UK Parliament Calls For BIAFRA Independence; Urges Buhari To Conduct Referendum (See Video)

Tom Elliott MP

While it appears like nobody from the international community is paying attention to the current wave of peaceful protest sweeping across Biafraland and some part of Nigeria. well, the reverse is the case here as many well known figures and government around the world have been laying their voice to that effect. They started by calling for the immediate released of the leader of Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) and the director of Radio Biafra Mazi Nnamdi Kanu from the detention of the Nigerian secret police DSS, now it has snowballed into calling for immediate referendum that will be supervised by the UN, Commonwealth, and other reputable international bodies.

The British government that was playing the ostrich concerning the plight of Biafrans within the contraption called Nigerian, has finally raise their head or about to raise their head to see the evil they created over hundred years ago. Now the British Parliament has called for Biafra Independence from Nigeria and urged the federal government to conduct a referendum in the nearest possible time.

 Read the motion below:

BIAFRA INDEPENDENCE

2015-16: Session.
 03.12.2015: Date tabled.
Tom Elliott:  Primary sponsor.
Danny Kinahan:  Sponsor.
“That this House recognises the calls for the independence of territories that constituted the Biafran Republic; acknowledges the Biafran issue could be improved with the co-operation of the Nigerian government by offering a referendum; and urges the Foreign and Commonwealth Office to use its diplomatic strength to assist in the resolution of this matter.”
On a similar move, the issue of Biafra and indiscriminate killing of Biafrans by the Military/police have gone unnoticed, many voice are coming up from expected and unexpected quarters to condemned the brutality of the Nigerian security personnel against the defenseless Biafrans who are demanding a just and legitimate course to be free as indigenous people.
Meanwhile, Washington-based NGO Organization of Emerging African States (Oeas)  which advocates for people’s right to self determination has warned that Nigeria could risk a “civil strife” if the demands of Biafrans are not met.
In a statement released on 4 December, the organisation also said Nigeria should hold a referendum on the Biafra issue within 90 days with independent observers supervising the polls.

I've even gone so far as to verbalize it specifically, time is too precious to waste on trivial arguments and negativities. I'd rather get on to the more fun and rewarding stuff right away!
