Manchester City and Chelsea are set to learn if they face further FA disciplinary action in the fallout from Saturday’s fiery fixture.

Sergio Aguero’s wild tackle on David Luiz in City’s 3-1 defeat to Chelsea earned the Argentine a red card and sparked a mass scuffle involving players and staff from both sides at the Etihad.

Fernandinho was also dismissed for grabbing Cesc Fabregas by the throat in the resulting melee and is set to earn a three-match ban, while Aguero faces four games on the touchline having already served a three-match suspension earlier this season for elbowing Winston Reid.

Aguero will miss fixtures against Leicester, Watford, Arsenal and Hull, but City manager Pep Guardiola was keen to move on from the incident, saying “we are going to accept the ban and keep going”.

City and Chelsea could face extra disciplinary action from the FA on Monday for failing to control their players, while Fabregas could also be banned for appearing to slap Fernandinho.

Fabregas was booked by referee Anthony Taylor for his part in the confrontation between both sets of players, but the FA could take further action if the slap was left out of Taylor’s post-match report.

I've even gone so far as to verbalize it specifically, time is too precious to waste on trivial arguments and negativities. I'd rather get on to the more fun and rewarding stuff right away!
