully sanitize Nigeria’s oil industry and make it totally free of corruption and shady deals.

The President did not, however, say how soon the prosecutions would start or if indeed investigations had been concluded and whether culpable individuals had been identified.

The NNPC under the immediate past administration of President Goodluck Jonathan was involved in several shady deals, many of which have been cancelled by the present government.

However, Mrs. Alison-Madueke, accused of several corrupt dealings, has stayed away from Nigeria since Mr. Buhari was sworn-in as president.

Nigerian beaten to death for allegedly attempting to rape a lady

By     No comments:

A yet to be identified Nigerian student in Malaysia has reportedly been beaten to death for attempting to rape a lady inside an elevator in a service apartment on September 23rd.

Malaysia's newspaper, Malaymail online, reports that the Nigerian student was mobbed by residents of the service apartment after the victim raised an alarm.

The police was called in and the Nigerian student was taken to the police station with injuries on the right side of his head, and had scratch marks on his legs and hand. He later died at the police station.
"We received a call from the security manager of the apartment who informed us of the incident. When police arrived at 8.20 pm, the suspect was surrounded by 20 to 30 people and his hands were tied. The victim put up a fight and screamed for help as the lift door opened and several men who were in the area caught the suspect. The suspect was then taken to the police station at 8.45 pm. He was fine and he even walked into the station accompanied by policemen. However, we found him unconscious when one of the officers checked on him. A medical officer examined the suspect and pronounced him dead,” ACP Azmi Abu Kassim, a Malaysian police chief said.
The police say a post mortem is being carried out on the deceased. Meanwhile the Nigerian Embassy in Malaysia has not confirmed or reacted to the incident.

'Don't fear me, just watch your actions in office ' - BUHARI

By     No comments:

President Muhammadu Buhari has reiterated that his government is going to single anyone out for prosecution, noting that no one should fear him but they should fear the consequences of their actions.
He stated this in his Independence Day address on Thursday, October 1, 2015.
The President also affirmed that Nigerians must to put an end to ‘unruly behaviour’ before real 'change' can happen.
He said that the job of nation building and development is a collective effort, noting that citizens must be law-abiding and do away with old habits of carelessness and recklessness.
Buhari again stated that he does not have any ill feelings against anybody neither is he out to witch-hunt anyone, adding that “People should only fear the consequences of their actions.”
He said: “Change does not just happen. You and I and all of us must appreciate that we all have our part to play if we want to bring change about.
“We must change our lawless habits, our attitude to public office and public trust. We must change our unruly behaviour in schools, hospitals, market places, motor parks, on the roads, in homes and offices.
“To bring about change, we must change ourselves by being law-abiding citizens.
“As I said in my inaugural speech, I bear no ill will against anyone on past events. Nobody should fear anything from me. We are not after anyone. People should only fear the consequences of their actions. I hereby invite everyone, whatever his or her political view to join me in working for the nation.”

Jax didn’t just survive until birth, he’s also defied doctors’ predictions that he would never walk, never talk, never hear and never see.
News of the child's miraculous survival was read by hundreds of thousands after his first birthday in August, though some said that Brandon and his wife Brittany were 'selfish' or should have aborted the child to avoid the pain he will suffer. However, the father of the infant responded to the criticism in a heartfelt Facebook post Saturday night, saying his wife and his decision to keep their son was 'our choice, and only our choice'.
Brandon added that he and Brittany didn't want to 'play God'.
Despite his condition, little Jaxon is still looking 100 per cent adorable.

Microhydranencephaly is an extreme malformation of the brain. The condition causes the head to be smaller than normal and the scalp ridged.

