Police Arrest Catholic Rev. Father In Benue State, What They Uncovered Was Shocking

In Benue state, police arrest a Rev father Clement Tartenger after Congregation has lodged complaints against him. During the arrest and investigation process, police discovers that

he was not a priest but a fake married man deceiving congregation. According to Leadership, the impostor had for too long been extorting money from unsuspecting members of agrarian communities.

The fake priest, identified as Mr Amile Terhile had been posing as a catholic priest from the Katsina-Ala Diocese in the state. He was arrested at the Wadata Market in Makurdi where he went reportedly to swindle some market men and women.

Sources revealed that the fake priest was using the name Rev Father Clement Tartenger to extort money and was apprehended by the police while in the act.

Tartenger confessed to the police during investigation that he has been in the shady-business for many years.

He stated that he used the proceeds from the business to take care of his children and his estranged wife. Moses Yamu, the police public relations officer confirmed the incident, adding that further interrogations are ongoing to be sure he wasn’t working with any gang. In the same vein, police in Enugu state have reported the apprehension of a fake naval officer.

The police command said that the man named Sunday Oka, had been swindling unsuspecting members of the public within Onitsha, Anambra state, as well as Enugu and surrounding environs, prior to his arrest.
