Governor Godswill Akpabio has said that the new Akwa Ibom International Stadium, will host a friendly match between Nigeria and Brazil in 2015.
The stunning piece of architecture, was commissioned on Friday by President Goodluck Jonathan, who was assisted by Ghana’s John Dramani Mahama and Ivory Coast’s Alassane Ouattara.
Addressing those present at the event, Governor Akpabio also revealed that the 30,000 seater stadium, has a bullet-proof State Box which has 70 seats. The edifice is modelled after Johannesburg’s Soccercity and Bayern Munich’s Alianz Arena.
The Super Eagles are expected to play their final 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa at the stadium.