Selena Gomez stunning on FLARE 2015 Cover

By     No comments:

With her new album Revival slated to hit stores this month, Selena is excited for her fans to hear her latest sound-

Her words :

“I wanted to make an album—I didn’t want to make just a million singles—and I wanted it to be rich with emotion. The titles of the songs speak to where I am in my life: One is called ‘Kill Em With Kindness’; another one is called ‘Rise,’ which is about life, about everything I’ve been through; another one is called ‘Survivors.’ And the album title came out of a moment I had in Mexico. I had taken a few of the producers there because I wanted to remove everybody from their environment in L.A. While we were away, I was getting criticized [by the media] because I had gained weight. I was really bummed when I found out all that stuff was going on, and that’s when I was like, ‘I’m so tired of feeling like I’m being pulled down by something.’ ‘Revival’ is the first song on the album, and the first lines are, ‘I feel like I’ve awakened—the chains around me are finally breaking.’”

VIDEO : Ethiopia Launches First Light Rail System In Sub-Saharan Africa

By     No comments:

Ethiopia has launched the first fully electrified train service in sub-Saharan Africa. The Light Rail is the first in a raft of Chinese-funded infrastructure projects that the East African nation hope will come online in the next few month.
At the launch on Sunday, thousand of Ethiopians thronged the new railways station to get a glimpse of the gleaming green and white urban commuter train that is expected to cut commute time by up to two-third and cost much less in fares.
At the same venue was the Prime Minister, Hailemariam Desalegn, who was the official guest at the launch and hundreds of officials from Chinese companies involved in the project, including officials from China’s Exim Bank that inject $470 million in the construction.
China will also train the train drivers and maintenance staff and put together the power system.
“This railways transport been readied for service. Above all technology has been  transferred to Ethiopian professional who have drawn extensive experience and knowledge in the process of working with Chinese professionals,” CCTV Africa quoted Prime Minister Desalegn saying.
The train, which will run for 16 hours each day once they are fully operational in three months time, is expected to carry 15,000 people per hour in one direction, with a top speed of 44 miles per hour.
This is expected to relieve Addis Ababa from its growing transport strain as the capital’s population, which now stand at 5 million, increases in tandem with the country high economic growth rate.
Ethiopia, with a population of 94 million, is projected by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to grow at 8 percent in 2015-16, the second-fastest pace on the continent. The Horn of Africa nation has drawn a lot of debate for the shape and speed of its ‘developmental state’.
The country’s economy has grown at an average rates of 10 percent per year for most of the last decade, partly thanks to grand infrastructure projects like this one.

WATCH VIDEO OF MALAWIAN PASTOR WALK ON AIR

By     No comments:

A controversial Malawian born prophet living in South Africa, Shepherd Bushiri has released a footage he claims proves he can 'walk on air.'

The Christian preacher, who has 239,000 followers on Facebook and another 13,000 on Twitter, is part of the Enlightened Christian Gathering. He has been mocked in the past for sensationally claiming he was head of a made up organisation called AFFRICI, that he can 'enter the spirit realm' and that God blessed him with a private jet - which no one is allowed to see.

After previously being labeled a fake, he invited cameras into his home to prove he can walk on air. Please watch the video after the cut and let's know if you think the video is real or fake.

The footage starts with Bushiri - his arms held aloft - walking down the staircase in hishouse. As he is about to land, the camera quickly pans away to avoid filming one of the men who helped to suspend Bushiri in the air to make it look as though he was floating. But the footage catches the man's shadow as Bushiri's feet return to solid ground.

The video has been viewed more than 320,000 times after it was uploaded to YouTube by his followers, who said the 'hair-raising' performance had left the 'Christian world thunder-struck.'

According to SouthAfrican media, Bushiri told his followers:

If I can walk in the air, somebody thinks I can never capture a simple picture in the spirit. I know who I am and I understand the power of God and what that power can do. He is the God of impossibilities who can do anything.
We have seen magicians performing miracles, why can’t we, as children of God perform equally and even more great miracles? It's so unfortunate that some people are quick to believe in a magician's miracle than in God's miracle.
I'm not proving anything, am just showing you that God is able and he is performing miracles through his chosen ones. Attack a small miracle, I will pray to God that he makes me perform something even greater than what you have attacked. Its all possible because he leaves in me, am his temple.
About the miracle that you have seen me walking in the air is just a demonstration of God's power and when am done praying to God for perfection, I shall perform it live for everyone to see. Thats last friday when God showed me that I can do that after I had come from church.”
So many more people have questioned the validity of the 'miracle' because only his feet are shown and not the rest of his body. What do you think?

No hurry in rescue of kidnapped Chibok girls- Nigerian Army

By     No comments:

The Acting Director, Defence Information, Military Headquarters, Abuja, Col. Rabe Abubakar,at a press conference in Lagos on Thursday, said that even though it's imperative to the military to rescue the kidnapped Chibok girls, there was no immediate hurry to do so because their rescue demanded adequate patience and planning.

He said, “The issue of the low morale of the Nigerian military men has now become a thing of the past. The operation to recover the Chibok girls is alive and still ongoing. We have continued to make rescue efforts, and we will do all within our powers to bring the girls.
“However, we will not rush to do this. It requires diligent intervention and a high-level operation to rescue the girls. In due time, every captive of Boko Haram will be released.
A lot of achievements have been recorded recently, and this cannot be disconnected from the high morale of the army. “We want to assure our citizens that soon, insurgency will be a thing of the past. But, it is not only about the military or the North-Eastern region. It is our collective duty to ensure that there is peace in the country.
“The Nigerian army has put together a multilateral cooperation. Niger, Nigeria, Chad and Cameroon are partnering to ensure we win the terrorism war.”
We are not sleeping. We are cooperating with the relevant agencies in the fight against the terrorists.”

FIFA Ranking: SuperEagles move up one place

By     No comments:

Nigeria Super Eagles have moved up one
place to 52nd  position according to the
latest FIFA Ranking which was released
yesterday.
The upward movement is as a result of
their 2-0 friendly victory over Niger
Republic and a goalless draw with
Tanzania in the 2017 African Cup of
Nations qualifier.
Interestingly, Nigeria’s opponents in the
October friendlies, Cameroon and Congo,
and the Eagles’ AFCON qualifying group
rivals Egypt,  were ranked seventh, eighth
and ninth in Africa.
They, however, droped to 10th from a
previous 9th in the Africa ranking while
Algeria, 19th in the world, maintained her
position as Africa’s top team.
Coted’ivoire, Ghana , Tunisia and Senegal
made up the five top teams in Africa,
while the likes of Cape Valde, Cameroon,
Congo and Egypt were all ranked ahead
of Nigeria.
Meanwhile, Germany had reclaimed her
top spot and trail leaders Argentina (1st,
unchanged) by just 18 points. Belgium
(3rd, down 1) completed the top three.
Other climbers in the top ten include
Portugal (4th, up 2) and Spain (6th, up
5), while Colombia (5th, down 1) and
Brazil (7th, down 2) have lost ground.
Spain’s re-entry after three months is
down to two wins in qualifiers for UEFA
EURO 2016, while Wales (8th, up 1) and
Austria (11th, up 2) have achieved their
highest-ever rankings, with the latter
having already qualified for next year’s
tournament.
The biggest movers in the top 50 are
Norway (34th, up 35) and Cape Verde
Islands (41st, up 15). A number of teams
outside the top 50 have also made big
leaps, namely Liberia (95th, up 65), South
Sudan (144th, up 54), Nicaragua (95th,
up 44), the Central African Republic
(126th, up 42), the Cook Islands (166th,
up 39), Georgia (110th, up 37), American
Samoa (164th, up 35), Samoa (162nd, up
34), Finland (64th, up 28), Mauritania
(89th, up 25), Antigua and Barbuda (83rd,
up 22), Aruba (115th, up 22) and Burundi
(113th, up 21).
The results of 149 international ‘A’
matches have been taken into account in
the October edition of the FIFA/Coca-Cola
World Ranking, of which 48 were World
Cup qualifiers in the CONCACAF (12),
Asia (30) and Oceania (6) zones, and 75
were qualifiers for confederation
championships in Europe (50) and Africa
(25). The other 26 matches were
friendlies. This takes the total number of
matches evaluated so far this year to
668.
